Universal Balance i have this. Love it for writing. The engine Works so good. But for drawing the engine not Works. When i write i use more presion AND a high angle, so the engine Rotates the lead (2b) so good. But when i am drawing i use a low angle between 45 or 60 degrees and light pressure. And in That way the engine dont Works. This Is one of my favorite mechanical pencils ( i have eight), because has a good balance, good weigth And has a great feeling in my hand. If it only needed less pressure to works the engine would be perfect for drawing.
It does not work for me. When I write, I have to rotate the pencil. Maybe I am not pressing the pencil on paper with enough strength or maybe because of my grip as you said. I am using now GraphGear1000.
Nice detailed video had this pencil for about 6 months and would recommend it a lot. The lead rarely breaks on me, it probably broke 4 times over the time I had it. I had to change my writing style a bit but glad I did because I write more swiftly and smooth.
Yes, I agree. The lead very rarely breaks if you use this pencil correctly. It fits my grip pretty well, so I have really no issues with it. Thanks for your comment!
Universal Balance Your welcome I really recommend this pencil. I had a Pentel graph gear 1000 it has unique features but not a smooth as the Uni Kuru Yoga Roulette.
Eric Fornaro, yes it does take a little longer, but I had this pencil for a while and still have the original eraser, because it's adjustable. If u do get this pencil i recommend to buy a separate white eraser to make things easier.
I agree with Anon We Are Legion, while the eraser provided on the pencil is indeed easily adjustable, I think it should be used as a spare in case you don't have your main eraser. If you use your eraser frequently, a separate standard white eraser would for sure be more practical.
you replace the lead the same way as other mechanical pencils , remove the top , remove the eraser , and load lead through the top. I would recommend not loading more than 2 or 3 leads at any one time though. Hope this helps :)
I just discovered this pencil last night & it kept me awake till dawn looking at reviews. I can't sketch/ draw to save my life but I love mechanical pencils. I will mostly be using it to write, makes notes & draw few lines here & there. Tell me, should I still get it for myself? Is it worth it?
Well if you forget for a second about the Roulette mechanism, you already have a comfortable and well-built pencil. Now, if the reason why you are getting this is the mechanism, then make sure that it is compatible with your pencil grip and handwriting style cause it might or might not work for you. Personally, I use this pencil regularly and love it. Hope this helps!
august_dad I bought the pencil recently and it works like a charm. Just remember that if you write softly, cursive or diagonally this might not be the best. But the advanced model of the kuru toga does have a faster twisting time for a full rotation for those people who don't lift their pencils up as much. Also, only the classic model comes in both 0.7 and 0.5 so if you want a 0.7 you'll have to get the classic. Hope this helps
I have had a lot of really nice mechanical pencils over the years, but NOTHING can compete with this pencil. I have had pencils with retractable sleeves too, but i like this one better.
So I have to out myself and understand that I don't use this pencil often, but I Do like it. I've had it for 21 months and just ran out of the initial lead. I came to your channel specifically to see how to refill the lead. As I watched your review, I can now see that it's not me, it's the pencil. At your 4:13 timepoint where you separate the top and bottom half, mine doesn't unscrew like that. Apparently I have to get a person with a stronger grip to unscrew it for me. Good review.
Zylo Sol - Very cool! I have actually never seen this exact model in blue.I have seen one in light blue, but it was slightly different as it did not have the knurling on the grip section.Good to know they made limited editions. Thanks for your comment and the information.
Should I get this or the pentel graphgear? I kinda want the lead sleave to go in but also want the rotating mechanism. I'm scared if I get the roulette it might stab my other products. Any guidance would be appreciated!
I really wish Kuru Toga would make this style pencil in 0.7mm lead because i am more heavy-handed. I've tried their other pencil that does come in a 0.7mm lead version, but it does not look as nice as this one.
Hello NRG, I think you might be referring to the Zebra DelGuard, which is another mechanical pencil with a pretty cool mechanism preventing lead breakage. Thanks a lot for your comment :)
Good job on the video but the main reason i watch was to see how to discect it because mine is jammed and i really want it fixed but when i got to the part where u just twisted it thats what mine couldnt do it would twist so idk how to get it open ;-;
Like the review , .........and it's like told. To me a very nice working even better looking writing drawing pencil. ThnXs for the Share. :-) Well done .....U.B.
Doesn't work. Bought a Kuru Toga .3mm wit the clear grip/housing. It's pretty much impossible to get it to rotate when writing normally. You have to write nearly vertical and push weird to get it to work. If you press at an angle, you break the lead, or have next to no lead sticking out. Wrote a few paragraphs and it looks like I used several pencils.
@Ben Kenny - Yeah, I think the efficiency of the mechanism will vary based on someone's writing style and the way you hold the pencil. I don't think it will work for everyone. Personally, I use it regularly, and it does work well for me. Alternatively, there is the Zebra DelGuard which also has a mechanism to prevent lead breakage. I haven't tried that one yet though. Cheers.
Mitsubishi hit a home run with both the roulette and the alpha gel KT's. They seem to be favorites for KT lovers. I myself love the alpha gel grip in other Uni writing tools And now with the Dive they have a big potential to have a lot of sales, hopefully it's not too limited and people can get it.. otherwise it will go for crazy prices in the aftermarket
Would this mechanical pencil work for you? If not, why not and what would be your preferred alternative?

