Steve Lukather is just one of a kind, there's no one else like him. And so we're Jeff and Mike Porcaro, may they rest in peace. All the best for you, Steve, your music gives us so much joy and pleasure. Stay on, we love you
If I could sit down with any living guitarist today it would be Steve Lukather. I appreciate the time he has surrendered to his approach to the guitar. I have learned more from this than anyone else that has touched the guitar. Thx Steve!!
So good he practically played the entire thing with his eyes closed. I met Steve about a dozen years ago at a celebrity golf tournament and we spoke for a few minutes and he treated me like I was a lifelong friend. His work will live on forever.
Steve Lukather is my favorite player for countless reasons. first of all, he is insanely accurate. the timings and the length of every single note. his bendings. squeezes. his guitar sounds. he is incredibly versatile in all regards. he is insanely experienced as a guitar player with different sounds. he has badass guitar sounds. my favorite is still the studio version of his lead guitar in Jake to the bone. heavenly sound. I really love him as a guitar player.
He speaks so highly of Jeff. You feel the genuine love. The entire Porcaro family, from what I've seen, read and heard were/are a class act. Lukather also seems like a hell of a nice guy. Great and humble at the same time.
I'm so blessed in hindsight to have grown up listening to master musicians like Steve. What a privilege to have the likes of Micheal Schenker, EVH, Brian May, Satriani, Vai, Frank Marino, Blackmoore, etc, etc, as the background music of my youth. 💯❤️🎧
I had the honor of meeting Steve and spending time in his company in his studio. Truly one of the highlights of my life. Loveliest person you can imagine, so down to earth, fun, generous and kind. Brilliant in everything he does.
His " guitar 🎸 gently weeps" and so do the rest of us when we remember the profound loss of Jeff Porcaro! GenX, 1965...a Toto fan from the beginning 1977! Thankful these guys stayed on the yellow brick road! RIP #jeffporcaro #mikeporcaro #joeporcaro #milesporcaro Toto has the best musicians on planet 🌏 45+ years and counting.Carry on David Paich, Steve Lukather,Joe Williams, Bobby Kimball, David Hungate, Steve Porcaro...and all the great players who have filled in.See you on the other side Porcaros! Congrats to Jeff on your granddaughter Nora Porcaro!
50k views and only 68 comments? This was epic. Keyboards were EPIC!! Stunning! The composition was insane. How is this so minimally viewed!!??? F'in AWESOME!!!!!! I hope I have friends like Steve L when my day comes... what a humble down to earth dude who by the way.. can shoot lightning bolts out of his guitarone. Dude... he's really the dude. Guarantee Jeff Bridges (Dude reference) would agree. We're lucky to have known him... Jeff Porcaro was literally one of a kind. Nobody ever can do what he did. RIP Brother. My my, hey hey......
lol,..that keyboarplayer is now being prosecuted for sexual crimes with minors, as he was the musical director for the voice holland , forcing underage contestants into sex
Great interview, thanks! Steve is so emotive on guitar and is still a favorite of my guitar heroes! Having lost so many to date. Especially just losing Jeff Beck.
Steve where ever you are, please never stop playing .we all need to hear a inspiring note to keep us going, for us, for you. For toto we all love that signature sound brother keep em coming. Btw, happy new year! may you all have many, many more. God bless!
WOW !! I INSTANTLY CRIED. YOU CAN FEEL STEVE'S LOVE AND COMPASSION FOR HIS BEST FRIEND. I HAVE A COPY OF THE LAST TIME JEFF WAS IN MODERN DRUMMER MAGAZINE.
Incredible playing through those chord changes - even anticipating the next chord by a few beats at times, like a jazzbo, but with pure rock goodness. The master!
I am a guitarist also, certainly not accomplished like Steve, but we have mutual friends but have never had the honor of meeting him. Certainly would like to someday. Had the honor of playing with Billy Preston for a few months and learned things one would never learn unless you run and feed off of other accomplished musicians.
ALWAYS so brilliant and emotional...yet makes it look oh so easy...which it is NOT...what a master axe-slinger !!! For the love of all that's holy - get this guy into the Rock Hall of Fame before it loses all credibility !!!!
Great dude from all the interviews I've seen. Jeff Porcaro... well... ask a drummer to play some of his stuff and they'll give you the side-eye for a reason.. his talent was such that he could play 'impossible' stuff and make it look easy. Accomplished drummers have a difficult time copying him.
I think I may have been listening to this guy all my life, even without knowing it was him !!! Hell, at a time he was playing with everybody : Christopher Cross, Clapton, Mikael Jackson and the list is endless. I like all of his albums but Cadyman is very special to me, especially this song and Never Walk Alone. This guy is such an amazing guitar player and singer. There is however ONE single thing I don't like : it's the size of his guitar neck. I have tried to play on this ridiculously narrow neck profile but my hands are too big and I lack of space between the strings. It's a pity because the sound of the guitar is fantastic !
Wow! One of the greatest guitarists living today.
Steve Lukather is just one of a kind, there's no one else like him. And so we're Jeff and Mike Porcaro, may they rest in peace. All the best for you, Steve, your music gives us so much joy and pleasure. Stay on, we love you
Soooo....if they are all one of a kind....how can all 3 be that way...and be in the same band?
@@medievaltimes6473 I think everyone is one of a kind. And Jeff,Mike and Steve to both as persons and on their instruments.
If I could sit down with any living guitarist today it would be Steve Lukather. I appreciate the time he has surrendered to his approach to the guitar. I have learned more from this than anyone else that has touched the guitar.
Thx Steve!!
Cherish him. Not too many left. Glad hes sober and looks great

