That opening was mind blowing, in the best way possible. It’s one thing to read about a Daemonic invasion in a codex (5th edition), hearing about it from one who lived it gives a glimpse of the true horror of the event. Beautifully done, Loremaster. It’s storytelling like this that’s kept me hooked to your channel.
I couldn't agree more! The story had me intrigued, disturbed, sympathetic, and for a while I felt legitimately uncomfortable. Then when the Grey Knights show up, I was awed and had goosebumps all over me. Really great stuff that Baldermort can elicit such a range of emotions, and that's really consistent with the 40k universe, right? The despair and the darkness, but also the glimpses of hope and light. Plus it's really grimdark that the poor storyteller believes that he is going to be "cleansed" of the experience, when we all know that the Imperium is going to kill most, if not all, of the human survivors of this story. They evolve, now they can act more in the open and they can work along side and start other successor chapters, and teach others some of their techniques I.e.The Exorcists etc.

Weirdly I’m slowly realizing that I would be extremely vulnerable to chaos corruption. I believe that if exposed to the events that you have described I would not only break but most likely completely give in. If my memory were not erased I would likely look back on the events with slowly emerging fondness. Yes I would be horrified at first, but I know myself. Late some nights I would think back on the rush of emotions. The pain. The pleasure. And wonder “was it truly that awful?” This would mix with the drudgery and despair of my normal life, especially in the war-hammer universe. (I suffer from depression and have realized that bi-polar disorder runs in my family. So it’s more than likely one of the main contributing factors) Fueled by a need to feel this way again I could see myself calling upon whatever beings caused this.

@@ghostwood9174 don't tempt me. between 3 editions of collecting black templar, my current main army of custodes, tau, admech, space wolves, sisters of silence and imperial knights theres far to many grey models that are half painted and have been for several months. But after taking them for a spin on tabletop sim their play style is quite interesting and intriguing...
One correction. There is one chapter that is allowed to know the GK exist: the Space Wolves. At the end of the Months of Shame, after Grimnar killed the inquisitor Lord, & Bjorn told everyone to play nice, part of the agreement was that the Wolves would be allowed to know of the Grey Knights.
I was in class, earbuds in ear, my unrelated to warhammer video paused because I needed to pay attention. Suddenly, I hear a voice start to talk. Tell a story. I freaked out. Of course I would, who wouldn’t, this narrator voice just suddenly appeared. None off the tabs were of it. I listened for a bit, and then closed my current TH-cam tab. Sigh of relief when it stopped. I open TH-cam again, and in my history it shows that this video had been recently viewed. TH-cam glitched and suddenly played the audio over an unrelated paused vid.

That is why they don't have primarus marines yet, Guilliman strickly forbid Caul from working with traitor geneseed. And although Caul did not follow that restriction to to spirit, he does seem to have followed it to the letter.

Tiny Gripe! The first C in "Cicatrix" is an S sound, as in Scar The word might come from "Cicatriz", the word for Scar in Spanish. Google says tree scars! Subbed for the rest of the voicework. That shit was good.
Perhaps it is time for the Grey Knights to step out of the shadows and join the fray in proper fashion. And, if I may suggest, I can think of no better force that could enter the Garden of Nurgle and rescue Maiden of Life.

