It's a tragedy that all these Broadway shows are not recorded professionally. The actors would perform with no audience but a film crew to document and preserve the entire work. For art and historical enjoyment for all.
Why the hell did they change this for Broadway? Cuccioli can do no wrong as Jekyll & Hyde and this is the Jekyll & Hyde that I imagine. This Hyde is how I imagine him from the book (Evil, malevolent, creepy and prone to violent outbursts) This version of Hyde and Lucy's relationship, if that's what you wanna call it, is what it should be, she is terrified of him and wants nothing to do with him. Dangerous game was done brilliantly in this original version, it sums up their dynamic so well, Hyde keeps forcing himself on her and she tries to stay away from him. This is THE version that I acknowledge, truly a gem.

I agree Lucy in this version has a more well developed personality and character, she also clearly wants nothing to do with Edward Hyde and voices her anger towards him to a greater degree than in other versions.
This version has so much more subtlety in its directing... like how Hyde stops and fingers the cross on the wall above Lucy’s bed, and I just like the script better too. They cut the unnecessary dialogue which I also prefer, and it has more moments of humor. The dynamic between Hyde and Lucy is just so well developed here too, their whole scene right after A New Life is just full of tension. Robert really gives Hyde more depth than just “evil and horny” which I adore, and their chemistry is electric
I gotta join in with the mob of people wondering why they changed Dangerous Game so much. I'm sure they had their reasons, but...all that awesome, dynamic blocking! And the way Rob characterized Hyde so awesomely with the use of just a few chairs! The crouch, sitting backwards on one in a deceptively casual manner, purposely falling forwards towards Lucy, knocking them over as he stalks towards her, then EFFORTLESSLY STEPPING OVER THE CHAIR SHE TRIED TO BLOCK HIM WITH. All that perfection turned into a scene where he just sits behind her while she occasionally struggles a little. Well anyway, thank God this video exists so we can enjoy this version.

I wish they had kept some aspects of this version for Broadway! Having loved the Broadway version there’s a lot here I wish would have been in it too, such as the first time Hyde meets Lucy, the end of The Way Back, and the ending with the gun and switching back and forth between J&H. Overall a great show and Cuccioli is my favorite for sure! When he changes in a scene you can actually see the change in character
I wish that they had kept that great segment of Hyde going back to the club for the later versions of the show, that allows the character to breathe after his awakening. Thank you for uploading this!

