my problem is i can never find beautiful vintage pieces like these. The ones i find are always falling to bits or on the more frumpy side

I have a piece that is modern and mass market: a shift Emerald green drop waist button down shirt dress that comes with a tie. I just feel lucky that casual looks from back then are easy to replicate. For example tent dresses and other simple straight cut shift dresses. Add some accessories, opaque hosiery, white shoes or Mary Janes.
Another alternative is to sew. The construction of many of these dresses appear rather simple

There´s a big difference between beginning 60s, mid-60s, and end of sixties! 3 different styles!

+ann parks I thought so too.........I worked and lived in Chelsea for a few years from 1962 and never saw anything like this around and believe me I was interested in all things fashion at the time.

No. It looks very 60's.And I am nearly sure its not leather but plastic of some kind. Plastic clothing was big in the mod 60's.

The white leather dress is post-JFK, as is much of the bright, streamline, geometric, colorful designs people associate with the 60's. After JFK's assassination in late 1963, there was an explosion - a total upheaval - in society, and by 1964, miniskirts were everywhere, with bright colors and short skirts. The white leather dress couldn't be any earlier than mid 1964.

To Meme or Not To Meme The design of the brass buttons really tickled me because they remind me of my school girl days... The copper prongs of "duotang" folders. Is this deliberate? I understand there is a subset of "innocent" fashion with round Peter Pan collars and high necklines but short hemlines
