Heel lift is rarely solved by a liner cook in my opinion, an Achilles or ankle lock padding is generally needed on the exterior of the liner.

Putting on an actual ski sock is important, especially one that will be used for touring. 😊

I’m becoming quite aware of how the ‘normal’ way we design footwear squishes our toes, leading to many consequences, the least of which is misshaped feet . and every time I put on my ski boots, I know it’s not good . I wonder: is there hope on the horizon that alpine touring boots might start to come out with generous toe boxes? . I mean, it’s a matter of awareness, right? . so I’m curious how much of an outlier I am in my desire for boots that don’t contribute to mangling our feet, or whether this is become more of a common concern

Hi! bootfitter here. Unfortunately in a ski boot, if your heel/ankle pocket is not secure, your toes will never be comfortable. More generous toe boxes sound great, but each brand has to make a boot for a wide range of customer foot shapes so for most brands, a wider toe box means a wider heel. (the new dalbello cabrio is an exception to this; lange lx are others that come to mind with somewhat pizza shape (wider toe box with smaller heel). BUT!!! any good bootfitter can make the toe box so big it would blow your mind. Anyone who skis 30, 40 plus days needs to be in a boot that fits their heel. WE CAN ALWAYS MAKE A BOOT WIDER. It sounds like your boots are likely not fitting your heel well and therefor the toebox feels small. without seeing your foot, go see a bootfitter and probably either size down in volume or length. :)