All the soul sacrifices for the golden throne are being used to make warp marines and are used as reinforcements for the lost legions there.. These are seripham guard.
Four men to create three ordos of the inquisition. That does, indeed, sound like Malcador's sleight of hand. We rattle on by without giving it too much thought. Unless. Perhaps we wonder why not one apiece? One hidden? One to watch something else?
They are a specialist unit, they will always be needed. No matter the advanced armour and technology the Primaris have. It isn't especially made and built just for combating daemons. I highly recommend reading the Grey Knights omnibus.
Another great video, and theory. In defense of grey knights, in my opinion they are the true pinnacle of human acomplishment, and i mean it. The fact that humans could produce an army capable of trully be "incorruptible", it a proof that the imperium with all it's faults, and humanity in general produced something that was not accomplished in all human history. The basic problem, is what you said the cicatrix; the problem is beyond human capacity. Imagine that the cicatrix was no more, the grey knight s would dominate, extinguishing with easy any little and sporadic infestation that could appear. What i think is gonna happen in 40k: First of all humanity will stop being the most powerfull empire of the galaxy, this is inevitable. We had our 15 minutes of fame, we were the best, like all other races.All the empires fall, all, no exeptions, this is proven. The necrosn will awaken, each faction has it's own agenda, and they have the capacity of destroying all the other races, and they don't have the capacity to really handling them. Humanity doesn't have the technology to fight necrons. They will close the cicatrix, eventually, the warp is the natural antagonist of necrons, and they will rule supreme again. The imperium will be dismantled one way or another; and the human territories will be reduced. . This is already happening, how many worlds of humanity are now destroyed-errased,-eaten by the warp from their original quantity???, 40%?, 30%??, each war (specilaly against chaos) costs like 10 planets, or is it more??, and ...are the planets a renewable resource?, NOPE, they aren't, as far as i know, the imperium doesn have a "planet factory" like the one in hitchikers guide of the galaxy. Maybe the silent king would proclamate himself as "ruler of all races, all life", "heir of the mantle of reposability", and they will fuse or chance bodies with other races to experience life. Some live, some die, some protest, some fight, some become one withe the warp, some become spiritual and trascend phisicality, etc. But the imperim will be no more. I don't like it, but this is the time of the necrons.
I've been thinking about this recently and it's yet another reason why I dislike the primaris marines, if they truly are uncorubtable then they have made the grey knights completely redundant. The greatest advantage the grey knights have is the very purity of their spirits, the lures of chaos have no sway over them. They achieve this by putting their recruits through the most intensive screening process in the imperium, to locate a single grey knights will mean the death of many millions of potential recruits, and it's my understanding that almost any person can be successfully made into a primaris marine. So regardless of how effective that single grey knight is it's pretty much always gonna be better to have the several hundred thousand equally incorruptible primaris marines. Tldr: another example of how bad the lore of primaris marines actually is.
Hhmmmm. I think I see where you are coming from. I never know everything and this is only my opinion (so will nee checking and is certainly no better than yours) - I thought that the inference from Cawl that the Primaris were incorruptible was more referring to their gene seed and not their will/spirit. Making that sort of a claim seems silly to me. Cawl was a biologist and geneticist, so I always assumed he was just referring to the fact he felt he had cleared away the quirks like the red rage and mutations that had developed over the period of the Imperium that had led to so much gene seed having to be discarded. So, the Grey KNights are pure of soul - the Primaris are pure of DNA, is the way I thought of it. Does that make sense, or am I talking twaddle again? The lore of the original marines makes no sense. If there is a million marines that makes them less than one a planet a truly insignificant number in the scale of the imperium
considering the 4,500,000,000,000,000,000 people on hive worlds alone, if the Grey Knights are one in a billion then their could be 4,500,000,000 just lying around?
@@neon-lake I thought that space marines take their geneseed from their primarchs (who in turn were handcrafted by the emp). Both custodes and grey knights apparently take their genes from him directly.

It doesn't seem that way As the best time for geneseed implants seems to be during or after adolescence Custodes seem to receive gene augmentation far before that, in infancy even Though I don't imagine it's too different than actual geneseed There is enough difference obviously to create an entirely different class of warrior

A Grey Knight is like, if you took the love children of Chuck Norris and John Wick, sent them to 40k version of Sparta, only graduated the top 5%, than put them through Space Marine training, all the while they were being tested and honing their psychic abilities, but only the top 1% would be allowed to go further to become Grey Knights, they are monsters amongst beasts!!! It is time for them to step out of the shadows, throw off the cloak that hides them and shine with the light of the Emperor for all to see!!!!

