THE ONLY BAND THAT MATTERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
...its about this time that Joe Strummer referred to them selves as a news organization and pointed their machine heads at the police, definitely the best rock band ever. Thanks for posting.
Damn, this band could rock
Have watched/listened to this many times over the years, including today, the 20th anniversary of Joe's passing. Still utterly magnificent in the glory of The Clash at the height of their considerable powers!
Three times Santa Monica Civic, once Hollywood Palladium. Just terrific concerts.
I was there that night. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Thanks for posting it.
Hey Ken,
I was at that show also. You are the second person I know that was at that show.
THE CLASH WERE WAY,WAY,WAY, WAY AHEAD OF THERE TIMES!.
Got to meet Mick Jones at Hitsville South in Asbury Park, when his then girlfriend Ellen Foley played live. Someone at the campus radio station tipped me off that he would appear and sing on her hit Tourchlight. I helped record the interview for WMCX which I didn't listen to because they were a WNEW clone. Mostly I listened to WNYU because they were hip.
I was there, 16 and stoned and loving it. Too bad the US tour was the beginning of the end. R.I.P. Joe.
Thanks for sharing this video - didn't know one existed.
Do you remember what happened to make Mick say, "Smart, really smart, for the rest of you this is 'Stay Free'"? He seemed to sing the whole song directly to some asshole in the audience. Put him/her in their place. I envy you for being there. I would've gone but I was 13 and lame and in North Dakota. Plus, I admit I didn't even get into the Clash until I was 15. Cheers!
thx for this. so few live gigs recorded by this great band every one is precious.
Great contribution! thanks
The Clash rocks the world¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
Welcome in the raw, powerful énergic rock of The Clash in live, Dude !
Coolest band ever bar none!!!!!!
The triumph of the Clash @ 51:22, I think. Complete Control. "I don't trust you, why TRUST ME?!!" Man, freakin' great.
I tell people hearing "Complete Control" live has been the best 3:50 of my life.
This is AMAZING!!!!!! Why have I never seen this????? Where can I get a copy???? I have the Fridays appearance but didn't know the Jersey video even existed. You just made my morning with this, many many thanks for posting!!!! Hopefully I'll find a copy one of these days.
did you catch the end, where it appears to be recorded over a Springsteen performance?
I just got a copy on dvd a few days ago, haven't watched it to the end yet, but I'll definitely look for it.
Thanks for posting. Saw them around same time in Asbury Park. Good memories.
Enjoyed this video! All the best!!
the best ever
Epic, just so brilliant
SI THE CLASH IS A ROCK BAND MORE POWERFULL OF THE WORLD, MEJOR DICHO ES LO MAXIMO Y DE PUTA MADRE
I was there: Harvard Square Theatre | February 16, 1979 (with Bo Diddley) - Village Voice critic Robert Christgau walked out. Saw them many times after, up to the 17 concert Bonds marathon in NYC in 1981 (now you know why they hated record labels and concert promoters) after that they became an arena act
saw them live at Long Beach, Ca. Fantastic!
They open with my favorite Clash song. Can't hear the keyboards though.
Rock Rock!!!!
if only i was....not from thiis era and not 16 so i could see this show
you my friend are a very lucky person
yeeeeaaaaaahhhh i really love this band and i thank my dad for showing me them
los mas grandes
so fucken good........
Turn up Mikey's mic!!
my 1st clash concert
I saw them with the English Beat in SF at the Civic.
I was there.
Missed "Police and Thieves" after "Whiteman"
Fixed.Thank you!
Love Joe's bass playing on gob
Miss Joe , RIP - Trapped at home and was watching clips of The Clash live and mistakenly stumbled onto the US festival recording - nice camera footage but man it is painful to watch that ASS Pete Howard butcher the drums. At one point he has to drop his left arm he just cant play any more. I Had to go find a classic topper show and this is a good one!! - he is just the best..
Which is better the ramones or the sex pistols? The answer.... THE CLASH!!!!*

www.capitoltheatrepassaic.com/
Whats the song of the intro?
Hey mate , song is called Sixteen Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford. th-cam.com/video/S1980WfKC0o/w-d-xo.html
@@pitaroudia thanks!
john rotten was right
three songs and they`re done
good band on record - but live
nah
i saw em in 1980 - it still galls me that they didn`t play complete control
Uh-huh. I try to remember to always never seek out Mr Lyddon's opinions and he almost never lets me down.
uh huh
CBS promote the Clash - but it ain`t for revolution it`s just for cash
Punk is Dead / Crass (1978)
true words
white riot - please ban us like you did the Pistols
remote control / complete control - songs about CBS treatment
capitol radio - a mainstream media outlet
don`t get me wrong - they`re good songs - but the sentiment
nothing compared to the Pistols
likewise - live ; nothing but an imitator
slap head Dont u dare...Best punk rock band ever!......
i bought white riot yesterday for a tenner
the pistols were a tour de force - an art movement - the rest were copycats - as good as they all were
i was listening to Metal Box the other day and i thought - they`ve totally nicked the banshees style - but nevertheless, PIL, like the pistols - were brilliant - and miles ahead of most if not all the other bands of the day
there`s an interview where Joe goes - we were searched by rasta for pound notes - and paul kind of butts in and says - all we had was bottles
watch Joe`s face - it`s like ; god i know he`s bullshitting but what can i say or do
even the film Rude Boy is convoluted - or rigged - with, what riles me the most about it - even thought it is a good film - a credit to9 Thatcher at the end saying something like it`s time for change - as if Tories could be trusted
i saw the clash a couple of times - and they were brilliant - but they never touched the Sex Pistols
sorry Caroline
Joe and Mick used to hang around Porobello market on a Saturday - i`ve walked right by them - but not spoke - i was about as communicative as a mute lepper in those days
slap head Too bad.....But u made up for it later, though.....

The whole thing show, being against the stage in the center was the best of 13 Clash shows live. The group of us was always up front for most of the shows.
they love playing hands reach to the crowd after all these are your money the fans
