I said that while I was riding my neighbors horse when I was 4-5.
That was me at 3, when I was being led around and doing a tiny trot. I was convinced we were cantering.

I'm a trail guide. This cracked me up. Idk how many times I've had a horse break into a little trot to catch up and the guest shrieks "HE'S RUNNING!!"
The disappointment when do you think you're going to see hunky men but you just see a bunch of helicopter moms with their 9-year-old daughters

Yup I was looking at that too, expecting heels up in the air and feet all the way in the stirrups up to the heel.

I haven't had many lesson so far since weather has been bad but my instructor said that they were fine.
Also as a non-equestrian o can't believe this is what other non-equestriqns say lol

Wasn’t all that relatable when I was younger, but now it’s hard to walk after long day of sitting at work. Takes a few minutes to loosen up and straighten hips and knees.
Maybe it’s time to find a different job or at least cut the hours!
Anyway, jumping down from horses back - my legs don’t want to work right or even hold me up.
That's what I was thinking! She was walking bolegged according to Merriam-Websters dictionary of 1960. 😊
You gotta do one on weird things couples do when they're both equestrians. For example, when me and my girlfriend are in the car having a conversation and pass by a stable, we both pause for just a second, look, and then resume the conversation without missing a beat. Also, things that couples do when one is an equestrian and the other only does the stall/hay/pasture maintenance work.
I know how to ride but u haven’t done it in a while. Maybe 2-3 ish years. I used to be pretty confident but Ik for a fact that if I tired again I would have to start all over rebuilding that confidence (my horse was a retired barrel horse whose last owner abandoned him so I almost got crushed a few times. But he always checked in my after killing me and made sure I stood back up. If I didn’t he would freak out🤦🏻♀️😂. I can agree tho that people who ride and people who do the maintenance are very different. I actually prefer the maintenance of the horses. I just love being in their presence. As I said before. My horse was a love bug. I would clean his stall with him inside and he would put his head on my shoulders and nibble my hoody strings. Super cute 🥰
@@deanna4519 same here. 5 years ago i had my own horse. He was wery strong and used to do farm work. He didn't like his new job and tried to buck me off and didn't listen to me. I quit riding nad after 5 years i started again, but i lost my confidence, but i'm working on it. I love riding.
I talk to myself and this applies equally to my outer monologues. I also often talk about how ramshackle the stable buildings look. When I'm rich one day, I'm going to build my own range that is an architectural masterpiece.

I actually made an essay for school once talking about how riding IS a sport and as non-equestrians say: "you just sit there and the horse does all the work!" is not actually true!

I HATE when people say all we do is sit there it makes me so angry cuz we use so many mussels you probably have never heard of and we work so hard to ride we don’t just walk and sit there plus so many seconds minutes hours days months and years and so much grain bags hay poop bedding dirt water buckets love care and a ton more go into becoming the best equestrian you can be!

I honestly love doing that by myself. Feels like I’m making up for the missed opportunities. The times I wasn’t allowed to lift because there was a man who was ‘clearly’ more capable than me.

Ideally, really, would be having a mirror for newbies to check themselves in. At least with me it would've gotten the point across waaaay sooner.
So true! I’m a new rider and guilty of most mistakes which makes these videos both funny and embarrassing for me 😂 someone filmed me the other day and I realized there are so many things I do while riding, like leaning backwards sometimes, that I didn’t even know I was doing! There was an instant improvement next time I went to a lesson.
Tucker is such a good boy though dealing with those reins being pulled over his face and the classic "hug dismount" 😂
We watched AND LAUGHED OUT LOUD, the last time you put one of these out. Still think of you, EVERYTIME I pull hay outa my pockets