Agreed. The Grey Knights way of operating is obsolete; trying to keep things a secret, wiping memories (well, it could still be helpful for those with PTSD and similar things), but the Grey Knights themselves are not. They are the Imperium's elite of the elite in the fight against the forces of Chaos; to disband them would be idiocy *and* heresy beyond measure. They are just as capable of smiting the forces of Chaos now as they were in the past (along with any unfortunate Xenos that they are sent to eradicate; I almost feel sorry for them) if not more, for now they don't have to focus as much on secrecy, instead just focus on beating the shit out of the forces of Chaos. The Grey Knights will remain, they just need to change their methods to accommodate the times they are in.
Alas, I don't agree with Watts. It denudes the need for one of our most important attributes as humans, dreams. The dreams of hope, the dreams of a better tomorrow. :)

I am only a fan of warhammer myself. I have zero experience in entertainment or writing - except for my own run RPGs. So its impossible for me to tell if something is any good or not. The fool believes everything they write is magnificent - the fiend believes everything written it regurgitation of Shakespeare anyway. Difficult to judge your own work. When the Grey Knights show up you are already dead. I always loved how the citizens look at them for salvation but only receive cleansing fire. I hope they retain all these dark elements moving into the new era.

Amazing tale and rendition of the Daemons of the Warp aswell as the Grey Knights.. I looove everything about the Warp, psykers n daemons. I think lore wise they'd be neat if they stuck to their traditions, being members of the inquisition. I'd imagine the inquisition doesn't want their military branch to have connections with the primarch, so primaris is off the table. I think the secrecy is their best trait, and the rift is an easy cover up

You captured exactly why I love Slaanesh the most of all the Chaos Gods. The worst part isn't the horror, the pain, or the revulsion. Not even close. The worst part of the entire experience is that _you like it._ That is why the Prince of Pleasure is so terrifying. Also, if Loken and Garro were founding members of the Grey Knights, doesn't that mean at least some Grey Knights have gene-seed originating from the Traitor Legions?
No, those of the Knights Errant had their gene seed changed. It's presumed it was overwritten by the code derived directly from the Emperor. The new progenoid glands also strengthened their will against Chaos. So technically but no. For example Janus was a son of Magnus who was infused with a chard of Magnus' soul to become Janus. That was loyalist from a traitor legion with a piece of his traitor Primarch's soul infused into his own. And he was the first commander of the Grey Kights. Loyalty to The Emperor above all and incorruptiblity of purpose was FAR more important than parentage.

This would mix with the drudgery and despair of my normal life, especially in the war-hammer universe. (I suffer from depression and have realized that bi-polar disorder runs in my family. So it’s more than likely one of the main contributing factors)
Fueled by a need to feel this way again I could see myself calling upon whatever beings caused this.

@@ghostwood9174 don't tempt me. between 3 editions of collecting black templar, my current main army of custodes, tau, admech, space wolves, sisters of silence and imperial knights theres far to many grey models that are half painted and have been for several months. But after taking them for a spin on tabletop sim their play style is quite interesting and intriguing...
One correction. There is one chapter that is allowed to know the GK exist: the Space Wolves. At the end of the Months of Shame, after Grimnar killed the inquisitor Lord, & Bjorn told everyone to play nice, part of the agreement was that the Wolves would be allowed to know of the Grey Knights.
I was in class, earbuds in ear, my unrelated to warhammer video paused because I needed to pay attention. Suddenly, I hear a voice start to talk. Tell a story. I freaked out. Of course I would, who wouldn’t, this narrator voice just suddenly appeared. None off the tabs were of it. I listened for a bit, and then closed my current TH-cam tab. Sigh of relief when it stopped. I open TH-cam again, and in my history it shows that this video had been recently viewed. TH-cam glitched and suddenly played the audio over an unrelated paused vid.

That is why they don't have primarus marines yet, Guilliman strickly forbid Caul from working with traitor geneseed. And although Caul did not follow that restriction to to spirit, he does seem to have followed it to the letter.
I don't know what your day job is but I would be giving that up and trying to find out how to get into audio books.

