  • How long does liquor really last after you open the bottle? Unfortunately, the longevity of your rum, whiskey, vodka, tequila, and mezcal is not indefinite. We're not saying pop the top and drink your liquor quickly, but the clock is ticking. Flavor, alcohol content, and potency will diminish over the coming months.

Taste is subjective for sure, but I was fortunate to receive a few (long since opened) bottles of bourbon and scotch from a friend who had been cleaning the home of a loved one and can say that the quality had not diminished significantly. Now I am speaking to what would have been budget whisk(e)y, the bottles were all 1970's bottles of Cutty Sark, Old Grandad, and Jim Beam. Not mind-blowing, but still wonderful spirits.

Wine has to be drunken within three days or four. This is because wine gradually turns into vinegar over time after opening.
There is no way to keep it for much longer that I know of other than not opening it at all.

At my house a bottle of liquor doesn't last very long at all after opening thanks to my alcoholism. 😵‍💫

This makes sense, I had a friend in highschool that had a basement bar. We drank their parents liquor and had good times, but later we had fresh booze and it fucked us up!
