Congrats on your new podcast!! Great choice to kick it off with Paul as your first guest. Best of luck to you both, you guys are so awesome... follow you guys all the time. 🎉❤
I Love Aircraft ! My father was an Airforce Mechanic on the Douglas C-124 Globemaster In Japan, F86, F100, F-4 in Viet-Nam, and the C-130 In the states. I followed and worked at Dupage County Airport Working for Shell. Joined the Navy and trained on the A4 Skyhawk. Stationed at NAS JAX in Florida. Flew all over the Eastern Seaboard in the Lockhead P-3 Orion. Beautiful Airframe.. 13 countries and lots Fun. AMH/AMS was my rate. Wouldn't change it for anything
This is great. I love hearing everyone’s journey to the 121 world. I made 6 figures my first year as a regional FO with full pay and benefits during training. I have so much respect to guys who paved the way by fighting for new contracts for current new hire FOs.
nice chat gents, I’m a former Army helicopter pilot now starting career 2.0 at a regional airline. Love watching both channels and learning from your journey. Thanks.
Been waiting for this to drop ever since he teased it weeks ago. SUPER PUMPED, happy for ya Ern, enjoyed the content and it's a great addition to your journey. I think I speak for everyone when I say, great work and can't wait for more!
Ernie, I am 60 years old have flown and own my own planes since High school! I wanted to fly for a living But life steered another direction! I just wanted to say that both You and Paul seem to be just a sample of the Great People in aviation. I have in 40 years met some A holes, But you two seem great and I wanted to say thanks for the time you two take to share a dream I had and now I can see it Thanks Big Ernie
..great fun..watching both of you..and just listening to both of you very hard-working.. successful..humorous..and very talented.. fly guys..and please.. keep em coming..Big Ern..
The show Airline is one of my favorites. I’ve tried to search for it but haven’t had any luck. But, it’s trip great to see two of my most favorite pilots on TH-cam coming together (again). Thank you both for inspiring people like me to keep the dream alive.
Captain Ern--I have been wondering what happened to you--it's been so long since I saw a new video by you. It's so nice that you got Captain Paul on--I love his channel and adventures!!!
Absolutely love this, brilliant content and who better than Paul the first podcast with. Follow both channels religiously. Can’t wait for the next one.
Good education pod cast, I watch a lot of av videos and the biggest point I find is newbies need to learn to network, and develop good communication skills, and learn as much as you can. The more I watch, I’ve realized that the Young’ins today have no excuses for not obtaining their goals, the amount o information is overwhelming. I’m 77 yrs young and I’ve thought about it lately and think wow how easy it would be to get the info needed to draw up a plan of attack.😊😊😊
Hi Ernie. I also follow both of you guys. After 51 years as an aircraft mechanic, I’ll be retiring from SWA this summer. What a ride it has been. I still love it, but time to move on. I’ll continue following your vlog to fill that void. Best of luck to you in the future. Take care.
Love this podcast and seeing Paul getting more exposure. My Dad was a pilot in the Navy when I was a kid and then he transitioned over to FedEx and flew for many years. We always had a bit of understanding of the day-to-day and what he got into on layovers, but with this podcast and the content both you and Paul put out it's been really awesome getting a more personalized view into what your personal experience is as pilots. Keep up the great work!
The watch the entire video. And it was good. Excellent, Outstanding. Good information on aviation and what to look forward in becoming a pilot or anything in Aviation. (In pursuit of PPL). This journey is good. It keeps me going especially what I do for a living at my day job. - Local Truck Driver. I'm tired of driving. Probably going to do this a few more years and hang it up. - 2024, 2025, and finally 2026. In the end I will have 10 years of local tractor trailer driving. Other goals that I have is to work for the U.S. Department of Transportation, #3 Become a CFI, #4 own my own business and #1 become a First Officer for the regional's airlines. Thank you again.
Great podcast big ern ! This will be fun. You should get yerself a nice 737-700 SW model for your desk though. Or some poster/picture in the background visually indicating the theme, for those who may not know. ❤
I really enjoyed this podcast. I'm a new subscriber - Paul's last video sent me here! I found it fascinating listening to how Paul's aviation career started and progressed. I've been watching quite a few of your videos (your 3 day captain assessment/checkride was particularly interesting) and look forward to more content. Greetings from the UK!
