Miniature-style game with no assembly or painting - win win!
Of course this and FPG’s new OST are at the same time (roughly) - gonna be hard waiting till next year, but I’m backing both!
    Cheers!

0:44 "Onus" in Latin is actually a noun that means "freight" or "cargo", and by extension "burden" or "load", whether literal or figurative. The most common meaning of "onus" in English is related to one of the figurative meanings, burden of proof ("the onus is on you to explain...").

Great job, they have an expansion on KS right now if anyone is interested or if they want to get an all in with this game.

Grant, you had me enthralled throughout. A SUPER interesting package! Did you get the playmat?
The cartoonish art is a bit of a turn-off for me, but it’s the European style.
Please, please, please do a playthrough on this either solo or with Alexander. This game looks like it needs more exposure!

I haven't played/reviewed this game yet but, for some reason, it seems to be flying under the radar for a while now

I think it is a cool idea, but in some sense I am not surprised. I couldn't help feel it missed the mark a bit.

@@ArnoVdVelde You mean the game itself (quality) or the promotion/marketing of the game? Both?

    • @ArnoVdVelde

@@boardnwargames Bit of both. It clearly slipped under the radar of a lot of content creators. Some people I have talked that played it have liked it, but a few also weren't crazy on it. It isn't a complicated game, but the rulebook leaves a bit to be desired in spaces (you'll be able to figure it out though) and the real lack of good player aids, some preconstructed suggestion.
I played on one of the mats you could get in the kickstarter, which kind of ruins the game cause it is way too small if you want more than 5 units per side on there. And combat is so quick that feels weird sometimes.
It's a cool package with a lot of content, and I am not sure I can judge it completely so far, cause you kind of need to find your footing with building lists and what is the right size of play area. Just had the sense it could have been developed just a tad more, but maybe more experience with the system smooths that out.
In some sense. because of how the card activation works, the core engine feels very much like commands and colors, but I didn't end up getting enough out of the extra detail it tries to get in. (Also the thinking that because of that system, you kind of want to lean towards making elite armies to benefit from your activations more)
I haven't played it enough to be able to know for sure. It's still a very affordable package with a ton of content that will allow you to tinker. There is certainly value in there. It might be a better sandbox to tinker with than a game, but that depends what you are expecting for in a game. (It is not like command and colors is the tightest thing, this very much falls into something beer and pretzlers, just with a bit more upkeep)
Edit: And it is a great way to cheaply dip into something with a miniature feel.

I think the idea and mechanics actually work quite well. For me the let down is really the art style and choices they made. Very cartoony and there arnt many men on the cards representing many columns.
If they had gone the route of Strength and Honor with art depicting 2mm-6mm army formation it would have made more sense and looked a lot better