Someone needs to do the inquisitions wetwork
Another great video, and theory. In defense of grey knights, in my opinion they are the true pinnacle of human acomplishment, and i mean it. The fact that humans could produce an army capable of trully be "incorruptible", it a proof that the imperium with all it's faults, and humanity in general produced something that was not accomplished in all human history. The basic problem, is what you said the cicatrix; the problem is beyond human capacity. Imagine that the cicatrix was no more, the grey knight s would dominate, extinguishing with easy any little and sporadic infestation that could appear.
What i think is gonna happen in 40k: First of all humanity will stop being the most powerfull empire of the galaxy, this is inevitable. We had our 15 minutes of fame, we were the best, like all other races.All the empires fall, all, no exeptions, this is proven.
The necrosn will awaken, each faction has it's own agenda, and they have the capacity of destroying all the other races, and they don't have the capacity to really handling them. Humanity doesn't have the technology to fight necrons. They will close the cicatrix, eventually, the warp is the natural antagonist of necrons, and they will rule supreme again. The imperium will be dismantled one way or another; and the human territories will be reduced. . This is already happening, how many worlds of humanity are now destroyed-errased,-eaten by the warp from their original quantity???, 40%?, 30%??, each war (specilaly against chaos) costs like 10 planets, or is it more??, and ...are the planets a renewable resource?, NOPE, they aren't, as far as i know, the imperium doesn have a "planet factory" like the one in hitchikers guide of the galaxy. Maybe the silent king would proclamate himself as "ruler of all races, all life", "heir of the mantle of reposability", and they will fuse or chance bodies with other races to experience life. Some live, some die, some protest, some fight, some become one withe the warp, some become spiritual and trascend phisicality, etc. But the imperim will be no more. I don't like it, but this is the time of the necrons.

I've been thinking about this recently and it's yet another reason why I dislike the primaris marines, if they truly are uncorubtable then they have made the grey knights completely redundant. The greatest advantage the grey knights have is the very purity of their spirits, the lures of chaos have no sway over them. They achieve this by putting their recruits through the most intensive screening process in the imperium, to locate a single grey knights will mean the death of many millions of potential recruits, and it's my understanding that almost any person can be successfully made into a primaris marine. So regardless of how effective that single grey knight is it's pretty much always gonna be better to have the several hundred thousand equally incorruptible primaris marines. Tldr: another example of how bad the lore of primaris marines actually is.
Hhmmmm. I think I see where you are coming from. I never know everything and this is only my opinion (so will nee checking and is certainly no better than yours)
- I thought that the inference from Cawl that the Primaris were incorruptible was more referring to their gene seed and not their will/spirit. Making that sort of a claim seems silly to me.
Cawl was a biologist and geneticist, so I always assumed he was just referring to the fact he felt he had cleared away the quirks like the red rage and mutations that had developed over the period of the Imperium that had led to so much gene seed having to be discarded.
So, the Grey KNights are pure of soul - the Primaris are pure of DNA, is the way I thought of it.
Does that make sense, or am I talking twaddle again? (It does happen a lot)

Agreed. The Grey Knights way of operating is obsolete; trying to keep things a secret, wiping memories (well, it could still be helpful for those with PTSD and similar things), but the Grey Knights themselves are not. They are the Imperium's elite of the elite in the fight against the forces of Chaos; to disband them would be idiocy *and* heresy beyond measure. They are just as capable of smiting the forces of Chaos now as they were in the past (along with any unfortunate Xenos that they are sent to eradicate; I almost feel sorry for them) if not more, for now they don't have to focus as much on secrecy, instead just focus on beating the shit out of the forces of Chaos. The Grey Knights will remain, they just need to change their methods to accommodate the times they are in.

I have zero experience in entertainment or writing - except for my own run RPGs. So its impossible for me to tell if something is any good or not. The fool believes everything they write is magnificent - the fiend believes everything written it regurgitation of Shakespeare anyway. Difficult to judge your own work.

I think lore wise they'd be neat if they stuck to their traditions, being members of the inquisition. I'd imagine the inquisition doesn't want their military branch to have connections with the primarch, so primaris is off the table. I think the secrecy is their best trait, and the rift is an easy cover up

You captured exactly why I love Slaanesh the most of all the Chaos Gods. The worst part isn't the horror, the pain, or the revulsion. Not even close. The worst part of the entire experience is that _you like it._ That is why the Prince of Pleasure is so terrifying.

No, those of the Knights Errant had their gene seed changed. It's presumed it was overwritten by the code derived directly from the Emperor. The new progenoid glands also strengthened their will against Chaos. So technically but no. For example Janus was a son of Magnus who was infused with a chard of Magnus' soul to become Janus. That was loyalist from a traitor legion with a piece of his traitor Primarch's soul infused into his own. And he was the first commander of the Grey Kights. Loyalty to The Emperor above all and incorruptiblity of purpose was FAR more important than parentage.