Before I started riding, I didn't know the difference between a stallion and a gelding. When I learnt what they were, that caused some major secondhand embarrassment from my instructor. Comment your awkward beginner stories.
When I was about 10, I asked my trainer how to tell the difference between a mare and a stallion while we were untacking and grooming the horse after my lesson. She wouldn't tell me xDD
Omg the walking at the end is so accurate, my legs hurt for the full first week to even walk and the most I had done was trotting lmao
My first ever canter, in my mind, it was at least 100km/h. XD
how i felt when i first cantered the horse i'm currently riding. he's a big boy, about 16hh, and has a super smooth western pleasure trot. when i went to canter him though, he has this massive step into it and he had just gotten off basically sitting in a pasture for a few years and so he was obviously a bit excited. when i tell you he was SPEEDING. not only this, but i was off balance because this was my first time riding him and so i had to get used to his big canter (i had transitioned from a 14hh pony with short little legs and the smoothest canter transition and little canter you could ask for) so i had to figure myself out while also calming him down 😅. thankfully he's a very forgiving boy and didn't get mad when i was too leaned forward or discombobulated. he also listened very well despite my disorderly state. since then he's gotten worked more and i've gotten used to his big canter, so we've both mellowed out and we can maintain a good canter together now :) (sorry for the rant)

P.S. I once did the dead horse thing.....but to be fair, I was 8 and that horse had been laying there a really long time and all the other horses where literally all standing around looking at the one horse. Still not sure what that was all about. But the next time I saw the field, there wasn't a horse down.
My mom did the dead horse thing today 😂 we have a show and the geldings, being geldings, were lazing around while the mares were up and about and my mom was like "OMG IS HE DEAD?"

I now in old age need a body next to the horse so I can put my left arm over their shoulder for support before sliding down. Its embarrassing, when I was young I could leap frog mount without using stirrups.

It is said that horses are very intelligent. Even though they can't speak human language, they can remember people who treat them kindly, and once they have established a trusting relationship with them, they will show rich expressions. They are also good at remembering people's faces. Since their eyesight is only 0.6 times better than humans, they use their ears to grasp what is going on around them. Therefore, don't suddenly make loud noises or startle them when they are close to you. Horses have very well-developed ears, as they can hear ultrasonic waves and other sounds that humans cannot. Horses express their emotions by moving their ears. Their field of vision is quite wide, allowing them to see around 350 degrees. Since they are herbivores, their eyes are able to see at a wide angle in order to escape predators. Horses also have a highly developed sense of smell. I would say i consider myself a non-equestrian. I just recently got back into riding after almost a 20 year hiatus. I'm glad i did. Eventually want to build up my confidence so that i can do some trail riding around the area i live in. I really enjoy just interacting with the horses at the equestrian center where i have been taking lessons.
Love your videos. The Equestrian Humor videos have me at times laughing so hard.

What I say is "the actors practised with a helmet".
Even after I read Horseback Riding for Dummies, I still couldn't tell the difference between a walk & a trot. It was only when an emergency happened & I actually saw a police horse trotting that I realised I was so confused. I've always known what a gallop looks like because racing is televised.

I love heartland but sometimes it can just be a little bit too ridiculous. For example when Spartan got colic I have no idea what type of colic he got. From watching the incredible Dr. Pol colic is just basically pain in the abdomen. That can because by multiple different reasons.

I had riding lessons as a kid for a few years, eventually stopped going because the instructor was kinda weird… but I’d love to get on a horse again, just for a bit. I was never particularly good, but being connected to the animal like that is just so relaxing

2:20 is how my instructor insists that I dismount because she uses cheap tack & worries it will break.
2:24: Huns' legs is what I call this. The Huns taught their children to ride from the age of 2, so early that it affected how they learnt to walk.
I want to invite each of my groundie friends round for a day when we just pretend as though there's been an EMP pulse & all the cars are broken but they urgently need to get somewhere & their only option is my horse.

When I heard heartland I was so happy! it’s my favorite show in the whole world! I started watching it from my friend and thats how I got into riding! I have been riding for a couple of months now!
When my brother first started, the instructor asked, "Do you know how you get him to go?" And he yeets the reigns like in the movies. "Nope, that's only in the movies!" And she chuckled. Ahh, those good times.

So true xD although for the galloping part it was the opposite for me; my horse spooked and ran across the arena while I hunkered down and held on and my instructor goes "you just galloped!" and I was like "WHAT". scared but slightly exhilarated haha (most i had done was a canter)
