Hurray for 5th grade! That's awesome that she's really mastered spelling solidly already. I feel like spelling just 'clicks' fairly quickly for some kids, and for other kids, it's more of a lifelong journey.

Yes I can not believe we are in 5th grade already ! I totally agree spelling just clicks with some kids. I think she is happy I finally figured out she got it too 🤣🤣🤣.

I just happened to come across your channel and can’t stop binging all your videos!!!! I’m wondering about Wordly Wise, is it an independent program? My oldest is the same age, she will also be 11 in December! But I also have 4 other kids ages 3-8 so I need some independent stuff for her next year. 😬😬 so many of the curriculum you used and didn’t continue with are the same as ours, and this video showed almost all the ones I’ve been contemplating using next year! So thank you!

We use Wordly Wise with my current 8th grader and it is 100% independent. You have an answer key to make correcting easy. He started using this in 4th grade in public school and we continued 6-8th homeschooling. He does one section 4 days per week and will finish the book within 36 weeks of school. Each lesson has parts A-E. Hope that helps.

I LOVE IEW! You mentioned it a while back in one of your videos and then you never brought it up again so I was wondering if you had changed your mind about it. IEW has really helped my son in his writing. He doesn’t really care for any writing curriculum because he doesn’t like writing at all 😂. My only suggestion for you when you start it is that you really have to give it a chance. At first, it seems somewhat redundant. We are now in week 12 of the program and I can definitely see and understand the process way more than I did at the beginning. Just stick to it and keep in mind that although it may seem like it’s not working at first, she will definitely be learning some amazing strategies that she will then be able to utilize in her creative writing, which I know is Brielle’s bread and butter. 😉

I do fit-it with another English curriculum. And S and Style. Sometimes on the same day, sometimes not. FIX IT is really quick each day if your kid is able to focus. But I often altenate s and S and Other English each week. If you are not bogged down with years you can stretch both curriculums to next year and have a very good foundation for everything? Most things repeat anyway each year?

Hello! I'm thinking about switching my daughter from Simply Good and Beautiful math level 6 to Saxon. She had a rough 5th grade year, so we pulled her from her private school she was attending and put her in Liberty University online academy, which also didn't work well with her. So, starting her 6th grade year, we switched things up- using TGATB LA, IEW, and SGAB math. However, math just isn't working out. My question for you is, after using both, do you think Saxon math 6/5 is easier to follow than SGAB math? I'm debating starting her at 5/4 since 5th grade math was a mix-matched-mess for my girl. And, I think there are too many distractions with SGAB for my daughter. She is just hating math even more now. My daughter is also a Brie...;-)

I think my comments has been getting deleted, so at the risk of being annoying, I'm going to mention this one more time. Saxon has a grammar program and a separate writing program. Can't speak much on the writing, but grammar is in the same format as the math. It has dictation, as well as vocab that they go over every day.

I am so sorry your comment was getting deleted 😞. But I did not know Saxon had grammar too. That is so awesome. I love a good old fashion solid english program.😊

Hi, what are your thoughts on Master books history? Do you believe it's coming from a place of Truth? I'm looking for a history curriculum however, I would like for it to be told with truth and not whitewashed.

After much research I have found that you will not find one history curriculum that is truly inclusive. You will have to piece things together yourself. I thought at once I was going to use Masterbooks as my spine. However ,I choose to use a literature based approach to history because it will make it easier for me to add in more diverse literature when I need too. Hopefully this helps.