Great tribute from a legend to a legend!

Lukather has a heart of gold ... and you hear it in his touch and mastery ...

He's just another level, what an artist
So heart felt. Steve is one of the "Masters". Beautiful tribute!
The subtlety of his playing here is just incredible. Wow. He and Jeff Beck both have that feel.
Real close to Beck here..beautiful
That was incredible. Luke is phenomenal.
Great guitarist... and a great person with a heart of gold..... Very rare.....

Have always loved this tune, splendid rendition.
I love hearing Steve's love for his friend.
Beautiful isn't it.
Damn. That guitar.
Wow! Steve always with a amazing work... great.
Emotional. Steve’s one of the best there is
Luke is a gifted musician who never seems to grow old....he always played his ass off with no regrets. I read his book and it's great.
Stellar as usual. I said “hi” to Steve L. at the House of blues when Steve Morris was playing in 1996!

Astonishingly good guitar performance and so heartfelt. Bravo Steve, love ya work!
Great interview, thanks! Steve is so emotive on guitar and is still a favorite of my guitar heroes! Having lost so many to date. Especially just losing Jeff Beck.
Incredible. The guitar really sings in Luke's hands. Only he and Beck can do it at this level.
This one does sound a lot like Jeff Beck IMO.
Gambale and would be Holdsworth.
He´s my biggest inspiration, what a virtuos. Love u Luke
He´s playing so wonderful;RE SPECT!
After decades, his playing is still fresh. Also has a great sense of humor, like at the end where he was pointing out the beating his fingers took! 😀
Great lesson in string muting technique. Every note is crystal clean.
What a beautiful song. A great remembrance.
Beautiful
Special man
So much talent
Top guitarist ever
Luke is such a gem, man. Not to mention God tier musician. Dude is unbelievable.

You can hear the influences of Steve's guitar hero, Jeff Beck, in his style of playing here 🎵
World class playing…wish I could meet him and buy him a beer. Such a legend

Superb consumate musician . Has chops with feel !

He makes it look so. damn. easy.
Steve lukather o melhor Guitarrista do mundo homenagem ao melhor Baterista de studio do mundo !!! Thiago from Brazil !!!
What a great version
Saw him with Ringo's Allstar Band - he is phenomenal!!!
When did Luke turn into Jeff Beck? Unreal.. the guy can play anything anyway and always perfect. Great tone too.
Emotional luke solo!!❤
Best in the world. Very few guitarist can make a guitar cry, and Steve is one of them. Gary Moore also comes to mind
Great job Lukey, he( they) are right there with you smiling.

The best STEVE 👏👏👏✌️👍👍👍
Goosebumps song
Good job 👍👍🙏
Sounds a lot like Don't Stop Me Now off Fahrenheit one of my favorite instrumentals from Toto. I was 9th row at the Tribute concert. RIP Jeff
Just genius !!!
Great version. Something to pull off with those levels of gain and just a keyboard (even if not just any old keyboard).
LUKE N.1 OF ALWAYS GUITAR!!!!!😁
Visti live yeff e lukater con i toto musicisti appertenenti ad un altra galassia non del pianeta terra fantastic
You can clearly hear from how he handles his notes the song was tributed to the late great Jeff Beck.
Rest easy, Jeff.
The technique 👍👍
Jeroen Rietbergen's highlight probably
Hey actual played in mr Lukathers band too during the Eddy Christiani award ceremony gig back in 2010 @Vlissingen (Netherlands).
Ik denk dat dit immers wel veranderd is 😂

That didn't need many words for sure..
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
LUKE
Incredible. Looks like he’s using the green channel of the JCM2000 amp. Wonder what distortion pedal he is using for the gain?