I just realized... had Utterson stayed, Lucy probably wouldn't have been murdered. I mean, he knows she's in danger, and he clearly cares about her like Jekyll does, so why didn't he stay behind and make sure she was safe?
He saw Jekyll transform before his own eyes. He witnessed Jekyll's urgency in asking Utterson to deliver the letter to Lucy. He told him her life was in jeopardy! :(
Jessica Zeller may other people know where Lucy live? So may he want to get out as soon as possible plus he is a lawyer and does not want to ruin his job
@@kristansimmons1826 I think even he knew he wasn't good for this. This character/ characters requires an extremely strong singer and actor. David was not a terrible actor but this was too big for him and he did not have the voice to perform this roll. Robert Cuccioli is probably the best I have seen in the roll. I never saw Chuck Wagner but have heard he was awesome. A few of the understudies were great as well.
Lucy in this version has a more well developed personality and character, she also clearly wants nothing to do with Edward Hyde and voices her anger towards him to a greater degree than in other versions.
I saw the final performance of J&H at the Alley Theater in Houston. Chuck Wagner played J&H to perfection. That version was darker and bloodier than the hollow Bway version. IMO
Did anyone here see this version in person? I ask because I’m curious if I’m Confrontation Jekyll is looking at anything in particular while fighting with Hyde or if he’s just looking up into the dark? The camera person seems to be pointing towards something that I just can’t see
@@Lulueh Wasn't hyde prjected onto the mirror or something?? Like a giant mirror he was looking into?? :0 I haven't seen it but had to read it somewhere too!
@@CoalDiamondandhisawesomeness I'm ignorant of what goes on in the book, but I think John being the one to pull the trigger makes it that much more heartbreaking. It hiighlights the tragedy of Henry truly losing control, and also the true loyalty of John I'm doing the right thing to put his friend out of his misery.
After Jekyll saw what happened to Lucy he thought the only thing he could do was kill himself. But before he could, he trashed his lab so if anyone came down snooping after he was dead, they wouldn't make another Hyde. What you're seeing is Jekyll completely giving up on his work entirely and making certain no one would make the same mistake
@@BunnyBoo0802 if you read it in the script, it also says he's also doing it out of anger and sadness in himself. The exact wording is ". His clothing still stained in her blood, he now knows his life is destroyed, Emma has abandoned him, Danvers fed up with his behavior, Utterson's duties as a friend fulfilled beyond the straining point of most friendships, Jekyll's own father lost in madness with no cure, and now sweet Lucy dead. Yes, Jekyll sees now that he is utterly alone."
I think that all of the other actors that played as Dr. Henry Jekyll and Mr. Edward Hyde before David Hasselhoff I found more believable compared to Hasselhoff playing as Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde , He did any awesome job as Edward Hyde but I could not take his Henry Jekyll seriously.
DUDE I literally just went down the Les Mis revival memory lane and had the EXACT same thought, Ramin would kill this role, he's so athletic I feel like his Hyde would be so dynamic but he still has the voice of an angel.
Funny thing, I saw J&H three times, with Cuccioli (former Javert), Evans(Former Valjean) and Mahwold (former Enjolras), and each brought something unique. Cuccioli was a more menacing Hyde, Evans a stronger Jeckyll and Mahwold a fine balance of the two.
Does this version have the original Letting Go? I love the original so much more than what they changed it to. It’s such a great song between father and daughter and can’t stand the newer version. It doesn’t hit as hard.
+Haunted Amusement! I think it's just that they had it playing without an image as though he was just hearing it, because after all, it is all inside his mind
Haunted Amusement! That could be true, but as you said, it is quite hard to tell exactly what is going on, and I'm pretty sure that I saw a different version (I think the 1997 one) where the back was a mirror, so maybe he was looking at his reflection and thinking it's Hyde? It is, after all, just speculation. :D
Was any of the material from this version added back into the show? I know that some time after the Broadway production the show got revised again but I don't know specifics on the revisions.
The licensed version has a few parts restored or similar--the character of Nellie, some dialogue between Jekyll and Lucy, the trip to the Red Rat being Jekyll's idea rather than Utterson's. That's all I can recall off the top of my head.
I think so, if you look it up, the listing available is called the 2000 tour version, but there are a few changes, ie., Lisa to Emma, no Girls of the Nights, and the Dregs to the Red Rat. IMO, the one currently available is actually a perfect blend of productions
No, not exactly. My community theater is doing the MTI show now and while there are some similar songs and dialogue of this run, they primarily follow the 2000 tour. It’s weird how many versions are actually floating around out there, but that’s how this show is. I prefer the concept album honestly the most.
Here’s what my book has for the numbers and scenes, If you are curious. Names have been changed as someone else said. Lisa is Emma Carew now. Some songs have been dropped and certain lines have been rearranged as to what character sings them or says them as well. Additionally some lyrics have been changed too. It could have been him I really could not tell because the quality of this video is not that great I looked up his bio which said that he played as Theo in this show then eventually became an understudy to play Dr. Henry Jekyll and Mr. Edward Hyde for Robert Cuccioli, Then once Bob left the show Rob Evan took over the role of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Mr. Edward Hyde. He really liked the role of Jekyll and Hyde because not only did he come back to play the lead male character there was also a Jekyll and Hyde South Korean Tour and I also found out that there is a Jekyll & Hyde Resurrection album which you can find on Spotify or TH-cam and you can also watch Jekyll & Hyde resurrection late show on TH-cam as well.
+McKenzie Virga, Christiane Noll, all three leads were the same as they were on Broadway, the only major cast differences were Sir Danvers was played by Martin Van Treuren, the same guy who plays Spider in this & the Broadway version as well as Lord Savage in the Broadway version; & Utterson was played by the same man from the 1990 Alley Theatre production & the 1994 Gothic Musical Thriller album.
Having seen the Broadway play, I am very glad they “tweaked” it and changed the sets, lines and songs. Glad they took out most of the scenes in the Red Rat. Too over the top. It did give more of a sense of Lucy and Hyde’s sexual relationship for Dangerous Games, but still like the final better. So glad to have seen the tour.
It's a tragedy that all these Broadway shows are not recorded professionally. The actors would perform with no audience but a film crew to document and preserve the entire work. For art and historical enjoyment for all.

