This episode is such a tough one to get through, and it always breaks my heart. Knew it would be an emotional one for you too, and I loved that you had such a powerful and genuine emotional reaction to it even though you made me cry too. The fact that you are truly so invested in the story is what makes your reactions so great.
I sobbed with you while watching this, I haven't seen this episode in a while and my god is it heart-wrenching. I love how became bittersweet at the end though, its really beautiful what they did for her so her death would be somewhat happy. I agree with what you said about Mary, she wasn't even in the show that long but they really got you to love her and thats what hurts. Shes such a kind person and it also destroys me to see Bash like this. As I said though, I'm glad it ended being bittersweet.

I agree that they should have considered starting the Residential school stuff for the following episode, but I think it was done to contrast the good and bad parts of their community, especially if you consider the 'are these good white folk' comment from Mary's friends.
Your face was extra expressive this episode and when you cried, it was all of us the first time we saw this episode. I am glad that you were able to feel some sympathy for Elijah, to understand why he acted the way he did - even though his actions were hurtful to others. Mary did make Bash promise that, when the time came, that he would fight for Delphine's right to attend school in Avonlea. I gather from your reaction that you know a bit about what went on at Residential schools. I usually give the British reactors a heads up, but figure that the American ones know at least something. The last one in Canada closed in 1992. I am surprised that no one asked why the children could not just attend the school in Avonlea. That should have been the tip off that this wasn't on the up and up.
Oh god this is the most sad episode ever! I saw this episode with my sister and i just explode in front of her! When i saw the kite i realized she was dead, I've been depressed all the day. That's so sad because the series kill all the people we love! Every time i watch that scene i always cry... Mary was a super nice person!
