Same goes for match 2, t2 mass gargs is not seen often at all on pro levels. I think both adjusted very well to the situation and to be fair human also allows for more strategies
If Sok hadn’t blizzarded his own troops three times (maybe keep the water elements, and bring back in the copters to kill the destros in a final all in) and had disengaged that last fight after he killed the expo, then took it again at full force, maybe he beats the ud hero cheese
Of course I'm glad to be watching you cast this one. One example being the insight into why the heck he was going so fast into 0-2 upgrades for gargs. Is why I've always chosen to hang. 😎
human has always had a hard time dealing with destroyers. Even if they focus destroyers they can just instantly transform to magic immune flying unit with full HP. Only way to beat Destroyers has always been to throw crap ton of units at it with your econ advantage.
Ring of Regeneration was generally sold because of opportunity cost. That item equals an additional unit early game. Also, there's only 6 item slots and over time, the item slot is just better used for healing scroll and so forth. So it's not that the item is bad per se but instead the opportunity cost for races that depend on timing pushes/fending.
It's just bad logic though. 2hp/sec is crazy. It makes a massive difference in how survival heroes are. In almost all early game fights having constant +2hp/sec regen far eclipses the value of an extra footman or equivalent unit.
@@rsk-1337 Yeah, but that works towards keeping the hero alive, not necessarily winning the skirmishes or the game, that's the point. Heroes aren't ever the weak link anyway, so having one more unit that's able to push into the enemy's army makes a difference in who's in the offense/defense. Example: 1 hero+3 units has the upper hand against 1 hero+2 units even if the hero has more survivability.
sok managed to pull off another good fight with happy. Sok really had the chance to win. If he had chosen to defend his 2nd expo with flying machines rather than sending them off, happy would have a hard time taking down the base. And he chose storm rather than water element, which was another mistake.
Mostly agreed except Blizzard was the right choice. But Sok needed to fight with his flying machines for sure. With the destroyers taken out Sok could have taken on Happy's army from a well-fortified position.
@@rsk-1337 sure, different perspective. I like lvl3 water element better bcs destroyers won't be much of a problem if the flight machines are at the battle. And it's difficult for UD units to counter it.
I think the reason he didn't want his gyros at the fights anymore was because Dreadlord Carrion Swarm was decimating them and just feeding free XP to UD heroes. Not to mention Fiends with Web. So he thought it would be better to hit and run Happy's expos with them while his land army kept Happy's army occupied elsewhere. He did want Blizzard, where he messed up was taking Water Elemental instead of Brilliance Aura. Without Aura his MK/Pally's effectiveness dropped way too much, less Holy Lights, less Storm Bolts, less TClaps. That and he didn't cancel his Blizzards when Happy moved his units out of it and instead ended up Blizzarding his own Knights more as they chased through.
On a side note, borscht is not ukrainian. Besides, this country didn't even exist for a good thousand years of the dish's heritage.
Amazing play, like in the first game Sok was very close to totally denying mining but this time the stronger army won. MK wasn't strong enough to keep up with so many spells, interesting that Web didn't really come into play since Sok kept his Flying Machines out of range due to the threat of Carrion Swarm. I think he actually outplayed Happy for a while but UD was just too powerful in the end.
Can you explain more or give me some material about temp>pressure>scaling idea? I never taught about these and I feel like they are applicable to more than video games, but I don't exactly understand what scaling and tempo mean
Scaling means that you will scale well into the late game. It's like putting $500,000 in a retirement fund but it's stuck for 30 years. Good scaling! But bad tempo (can't spend it now) In games, scaling means things that get really strong at late game, either automatically or if well nurtured. For instance, high level blade becomes tanky and does really good damage, so he scales well; but at level 1, he's not very strong. Farseer's TEMPO is better than Blade, because he gets 2 summons (the wolves) and is a ranged hero (takes less damage). Tempo means somethin that's good now and offers you control over the game, as in - you make them run, not the other way around. A tempo play would be something like selling your Endurance Aura for 400 gold to buy a healscroll and protection scroll which gives you a much better fight now, than 7% attackspeed would give. Scaling would be to keep it until late game. Tempo doesn't mean attacking per se; pressure does. Pressure is like harrassing/attacking them which works best when they are being greedy (like trying to scale by making 2 expos simultaneously)
I don't understand what you meant when you said spellbreakers counter possession. If there are knights on the field, how does a spelkbreaker stop a banshee from possessing the knight?
I wonder if Happy did a chess-move here. Last game he used Gargs, but SOK didn't counter with Flyers. This game Happy (perhaps) thought - I'll signal early that I'm going Gargoyle's so he will react by going flyers. Then I'll have the counter to his Gargoyle's pre-meditated (Carrion Swarm), and on a chess-board, it looks like I end up a piece up, which on paper looks like a nice game for me.

Too many things on their mind. Often to make sure no time is wasted they have their troops attack+move somewhere while creeping so that they are constantly moving around while they handle eco stuff. It is of course worth it to spend 1 second to pick up a tome, but it can be easy to forget.
Dota2 has a lower skill ceiling. People actually end up hitting that ceilling in pro play. It's why patches come and go so often in dota2. This rapid change keeps the game fresh and in a constant state of flux & discovery. But the thing with wc3 and other RTSes like Brood War is that the staleness of the game makes it feel impossible for new people to break into the higher tiers of the game. So a high skill cieling may be great in some ways, it also sucks in others. Sure, I love watching wc3 and BW but I prolly will never play it or even try to get into it competitively. It's just not fun to have to catch up to so much legacy skill whereas dota2 has a low enough skill ceiling and a high enough skill floor that I can totally go back in after a few years and get back to ancient with horrible mechanics, just a good intuitive understanding of strats and positive mental attitude. You can't do that in WC3 or BW, micro skills are a prerequisite rather than another facet of the game.
Defensive upgrades also indirectly helps offensively, because you will be able to spend less time recovering and therefore keep more uptime on creeping, harassing, etc.
