He certainly was into self depreciation as a form of humor and as a way to communicate to the audience that he was one of them, not some arrogant snob of a superstar.
1983 my little 5 yr old self was taking a walk around the park holding my mommas hand. There on the ground was a collectors card with a picture of a young Elvis on it. I declare to my mom that he’s going to be my boyfriend. My mom tells me that it would be kind of hard since he’s not alive anymore. I tell her I don’t care he’s still my boyfriend. Yup, Elvis was my first love and I know I’m not alone with that statement. 😂🤣
When I was a little girl in the 1970s I was in love with Elvis Presley and wanted to marry him. I collected anything I could get my hands on about him, 8-Track tape, vinyl records, magazines etc. Then I saw on T.V. that he had died and I watched coverage of his funeral. I was devastated, crying.
The song that made me an Elvis. Every Elvis fan has that moment where they start paying attention and once his voice is heard, you’re an Elvis fan for life!
He was so loving and humble.. That’s why he’s as if he’s still here with us. He never forgot where he came from.. poor, truly the American dream came true for him.. He will always be loved and never forgotten..
When I watch and listen to Elvis Presley's performance of this song, I just start to cry. The performance is so beautiful, I get really emotional when I see and hear him sing so sweetly.
Elvis was the first cassette i ever bought when i was ten in 93. I listened to it on a small clock radio, wore it out. His voice is so nostalgic to me. Reminds me of simpler times when loved ones were still around. What a talent and inspiration, definitely influenced my singing style!
Elvis chose not to do the speaking part here! He must have been tired of saying it,because, as you saw, he started laughing in the middle of the first sentence & then returned to the song! Since you never heard this song before I will provide the spoken part that is in the original recording, (which you really ought to listen to because it shows what a great actor Elvis was & his deep spoken voice is magnificent!) It went like this; "I wonder if you are lonesome tonight!,Someone once said the world is a stage & each must play a part. Act 1 was when we met ! I fell in love with you as my sweetheart! You read your lines so cleverly & never missed a cue !,Then came Act2; You seemed to change. You acted strange ! Why I 've never known ! Honey, you lied when you said you loved me & I had no cause to doubt you! But I 'd rather go on hearing your lies than to go on living without you! Now the stage is bare & I am standing there with emptiness all around & if you won't come back to me, then they can bring the curtain down!" (In case you are wondering, yes I do have a life!! It has however , been enriched with the music of Elvis Aaron Presley! I am just a fan but know how to appreciate quality when I see it! This is why I share these verses with you) You are absolutely right , he was an absolute professional ! He never allowed little distractions to interrupt his performances! He never took himself too seriously ( curled lip.comment) Yet ,he delivered his lyrics with musical love! "Are you Lonesome Tonight " is one of his many masterpieces! Check out the original, vintage version,! It will blow you away as well! Thanks again for sharing our love for our dear friend! Perfect reaction, as usual!
Francine Lima the spoken part is amazing on the original studio recording, but hard to capture that kind of dramatic reading live. From the intro here, you can tell he thought that part was too melodramatic for this performance.
You go Francine you said it all nothing left to say MISSISSIPPI ELVIS JUNKIE LB I never seem him sing on stage with the verbal part except for the laughing one but he still DON'T do all the verbal part. Maybe the verbal part had a special meaning to him. That's from Shakespeare THOSE words a quotation

I have been watching Elvis for 42 yrs. non stop. I am 52 now. You entertain me with a whole new perspective! Take a look at Trouble from the 1958 film King Creole plus Power of my Love 1969.
Elvis' talent, looks and charisma were off the charts....such a unique performer (one of the best, if not the best). Like your reactions my friend. All the best!
Elvis’ voice is ONE OF A KIND that is instantly recognizable by almost every person!! Elvis never goes out of style!! He will never be replicated. Simply a gift from God🙏🏼🕺🏻
I love that black leather suit. I stared at that for quite a bit when I was a Graceland. It was like it held some magical power. As I drifted through his outfits I kept going back to that one. Love the 68 special. I was 5 and when he came on I decided that was my husband. We all know when a 5 yr old falls in love it's deep and it's real.
