I like this. very clear and to the point. no bullshit intros and "what's up youtube".
excellent video
You ain't foolin anyone with that DOHC sticker haha... good vid.
I swapped my stock springs to SWIFTs too and it's a total DAY and NIGHT upgrade. Initially I was worried about the ride comfort but I was so glad it's even more comfortable than stock while providing a better compliant drive.
This is the video I've been searching for! I'm sitting here at home fretting about offsets on wheels available for our GE Fits, and seeing those +40 with 205 width tires and how they barely stick out from the front fenders almost brings tears to my eyes. It means that if I were to score some beautiful bronze colored Rays CE28 replicas with a +38 offset wearing the same 205 width tires, they'd probably only stick out 2mm more, which can be mitigated by lightly pulling out the front fenders. Thank you HalonJim for this straight-to-the-point, no-nonsense video showing how this swap is done. We GE Fit owners, are in your debt! Cheers!
is it normal guys when you put the lowering springs that it has almost no compression from the shocks?
Cut 1'' off bumpstops!
Hi bro.. may i know if your Jazz is a GE8 model? If so, what specific Swift spring model should i take? Thanks!
This is a good video, in that it is straight and to the point. But there is so much that is skipped over, I feel like. Either that or my GE8 is completely different.
when tightening, what were the torque measurements?
Thoughts a couple years later? My GD3 is getting up in miles so I'm beginning to plan some refreshing of the suspension. I've been eyeing the Swift springs. How do/did you like them? How'd they work with the OE dampers?(or at least OE levels of dampening). Thanks!
how much lower is your car and issit way stiffer than the stock? I've got someone selling used for only 50bux. seriously considering getting it but if the ride height is about the same then i'll skip
From what I've read in the FitFreak forum, they ride pretty much like stock, not stiff at all. Any decent brand lowering springs will still give you a good ride. Only downside in my experience is increased wear on the suspension part, bushings and the like. I'm thinking about buying the Swifts for my car as well.
The Swift "Sport" Springs, which is the only model made by them for the 2ng Gen Honda Fit 09-13 (they also have the "sport' springs for the 1st and 3rd gen as well.. different part numbers), are all around a 1" to 1.2" drop for the front and rear. Ride comfort is about the same as the stock setup. Btw, the "break in" time can take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month before the full drop is realized.
Where did you place the jack to lift the rear end? There's a rectangular piece at the center rear, but it bends with the jack under it. Thanks for the video!
Yo, hows it holding up 2 years later?
Make sure you trim your bump stops
My car came with these from used car dealership, had I known the 2015 Honda Fit has no quick strut kits available, I never would've bought the car. With the lowered springs my car hits everything, theres little ground clearance, now I have to replace the rock guard due to it hitting things, driveways, railings in car washes, fml
My Fit is 1" hire and I still destroyed that rock guard. I plan on replacing it with a stop sign.
Thanks for this video. Love how its straight to the point. Didn't think I would lower mine, but figured I needed to replace my struts and shocks anyways, might as well give the swifts a try.
hi how many finger gap by the fender thru the tires after the lowering spring settle.? thank you
Anywhere from 1 to 2 fingers... just depends on the rim's size and width, as well as the tire's profile (ie, 55/50/45/40). Example... I have two friends, and their set up has 205/45/16 tires on 16x7 rims (with a 40mm offset), and they have around 1 1/2.
Did you have to pre-load the front suspension before tightening the control arm? I did not do so. I might need to go back 😣
You want to wait to fully tighten the control arm bolts until the car is sitting under its own weight
@@halonjim6788 Thanks for the reply. Hopefully I can fix that easily. Think I can take it off and back on while it's still on the ground? Or do I need to jack it up and take the wheels off again?
Boo Chub TV!! You should probably kick it back up jut to be safe. It’s not the end of the world but better safe than sorry
@@halonjim6788 I ended up going back and preloading. I agree, risking a mechanical failure would not be worth it.
I have a first gen is it still good ?
It's the raid softer ??...
Love the wider tire, is just what the car needs. If I wanted to got this same route with the stock springs, I should not worry at all about rubbing then? You think is safe to add a 1/2" to 1" wheel spacers in the back as well, and any you would recommend? Thanks for the vids.
I have a 2007 Honda fit S with 15x8 rims they poke out but I dont rub
straight to the point thanks
What is offset of the wheels you installed?
According to Konig's website, these wheels are a 40mm offset, which is good news for someone like me who's been stressing out about my own GE. There's a wheel I would like with a +38 offset and based on this video, 2 more mm won't make much difference in the wheels/tires poking out too far. And if that happens, the fenders can always be pulled out a little to cover that poke.
have you installed a camber kit?
Not yet. This guy did: www.fitfreak.net/forums/3rd-generation-gk-specific-suspension-brakes-sub-forum/86981-gk-camber-bolts.html
@@halonjim6788 do the wheels rub?
Nope. I was worried that they might but there’s plenty of clearance around the tire
For anyone seeing this....REMEMBER to cut 1'' off bump stops
