I knew PreMath would show a more elegant solution than mine. I used x=3y/2+25 and the Ladder Theorem. The algebra was a bear but it was doable.

The answers are x = 70 and y = 30. We know bc 70 is 35 doubled and this is consistent with the ratio of the base. I hope that that makes sense.