This is useful for some people, but you could just rotate your pencil. The Kuru Toga basic model M5-450 is good enough.

Does any 0.5 mm lead work with the uni kuru toga?
Yes

kuru_01 exactly me too 😂
For the lead sleeve problem, is there any way to fix it if it were to ever do that?
I have had a lot of really nice mechanical pencils over the years, but NOTHING can compete with this pencil. I have had pencils with retractable sleeves too, but i like this one better.
Amzing job on editing and spectacular job on the review (Shows that for the little things you try your best ,imagine for higher-end materials ) proud
Hello Jasmin, and thank you very much your comment and support, I really appreciate! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great video, very thorough. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Does its grip paint come off?
Got mine today early Christmas present 😊
Detailled and cleared review! Great review

Can you retract the needle tip of the kuru toga standard in the barrel to prevent damage?
It's fixed.
The red and blue you are talking about are limited editions. They also have it in a limited edition gold and pink.

So regular 0.5 lead isn’t compatible with this pencil?
JareBear XD it is compatible, Kurutoga just made a special type of 0.5 mm lead that’s better for the core of Kurutoga pencils.
Fantastic review. Thank you for doing this.
Melpomenex Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it!
Can I swap a standard 0.3mm interior and add this grip/exteriors? (asking because there is no 0.3mm of this model...
took the spring out. that was a mistake. White case doesn't go back in, sticks out
youmust be continue to this pencil examinations my guy
4:12 uhhh i dont think my kurutoga can open like that
Jayden H piano - Hi there, if you have the exact same model, it should open the exact same way, but there are various Kuru Toga models.
@@universalbalance8393 idk mine looks EXACTLY like yours, gunmetal 0.5
but i cantseem to untwist that part

My Roulette doesn't come apart either. Wondering if the production facility changed the design at the join.

comicconfreak Ike, I had to buy this standard model just to have it work with 0.7mm
Excellent review!
Thank you very much!!!
How to refill
Thanks to your review I'm going to buy one for myself right now.
Thanks for your comment. Glad I was able to help you in making your purchase decision!
Dear Kari, please go to Jetpens.com.
May I know how to change the lead on this pencil? Thanks.
By removing the push button at the end of the pencil and them removing the eraser from there, you can put new leads into the small hole at the top.
Wow, thank you very much for such a great detailed and informative review!
Hello Phoenix53033, thank you very much for your comment! Really glad you enjoyed the video.
Kuru Toga Roulette or Pentel Grapghgear 1000?
Hi, i've the same pencil but in silver and i'm not be able to disassembly it :( what's wrong? silver are different?
Try gently pulling on it since it's not really a twist to remove thing, it's just a bit of glue holding it in
Jonathan V thanks for reply. I try very not gently to open this pencil, but nothing. Can’t open to refill.
@@giubin You just need to remove the cap at the end and remove the eraser
Jonathan V I did. I’ll try again.
@@giubin Are you not able to refill it? What's going on?
I feel like if I bought this online, my dad would slap me so hard that I would end up on mars.

Finally a review done well! Am I thinking of another pencil or isn't part of the tip supposed to have leaning room so the lead never breaks? Cool.

Why can't I open mine I can only open at the bottom 😭
Please tell that any lead will be good or not...
suyash swarnkar no you need 5 mm
Any 5mm?
suyash swarnkar yes
suyash swarnkar 8:06
It works with any lead as long as it is 0.5, but if you want 0.7 you can get the classic. But that's plastic though it is cheaper
Cool! I'm getting mine in baby pink with some pink lead (0.5)

Main complain is the eraser is pretty small
Please change the music up. I fell asleep about 4 times while watching this
Koen K - it's true that the music was a bit repetitive, I'll keep that in mind for future videos. Thanks for your feedback!