Thats so awesome that you two got together.. I've watched both you guys for info in preparation for OE, interviews, packing for trips, non-reving. Ern watching your 737 origination flows etc helped me while going through ground school.
Late to the party but what a treat to see two of my favorite flying TH-camrs together in one room. Excellent job on your first podcast, Big Ern. I'm looking forward to the next one!!!
What a great video to watch - great to see two excellent TH-cam legends and obviously good friends having a genuinely interesting chat ... Its always good to see on TH-cam what you guys get up to when you are on a layover in different places ..
Awesome first podcast, thanks for doing this! What a ‘two fer’ to have both of you on, I’ve been fans of both for quite a while. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, I really enjoyed this talk. On Paul's video with you I first saw the Green Hornet before you appeared and I knew immediately: It's Big Ern! Keep it up, best regards and wishes.
Thanks Ern for putting this up. You and Paul have been a huge inspiration for me. I came across one of Pauls videos about 1.5 years ago and decided to look into pilot training after that. As my interest in becoming a pilot grew, I stumbled onto your channel as well. As a second, possibly third career now, I'm take my commerical checkride tomorrow and have already interviewed and been accepted into an airline pilot program. I just wanted to thank you both for the inspiration you've been in my journey so far. Looking forward to the next episode. Thank you again!
Really enjoyed this podcast! I like to hear pilots interview pilots. It would be fun to hear an interview with an ATC guy! BTW, my son-in-law is a long-time Captain/Instructor and flew with Paul back in the day. 😊
Two legends in one video!!! This was amazing... sat here on my lunch hour and listened to the ENTIRE thing! You could not have had a better first guest, too. You and Paul are my favorite pilots to follow and I hope when I finally start my training that I can be like you both. Thank you for posting this and congrats on your podcast! Safe flight and blue skies!
Getting to where these 2 awesome guys are right now is very similar to the road one takes to become a doctor. I got my inst/comm/ME rating , but then with a family it was nearly impossible to live on the junior pilot's salary. Had to abandon that dream. No regrets though and now thanks to major advances in Virtual Reality headsets and personal flight simulators I have learned a lot from flying the maginifcent MD80 and the A320 family and have brought some of that dream back to reality.. great podcast Ernie and Paul - Happy contrails :)
Ern! I have just a handful of ppl hours on my logbook but your content has been so motivating. In a world where there are many influencers in aviation who provide very superficial information, you stand out as a mentor to many of us. Thank you sincerely!
I love your videos. I definitely want to get my license but it’s just so expensive. I also met another Southwest pilot at the post office that said he knew you. You guys are all so awesome
Great podcast #1. Keep up the great work. Any chance you could ever film the pilots meeting with the crew before hand, assuming everyone would be ok with being in the vlog?
Two of the most genuine, thoughtful and inspiring people both in aviation and life. Both channels continue to provide life lessons for everyone. Keep up the great content. And Happy Skies to you both.
Excellent episode. Congratulations on launching your podcast. You both have inspired me tremendously in my career change/flight training journey thus far (just wrapped up my initial training through MEI). I hope that I can provide that same high level of inspiration and value to other aspiring aviators.
Hello Big Erin. Long time viewer first time commenter. I’m a 48 yo private pilot in training based in Kvgt. Awesome podcast sir! Keep up the good work. As a podcaster, I can relate to the fright of watching/listening to early episodes. Friends of mine and I call the early episodes “the hostage tapes”.
Ernie, for a first podcast you have absolutely knocked it out the park, it has the sound and feel of episode number 200 when you’ve been doing it forever. Helps the guest is really natural and you two clearly have chemistry. The perfect host, giving him the space to speak but guiding it gently. Any chance of these ending up on Spotify etc to listen to in the car?
I've been looking forward to this! I bumped into you guys at KSDL when you were walking in to record, couldn't believe I was seeing you guys together!!
You’re awesome BigErn! I would like to thank you for influencing me to start a podcast of my own and I appreciate the quality content you send us all 👏🏻
