I’ve been following Cristina on Instagram and she’s such an inspiration to me as both a new CrossFit coach and human. So stoked to see her story told through this video!
Coaching is about inspiring athletes to do more then they thought they could do, mastering their bodies and their minds. Christina's body-type or inability to do some of the movements is completely unrelated to her quality of coaching. She has eyeballs and a brain which is all you need to judge movement quality and adjust for each person. She also has the knowledge of what it's like to work a larger body and makes CrossFit seem more accessible beyond your stereotypical athlete, which I'm pretty sure if the bedrock of CrossFit! She also has an inside track to the self-limiting, self-defeating self-talk that many people struggle with.. Level 4 is a huge achievement and her athletes are quite obviously very lucky to have her. This is great on so many levels. Great profile, CrossFit. Way to go Christina.

Teaching and practicing are different things for sure. I know a lot of professionals who are successful at what they are doing, at the same time they possess neither willing nor ability to share their experience. And it's fine, it's just two different things
Boy, how far we've come since my first workout in 2007, first set of certs in 2009 and now this? Wow. It's one thing to be confident in your skin and being an effective coach another altogether to not reflect or be capable of doing what you are teaching. Much less so in an organization that was built on the foundation of health. I remember when being a Level 2 was so tough (physically and mentally) many failed...how can one communicate fitness if they do not evoke it themselves? Odd how things have shifted. The wrong things are celebrated.
I find it interesting that you just assume that I ‘do not reflect nor am capable of’ what I am teaching. I understand that you believe that what my body looks like is not the picture of fitness, but you don’t know a thing about me or my fitness beyond an 11:00 video clip that doesn’t even scratch the surface. Nope, I’m not finished with my physical transformation, but there is nothing that says I cannot coach others coming along the journey with me. Not once in this clip did I claim to be the picture of fitness. But I’m on the journey. And I’m a damn good coach BECAUSE of it. I’m sorry that’s so offensive to you, but that says more about you than me.
How do you know what she does daily? Do you follow her around? Have you seen her macros? Are you yourself perfect in every way and practice what you preach?
@@lisakirkmanconsulting I can see that you're not the brightest bulb in the shed, but listen to me - it's ok to be a dumdum you can at least try to defend someone. Here though - no need to hurt your brain. All you have to do is use your eyes. If you don't see an obese person going on morbidity - just delete yourself.
Maybe you should watch the video before you judge? How many lives are you changing on the daily? Are you putting yourself out there because the work you do is saving lives? Yeah nah didn't think so. @@lisakirkmanconsulting there's difference nuances to different coaching roles. For CrossFit specifically, I don't think a coach can effectively teach and coach an athlete through a skill they can't do themselves. Why should I take advice from somebody that ALSO can't do the thing I'm trying to do?
The seminar staff - people who have devoted their LIVES to this thing - disagree with you. They set the standards for the L4, and they witnessed Cristina meet those standards. She’s an L4, full stop.
@@dparizo They could devote 3 more lives to it I don't care lol. Coaches should be able to perform EVERY movement to standard. Regardless of your certifications. I personally don't want to be coached by somebody I am fitter than. Personal preference. I'm sure she's a wonderful person, but I wouldn't want a less fit athlete as my coach.
I don't think a coach needs to be fitter than the students, but at least in range for that level of fitness plus coaching ability. Say students' level is very fit, then coach needs to be at least fit. Otherwise it's inflating too much, if you don't know how to do these movements, you don't know how they feel in your body, therefore it will effect your teaching and there will be a disconnect between coach and students.
I took my level one with Cristina and learned so much from her. She is the sweetest person and beyond talented as a coach!

Practice what you preach. Which is not the case here.

Why? Coaching is about teaching not doing. How many times has Tiger Wood's coach beaten him? or Usain Bolt's coach beaten him over 100m?