3 interesting things about Elvis regarding how ultimately cool he was; he died his hair black like Tony Curtis who Elvis thought was very cool, he once said all he was trying to do throughout his career was to be as cool as Dean Martin, and if you don't know this it's about the most fascinating thing about Elvis, Elvis who was so special, so unique, so unlike anybody else . . . Elvis had a twin brother who died at birth - can you even begin to imagine what it would have been like if there was someone who looked, sounded, and carried himself just like Elvis Presley?
Love your reaction to this and your laughter...it made me laugh..again! It’s called tuning into Elvis and his enigma and you have tuned in and read the signals loud and clear! Thanks Jamel and long live the King! 👑
The coolest guy ever walked this earth😂🤣amazzzinggg... another number 1 in 1960 for six weeks ... there is a awesome laughing version of this in concert ... a man in the audience takes his wig of and elvis is cut up ... very funny his laugh is contagious ... love it your fab Jamel too 😂🤣x
This was Elvis’ televised “Comeback Special” in 1968. Check out the whole performance. I love the acoustic jam session with his band and cracking jokes. And the black leather suit...oh baby. Beautiful voice and man.
When they were filming this part of the special that had no audience so they went next door to the Bob's Big Boy and had all patrons come in and sit around the stage.
I love your videos, my dude. I've never even been a huge Elvis fan, but I've heard more of his stuff and actually become a bit of a fan of his just thanks to your entertaining reaction videos than I would ever have otherwise. Keep up the awesomeness, man. Cheers from Virginia Beach
I remember begging my mom to let me stay up and watch this. They had so much fun on that stage that night. Laughing and goofing around. All around the stage were girls. I was at home crying and saying “ I Love You Elvis”...haha. I will always love him, he was so GOOD LOOKING. Great Reaction...yours always are. Thank you
More powerful and talented without one once of effort. It’s like he’s just talking yet he knows he’s on TV but it doesn’t matter he remains himself like as if he was just playing his guitar and singing on his couch at Garacland. Unreal! He literally had it all!
Mr 😎. Beautiful song, amazing control of his voice and not taking himself seriously at all. Saw him reading a note someone handed him while he sang a song in Las Vegas-hilarious-didn’t miss a beat
When Elvis blew into his jacket like that...he was wearing a leather jacket and leather pants. He was burning up. He even commented several times in the sit down shows of the '68 comeback special...he'd say "Boy this leather suit is hot, I ain't kiddin'"
The 1968 Comeback Special. I still need to find that whole thing and buy it some day. My Grandma is his Biggest fan i know, she got me into Elvis from a very very young age (like 5ish) and i got her a 68 comeback special collector's doll still in the box on her 75th b-day. That man was Amazing.
Elvis could get away with anything on stage, he just always had the crowd in the palm of his hand no matter what he did. I think his realness was a huge part of his draw. What you saw was the real deal. He was one of a kind for sure.
Your Elvis stuff is off the chart. I saw him at 8 years old. His comments as he got older during a song were hilarious. Glad he has a place in your heart .
You must do "It's Now Are Never", Elvis's biggest selling single. He hits it out of the park. His voice is so powerful and he proves it in "It's Now Are never".
Like I said last week I really enjoy your Elvis day it's like you sings that in your own living room just playing Just For You and I did enjoy the fifties to keep up the good work
Hit his clothing style with this black leather outfit and his jumpsuits we're really awesome! I would also like to pulling out that he has an awesome voice to sing any song! Elvis also has a good sense of humor. I was also add to that list totally awesome good looks! A very handsome man! I loved the sideburns and I grew up in the era in my young age of when people were sideburns like that and I wish they would come back because I think they're cool and sexy! Just my thought. I love your reaction and I laughed when you called them pork chop sideburns cuz I ain't never heard them called that before! Pork chop sideburns😂🤣❤
As a teen I went through a stage of watching every Elvis movie and documentary on him I could find 😍😍 He was an extraordinarily talented man with a big heart for others!
