I don't think I can properly put this in words but watching them do this great number is like watching magic. I felt this way about Martin & Lewis as well as The Beatles. It's like taking performing to the max. It doesn't get any better.
For the 10 years they were together - they were amazing. I saw them at the Paramount - people would not want to leave which is why they started throwing photos out of their window! Jerry was the control freak. Dean was the laid back crooner with a fantastic sense of comic timing. I believe Jerry truly loved Dean. You can see it in the way he looks at him. I think Dean loved him as well - as a good friend. Their breakup according to Jerry was his doing. I don't know if I believe that. I miss this team - there will never be another one.
Agree with what you said Jerry wanted to know everything. He did say if shoes was on the other foot he couldn't of taken it. I just glad they was friends before Dean passed. Now Jerry is gone. He did on August 20, 2017 at age 91.
That’s all so well said.... I wonder since jerry worked so hard, why Dean didn’t just relax as he wanted, play golf as he wanted, appreciate all the comedic talent and investment by Jerry. But I read that Dean did not like Jerry’s Chaplin Sh-. It would Have been better if Dean had not put Down Jerry studying Chaplin. He could have encouraged him and appreciated and berm grateful for his Talent. Jerry was never going to give up his study of Chaplin. However, the press was a lot at fault. And he wanted to sing and not not work hard. They both ended up having different career aspirations. They both had polar opposite with work ethics. That’s difficult to manage. Because both Dean and Jerry and Dean's daughter (Deana Martin) have always said that EXTERNAL FORCES tore them apart! Their story is way more complicated than what the usual anti-Semitic idiots who hate Jerry because they believe crap gossip about him are writing everywhere. Those two made peace 14 months after the breakup. And they talked to each other, they called each other often, and in 1966/1967 they were literally talking about going back to work together. And they were back in touch months before the 1976 Telethon. SOMETHING VERY BIG TOLD THEM APART AND KEEPING THEM APART!
@@susantunbridge4612 Deana Martin considered Jerry her second father! She said he was ALWAYS there for her like a real father and even now calls Jerry "Uncle Jerry"!. They even sang together. But stop writing bullshit. If Jerry had been that bad, would Dean's daughter have loved him that much? Ah for your other information FRANK SINATRA had a controlling personality, arrogant, a perfectionist and intolerant of those who disagreed with him. And he liked having dangerous friends. Basically Sinatra had a worse personality than Jerry but Dean worked with Sinatra for years! So how do we put it? Jerry was totally submissive to Dean. Those who are intelligent understand it only by looking at them!
Exactly. Just watch them together. Jerry Loved Dean so much and I think Dean loved Jerry. He just couldn't say it. Jerry could convey his feelings better than Dean. People are blind if they can't see the adoration and love between them whether they were gay or not.
@@kellycaviness4850 Jerry was Jewish. And most of Dean's fans are toxic fans: homophobic, anti-Semitic, racist (I'll never understand why he has so many. The sad clown, the incompetent child, the idiot. And Martin's toxic fans don't understand that that was just the mask, the character. On the other hand, Dean's public character was successful, although smoking, drinking, gambling, having promiscuous sex, having mafia friendships can be considered cool. Dean and Me, by Jerry Lewis is a great book to read They were brothers. Twenty years of silence was a myth. They were seen many times together pics on utube Eddie Fisher show with Jerry, then a surprise ,Dean comes out on stage Jerry stated on Larry King show, Dean and himself had times together after the breakup. What a team they were and little did they know at that time how successful they would become.
Words cannot express how wonderful the were together. They went on stage and had fun and so did we. It was like the audience wasn’t even there! They were so close, they knew each other’s next move. We’re never gonna see the likes of them again!
He had a bad heart. You can see him struggling to breathe a bit, but he pushed himself no matter what. Eight shows day and night in the clubs too. Amazing stamina!
Dean Martin was one of the three best straight-men in the industry. Not just with Jerry Lewis. On the Dean Martin Show he was straight man to any number of BRILLIANT comics. A straight-man makes a good joke a great joke...
Dean and Jerry sang this song in their feature film, “Living It Up” but because they did not mention it here, I guess they previously used it in their club act.

Never get tired of watching them. They can change my mood immediately. So talented and handsome. I think the 20 years of silence was a bit of a myth.
If they could only see NYC now! Dangerous!
Lewis is actually winded at the end and he was a guy who had endurance!
He had a bad heart. You can see him struggling to breathe a bit, but he pushed himself no matter what. Eight shows day and night in the clubs too. Amazing stamina!
bunnyhop3211 he did have a bad heart :( he was an amazing guy
Dean Martin was one of the three best straight-men in the industry. Not just with Jerry Lewis. On the Dean Martin Show he was straight man to any number of BRILLIANT comics. A straight-man makes a good joke a great joke...
These guys were so perfect. Kent Vogel A.S.C.A.P WBD
Dean and Jerry sang this song in their feature film, “Living It Up” but because they did not mention it here, I guess they previously used it in their club act.
This is my favoite
Another example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.
How these two turned into oil and water is beyond me.
❤❤❤❤❤
That was entertainment, not like the rubbish you get now

Magnifico?!!!
Funny how Jerry was not actually a dancer and just faked it. The embodiment of "fake it til you make it"
A natural! Same with Dean.
@@Donazify Dean's toe touch always amazes me, especially since I grew up dancing in a studio and could never do one myself
He’s a tap dancer right?
I was born too late.😢
Jerry Lewis ist überhaupt nicht lustig 😕
