Honestly, I'm not sure if it makes much of a difference in the silver or not but I have noticed that it seems to help reduce the amount of dark fire scale left on the button. If the whole thing is going into a pickling solution afterwards though, I'm not sure that really matters lol

Just a standard multipurpose torch head with MAP gas.
Why do you add borax on the button after the pour? :)

@@GraceNoteForge yes indeed that’s the correct way
@@GraceNoteForge I think adding it sooner could possibly keep it molten a bit longer helping to prevent shrinkage porosity
In class we always add the borax before the pour.