Jamel, lately I've been checking out a lot of Elvis First listens, because there is very little new unheard Elvis material out there...for me anyway. I am so intrigued by people that really don't know the catalogue of Elvis....most people concentrate on the 50's, but his 70's catalogue, to me, is by far and away the best period of Elvis' career. Vocally and technically, the 70's define what Elvis is and what he wanted to sing...after all he did proclaim during the '68 Comeback, that he would never do another song he didn't believe in. So, if you want to know the real Elvis, at least the music HE wanted to do...focus from '68 onward. Anyway, back to your channel, you are by far, the most entertaining, articulate and enthusiastic reviewer I've encountered yet!! Keep up the great work!! Suggestions, It's Over from '73 Aloha, I Can't Stop Loving You from "That's The Way It Is" and personally , my wedding song to my beautiful wife Rachel, "I Just Can't Help Believin'" from "That's the Way It Is" 1970. Thank You!!...and keep on discovering the legendary magic and talents of Elvis Presley!
Jamel I just Love you, you bring so much joy to the world through every piece of amazing music you listen too. You are teaching so many people how to listen to music with their hearts. Thank you dear friend. Thank you
Elvis lives in you Jamel - maybe you're the reincarnation of the great man! You have such an amazing voice yourself - great moves - love the shoulders going! Love from Australia!
Most people know Elvis had a twin "Jesse Garon" who was still born. His mom told him that's why he had such good rhythm, because he had a "backbeat" in the womb:)
Please react to his “laughing version” of Are You Lonesome Tonight! I think you’d get a real kick out of it. Elvis changed up the lyrics and an audience member’s reaction made him lose it for the rest of the song😂
Is that the version where instead of singing "do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there", he sang "do you gaze at your bald spot and wish you had hair"? He laughed his ass off the rest of the song. It's hilarious. 😆
Lisa Rush thats the one! I think he sometimes did it as a running gag, but apparently in that version, he noticed a bald man in the front row and lost it for the duration of the song😂
Great videos,, here is some you might like to watch; Elvis concert 25yrs after he died.(25th Anniversary Concert.) and also Funny Moments with Elvis.. NBC-tv Special 1968) had me laughing. ❤️👍👍👌
My favorite is Elvis doing "Crawfish" at the opening scene of the movie "King Creole". The Stan Campbell version of "Crawfish" is great, but as always, Elvis is the King.
Listen to the original recording. It is great. This was also great, but in the context of a media comeback. His songful delivery was astounding in the recordings. In live performances he tended to laugh and mix things up. Part of his charm. But to really appreciate Elvis listen to studio recordings.
My mom had tons of Elvis records. If your able to find it, there is a version of this song where Elvis is cracking up. The part where he says : " do the chairs in your parlor seem empty and bare.." instead of saying the next line "do you gaze at your doorstep..." instead he says "do you gaze at your bald head and wish you had hair." Classic Elvis laugh on that one.
Thank you so much for your videos on Elvis, been in love with the man since I was 6 years old, I am now in my late 50's. I would like to suggest a song for you, it is called Long Black Limousine by Elvis.
My 10 yr grandson loves Elvis especially I got a feeling in my body. He'll get in the car and say Grandad I'm going to play guitar like that and his other favourite is Patch it up live of course 💖💖
This was my Grandma (who was born in 1912)’s favourite song and as such one of the songs played at her funeral. I didn’t discover until about 10/15 years ago that it’s actually a cover of a Carter Family song and of course a younger generation member of The Carter Family then went onto marry Elvis’ old label mate at Sun Records, Johnny Cash.
I'm from Hawaii and it was Elvis Presley who did a concert here that was televised world wide it was a early version of pay preview the concerts profits went to help build the THE ARIZONA MEMORIAL in Pearl Harbor. The concert was ALOHA FRIM Elvis
Talking about Charisma, hope you can someday react to "Return To Sender'. Its a clip from the movie Girls Girls Girls I believe. Anyway, Elvis is looking and sounding in his absolute prime in that one! Long, tall, cool and dressed in a sporty black outfit with swagger galore. And the song is very catchy with a good feel!
