That was my favorite Kmart. I was there when it opened and when it closed. We used to drive from Youngstown to shop there at times even though Warren was a whole lot closer.
I used to visit this Kmart often. I worked up the street at the roller skating rink in the mid 2000s. After dinner at Applebees, I'd visit and walk around the nearly (people) empty store. Back then, the world was my oyster. It was when the store was still open 24 hours, and the Walmart across the street hadn't evolved into its final form yet. XD It's a shame no one could repurpose the building as it was, given its history. Thanks for an awesome video Wallie!
Great video footage of a very rare Super Kmart store that's been closed for about a decade now. We once had a general Big Kmart store here in downtown Cadillac, Michigan but has been permanently closed since the early 2000's as it's now a Toyota dealership and has been that since. So far I've been watching mostly all of your other videos on many abandoned places of Kmarts and other former businesses over the years. We even have abandoned businesses that's been sitting vacant for some years that you guys may like to check out, including a Big Lots store.

I live in Medina and used to go there to shop, it is a shame it closed but they were not competitive as a corporation. There are several other abandoned businesses in a town that is pretty affluent.
I remember this Kmart. It was so nice when it was brand new and open. I used to work nearby. I remember when there was a huge oversize American flag flying on the flagpole there. Thanks for the video and drone flying!

Some of stores that are gone from there are Payless, Sears Optical, Dress Barn and an awesome bike shop to name a few. I'm sure the GNC will be gone soon.
I was howling about the seagulls! Even when I was a little kid (1980s), there were always a herd of seagulls in the parking lot at Wayne Hills Mall near the K-Mart in New Jersey. 🤣🤣🤣
About the seagulls, I’m sure they have a thing for Super Kmarts lol. I always saw seagulls while visiting the Brooklyn, Lorain, and Mentor, OH locations when they were still open!
So true Wallie, our K-Mart in Chambersburg PA would always have seagulls in the parking lot. I think they used it as a break on their way to ocean city MD.
I miss that store. And the ones in Waynesboro PA and Hagerstown MD where I live. The Hagerstown closing was a surprise since it was doing pretty well. Now we have two damned Walmarts and I won't go near them.

They are now going to be demolishing it but the abatement process will for sure be a long one with that condition not to mention possible asbestos. They will be going through it with a fine tooth comb.

Though Wal-Mart's first super center (by name) was in Washington Missouri in 1988. Though both did use another hypermarket type stores before with Hypermart USA (Wal-Mart) and American Fare (Kmart & Bruno's joint venture) before creating their respective super centers.
2 years later, the building and its owners are being confronted for abandonment purposes, and the building is deemed “not safe to breathe in” because of mold overgrowth. How sad of what has become of the store.

During the month of July, there were building maintenance personnel in the old Weirton wv KMart working inside. I saw trucks out front and back of the store. I haven't seen anymore work going there since. So, who knows what will happen with the old KMart here in Weirton,WV. I've heard rumors about a Big Lots opening up in the old KMart. Yes, Wal Mart help closed this store but that's not the only reason. The merger between Sears and Kmarts was a big reason. That's why almost all the stores in that chain are now closed. F.Y.I the very first Wal Mart supercenter was build in 1988 in Washington, Missouri. Three years before this store.

Yes, Sam Walton was the one who found Medina Walmart. Once Walmart was built right across the street from that Kmart and once it became a supercenter, I knew that Kmart was going out of business. Walmart totally ruined them
This place was the go-to spot after it opened. I met Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth at the grand opening. Now, sadly, the building will be torn down and replaced with a brand new Meijer.
Not too far from my neck of the woods! I've been to this store as a little kid to a teenager and I seen this place die slowly towards the end half of this store was closed off by what looked to be cloth shower curtains the Walmart didn't really affect this store in the beginning once it expanded to be a super Walmart then it hurt this super Kmart I can go on and on about this place and the Walmart but the main reason why my parents took us shopping in Medina was the McDonald's had a big play place which hardly any locations near we lived had one
There was a Super Kmart were i live at, Yuma Az, there is nothing left in it that I know of. But there is still a Super Kmart sign by the parking lot. Its a small sign.
I have actually got some info from Google Maps and if you put your street view right at the sign and go to 2009, you will see a picture from when Super Kmart was open.

The drone video is awesome especially with blue sky and clouds in the background. I think I was in this one back in the 90s or it may have been the 2nd Super K in Montrose. Omg those lazy seagulls showed up again they haven't found a job yet lol. I'm shocked Meijer hasn't made an offer to buy the building and that part of property.
In albertville Alabama there is in abandoned shoneys that closed last year want to know what happened. And in gasden Alabama there is an abandoned place there's a bunch

We used to take smoke breaks back in that area by the garden center there were picnic tables under the overhang.

Big K Mart used to be down the street where Giant Eagle is now. People were so excited when the super K Mart opened.

Such a beautiful store! I had one or two super centers near me that didn't have the building-wide overhang, but none had those entry ways!

It is a DJI Mavic Mini. Just under the weight limit so it doesn't need to be registered. I absolutely love that thing.