Wait what I love girls of the night. That song was beautiful. It gave us a little more about who exactly Lucy Harris is!
WAIT NO ONE TOLD ME THIS
I didn’t expect to like this version more than the broadway version but WOAH
There must be a rule that someone has to have a coughing fit during every song in a live recording. Y'all never heard of ricola???
It's always the same on every musical I have watched here
I just realized... had Utterson stayed, Lucy probably wouldn't have been murdered. I mean, he knows she's in danger, and he clearly cares about her like Jekyll does, so why didn't he stay behind and make sure she was safe?
he probably wanted to save his own ass...or he just didn't know
he didn't know the severity of the situation I'd like to think
He saw Jekyll transform before his own eyes. He witnessed Jekyll's urgency in asking Utterson to deliver the letter to Lucy. He told him her life was in jeopardy! :(
Jessica Zeller may other people know where Lucy live? So may he want to get out as soon as possible plus he is a lawyer and does not want to ruin his job
I think so....
HASSELHOFF WHO! HE WISHES HE WERE AS GOOD AS THIS OR ANTHONY WARLOW
yeah David is more comedic :) Anthony so far is my favorite I'm just watching this bc I need a distraction from my work
heck yea!!!! I personally despise the Hasselhoff version, he is just not good.
A few of the understudies were great as well.
still my favourite recording
Lucy in this version has a more well developed personality and character, she also clearly wants nothing to do with Edward Hyde and voices her anger towards him to a greater degree than in other versions.
I saw the final performance of J&H at the Alley Theater in Houston. Chuck Wagner played J&H to perfection. That version was darker and bloodier than the hollow Bway version. IMO
Never listened to this musical before but the opening has me shuddering holy
Did anyone here see this version in person? I ask because I’m curious if I’m Confrontation Jekyll is looking at anything in particular while fighting with Hyde or if he’s just looking up into the dark? The camera person seems to be pointing towards something that I just can’t see
I didn't see this in person, but I've read that they had a video of Hyde that Jekyll was staring at during confrontation.
@@Lulueh that’s awesome! Thanks!
@@Lulueh Wasn't hyde prjected onto the mirror or something?? Like a giant mirror he was looking into?? :0 I haven't seen it but had to read it somewhere too!
I think it's a mirror
@@LuluehI believe this is it, if you look really hard you can somewhat see something moving around so I believe that it's a video/projection of hyde
2:04:22 when she cried out for Henry… well, I didn’t need a heart anyways
Why did they ever get rid of the gun? It's so much more effective than a sword. Hearing those bullets is heartbreaking
In the final version, Henry technically commits suicide because John doesn't stab him, he jumps onto the sword. You can't do that with a gun.
CoalDiamond- TheMagicRogue Maybe if any future productions bring back the gun, they could have him grab the gun from Utterson and shoot himself?
@@tearoses9940 that would be super cool to watch
@@CoalDiamondandhisawesomeness I'm ignorant of what goes on in the book, but I think John being the one to pull the trigger makes it that much more heartbreaking. It hiighlights the tragedy of Henry truly losing control, and also the true loyalty of John I'm doing the right thing to put his friend out of his misery.
@@Reeal15 Jekyll kills himself in the book too, but under a completely different circumstance.