He's amazing 🤩!!!! And somewhere in that whole performance....he had forgotten the words to part of a song..... so he started making up words, .... and laughing.....it was just humbling..... because like you say, he wasn't concerned about being silly..... just a gracious loved and most definitely missed entertainer
You're right. Elvis was a funny guy--and never lost his sense of humor.
Kim Newton No he didn’t he had his sense of humor until his last breath.
ELVIS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND CHARMING MAN ON THIS PLANET I WILL LOVE YOU MY KING FOREVER FROM ITALY
He had such a hilarious sense of humor, but it was his timing that was so natural & made it that much better.

I hope you are finally beginning to understand why his many fans Love him so much. There will Never Ever be another Elvis Presley Ever.
Men loved Elvis as much as women, an all time favorite " The King"
marcell Williams that’s why he preferred to not be called the King because there was only 1 King he said.

Beautiful, talented, and a sense of humor, what more could a woman.
I love the man's humility despite his fame.

Good eye! I didn't notice Elvis blowing something off his jacket. Elvis had a million dollar smile, like no one else.
I love the videos where he changes the words to his own songs. 😂 He would amuse himself & break out laughing.
Those were four great reviews Jamel. I loved it!
Jamel. You have such a wonderful, warm, and fun loving personality. I enjoy You as much as the music. ThankYou.
Garon with an O to rhyme w Aron
Please react to his “laughing version” of Are You Lonesome Tonight! I think you’d get a real kick out of it. Elvis changed up the lyrics and an audience member’s reaction made him lose it for the rest of the song😂
He apparently did this all the time and some people think it wasn't on purpose, that he actually forgot the words each time
Is that the version where instead of singing "do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there", he sang "do you gaze at your bald spot and wish you had hair"?
H W
I love king Creole.
Ohhhh yeah. That's a great one. Hope Jamel can do that one!
Thank you for sharing jamel,❤u❤👑of music 🙏amen.🎉💎⭐💯💋👍⚡ TCBTLC ⚡ 🇺🇸🇵🇷 Rip Elvis,
My man Elvis beautiful inside and out. Take My Hand Precious Lord is another you should hear
"Elvis is the definition of COOL"❤️❤️❤️
Awesome reaction !!! I was laughing right along with you . Great tribute to the KING !!!
Everything from this whole 1968 special was him in his element! Just a few guys perfect instruments and harmony! Enjoying your journey too!
He was just naturally cool.
Love you,Elvis, now FOREVER xxxooo
Thank you so much for your videos on Elvis, been in love with the man since I was 6 years old, I am now in my late 50's. I would like to suggest a song for you, it is called Long Black Limousine by Elvis.
Best part of this is hearing Elvis hit those high, light notes his younger years favored..faithfully caught them , a little less light..more power..
I appreciate that you actually pay attention to small details, like when he blew out and you laughed. Lol
Did you ever do, Memories” from this stage with his black jacket is a good one of it. Or “Little Sister.” Man so many good ones!
Totally agree with you. TOO many to choose 😄😄
My 10 yr grandson loves Elvis especially I got a feeling in my body. He'll get in the car and say Grandad I'm going to play guitar like that and his other favourite is Patch it up live of course 💖💖
Love that song,,thank you Jamel😉👌
This was my Grandma (who was born in 1912)’s favourite song and as such one of the songs played at her funeral. I didn’t discover until about 10/15 years ago that it’s actually a cover of a Carter Family song and of course a younger generation member of The Carter Family then went onto marry Elvis’ old label mate at Sun Records, Johnny Cash.
This was the fav of an elderly lady I know, she sang it at our Christmas gatherings❤always remembered❤
When I was young I would go to sleep listening to this song on the radio .the original is great he talks some of the verse .
@@garryiglesias4074 I live the part where elvis talks now the stage is bare while im standing there with Emtynss all around .
@@garryiglesias4074 agree.but the original is beautiful like elvis .
You're part of what keeps me sane Jamal. If you only knew how much joy you bring..especially now. God Bless you💞
Elvis will always live on in our hearts.and souls.
