Susan, what was your inspiration for your writing workshop and all the materials you created? I am asking because it reminds me of the Lucy Caulkins writing workshop,, grade 1. I really like what you created!

I would like to join SJT to access the example writing journals - modelled writing within each type of genre

I would love to hear how much time you carve out for Writing Workshop on a given day. Obviously, it wouldn't remain the same all year. We also have to plan how to launch writing remotely?

Hi Jennifer! We carve out at least 30 minutes for writing workshop each day, but the majority of the time it was closer to 40 minutes! At the beginning of the year, the mini-lesson was usually longer or I would break up the mini-lesson into two parts and do both in one day if it's procedural. For example (lesson 1: this is how we set up our writing folders, then practice... lesson 2: this is where we store our writing materials, then practice)

Thank you for all your hard work that has gone into your channel. I am learning a lot. I teach Pre-K so naturally I have to take what you are teaching and apply it to my students level of learning. I am very interested in your writing workshop segment. Although it looks different in pre-k, do you have any resources to share that would help me to learn how to approach writing (journals) with pre-k students?