1:39:50, one of my favorite parts ♥
OH MY GOSH THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
52:53 This repeated part deserves its own song, I wish it were a ringtone
So tragically beautiful. T-T
So amazing!!
This is so good
33:14 Lucy: "I want 'em all, is that a crime?"
*N O O O o o o o o o . . .*
unfortunate that they completely skipped over Bitch Bitch Bitch and went straight to the Board of Governors :(
Most do
Can someone please explain to me what was happening at 2:06:40? I’m very confused.
Ryan Torres ah! Thank you!
@@BunnyBoo0802 if you read it in the script, it also says he's also doing it out of anger and sadness in himself.
The exact wording is
". His clothing still
stained in her blood, he now knows his life is destroyed, Emma has abandoned him, Danvers fed up with his behavior, Utterson's duties as a friend fulfilled beyond the straining point of most friendships, Jekyll's own father lost in madness with no cure, and now sweet Lucy dead. Yes, Jekyll sees now that he is utterly alone."
Ryan Torres oh! Thank you so much! This is very helpful!!
I think that all of the other actors that played as Dr. Henry Jekyll and Mr. Edward Hyde before David Hasselhoff I found more believable compared to Hasselhoff playing as Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde , He did any awesome job as Edward Hyde but I could not take his Henry Jekyll seriously.
his is my fav hyde far and away but yea his jekyll was so cheesy and terrible.
oh... for a moment, it almost was.
I think Ramin Karimloo would be perfect to play this role.
Nah
Bring on the Men version!
I don't like it, too anachronistic, specially those costumes!
And to think we got the worse Broadway version with the far worse David Hasselhoff. Tragedy. So glad this exists.
How was the Confrontation done? It's hard to tell from the video.
I believe, based on the overlap, Hyde's part was prerecorded and played as Bob matched his part to it
+Kyu-Ri Says hi But was there a projection of Hyde behind him or something like in the revival?
+Haunted Amusement! I think it's just that they had it playing without an image as though he was just hearing it, because after all, it is all inside his mind
***** I think there is an image because the photographer zooms out when you first hear Hyde's voice. And Jekyll looks at the wall behind him.
Is Robert Cuccioli playing Jekyll/Hyde ????
Yes
Was any of the material from this version added back into the show?
I know that some time after the Broadway production the show got revised again but I don't know specifics on the revisions.
The licensed version has a few parts restored or similar--the character of Nellie, some dialogue between Jekyll and Lucy, the trip to the Red Rat being Jekyll's idea rather than Utterson's. That's all I can recall off the top of my head.
Does anybody know who is on the cover of the album Jekyll and Hyde the Gothic Musical Thriller? It looks familiar.
"The world Has go insane"is in this version?
No, unfortunately. It wasn't practical to stage and lasted only one performance at the very beginning of the tour.
@@AlexiaDark:( great song
Who played Jekyll in this?
Robert cuccioli
That was a great show, but is that creepy scene at 2:10:47 supposed to be afterlife or something?
I think its the Guest's Entering The Wedding (also why would it be the afterlife)
@@jessicaruizcollazo2372 Well, Lucy just appeared walking in that scene after that character died earlier, so that's why I assumed that.
@@DinoLover4242..... Did She?
@@jessicaruizcollazo2372 Yes, she got stabbed by Mr. Hyde.
@@DinoLover4242 No did she apear

2:07:00 "confrontation"

Is this the Anthony warlow and Linda Eder original cast?
Same cast as Broadway. Anthony Warlow performed on the 1994 album, but has never done the show live, save for a concert a few years ago.
Is this the version MTI licensed??
I think so, if you look it up, the listing available is called the 2000 tour version, but there are a few changes, ie., Lisa to Emma, no Girls of the Nights, and the Dregs to the Red Rat. IMO, the one currently available is actually a perfect blend of productions
@@zipzapzop6519 why do they cut Girls of the Night??? It’s such a good number to give more depth to Lucy and the Red Rat girls

Anyone know what the time stamp is for “the world has gone insane”?
Also 2:56 is that Rob Evan??
Cuccioli el mejor Hyde de la historia!
What the hell is that thing in his hand at 1:14:58
The Bishop's cross
anyone have the time stamp for “alive”? if it’s in here at all
51:33, technically, but it's a longer version that sort of envelopes a scene at the Red Rat, continuing at 58:04. Hope this helps!
Is should also mention even with the poor quality, it’s far better than the bullshit hasselhoff version.
Does anyone know who the Nellie is?
Where is “I Need to Know”?
It was cut very early in the run, which is too bad.
@ I had to look it up. I could’ve sworn they just lowered the key, but that was added after the Broadway production.
Meu Deus isso me da tanto medo
What did hyde throw at 1:15:16
Bishop's necklace. Rosary maybe? Does that term apply to a Bishop?
@@AlexiaDark yea think
This is Anthony Warlow as Jekyll/Hyde, right?
Alicia Sinclair no, it's Robert Cuiccioli.
Who is playing Lisa carew
+McKenzie Virga, Christiane Noll, all three leads were the same as they were on Broadway, the only major cast differences were Sir Danvers was played by Martin Van Treuren, the same guy who plays Spider in this & the Broadway version as well as Lord Savage in the Broadway version; & Utterson was played by the same man from the 1990 Alley Theatre production & the 1994 Gothic Musical Thriller album.
There is a pretty good Russian version (with English subtitles) for comparison: th-cam.com/play/PLDIarktnxUGjEw9ABn4ZfLV8seafIx9Uy.html
This would absolutely be the definitive version of this show, had only Cuccioli’s Hyde not sounded like Kermit the frog
2:09:15 sorry, just a reminder
Having seen the Broadway play, I am very glad they “tweaked” it and changed the sets, lines and songs. Glad they took out most of the scenes in the Red Rat. Too over the top. It did give more of a sense of Lucy and Hyde’s sexual relationship for Dangerous Games, but still like the final better. So glad to have seen the tour.
Anyone know what the time stamp is for “the world has gone insane”?
It wasn't in the 1995 tour. Or, more accurately, I believe it was in exactly one performance and was cut.
