Your timing is such a gift! My sister asked for a black swan and I desperately needed to know how to create it's lovely plumage. So, thank you.
I am so glad you showed this. I needed a different way to do feathers.
The hummingbird wings look VERY promising! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love to make birds and this will make them so much more realistic.
Your Plumage video was so inspirational. Fortunately I have most of the tools except that wonderful comb board that I must purchase . Can’t wait to see your next lesson. Thank you Thank you
I am totally excited. I need to make some very small feathers, like the tiny one you showed in the start. I have been procrastinating because it all seemed impossible. But now I am going to get started and practice. One thing I guess I need if the feathers are to be tiny is a comb with much closer teeth, I have one. I also have a hair cutting kit and a metal ruler...So I think I am set. As I will use very very thin wire, I think some tweezers for holding while twisting will work for me too. The only thing I don't have is the board to hold the comb...but I can improvise. I am overseas and the exchange rate is prohibitive for me to buy from you but I do thank you for this video.
Gota try this can’t wait to try this watching replay
This was exactly what i needed for my next project ❤️
Always learning is a great state of being. Thanks for helping!
Thank you so much for this video! I’m going to be working on a phoenix and this will be so helpful!
Que privilegio haber visto como realiza una pluma...es precioso tu trabajo. Ojalá pusieras subtítulos en español para quienes no hablamos Inglés.
Really exciting! Looking forward to trying this!

Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge. I've been trying to make a Bald Eagle and I can't find any tutorials or kits.
Thank you love your video
Yay so excited for this!!!
Would really like a tutorial on how to make those pin feathers that are on the head and neck please.
Hi Sara, this is such a wonderful video. I'm wondering what happens with the fiber in the comb that's under the ruler, do you use that as well in the feather; in other words, work from one side of the comb to the other side? Also, is the iron hot with steam?
You can use all of the fiber that is laid out, yes. Iron generally without steam, but you could experiment!
I wonder if you considered using the iridescent or metallic powders (i.e. PearlEx) for coloring the feathers? As soon as I saw the rooster, I thought of using those powders for coloring humming birds, peacocks and other fancy feathers.
That would be a lot of fun to experiment with!
Looks fun
Hola, te escribo desde Chile. Siempre sigo tus videos, agradezco mucho tus enseñanzas. Tus creaciones son maravillosas. Una pregunta, existe alguna posibilidad que los videos tengan traductor al español. Abrazos y felicitaciones!!!!
Do you think with this technique you could make extra long feathers? Like one meter long for an angel cosplay?
Great idea. Love the technique and can't wait to try it. However, I have to say I found the side view of Sara very distracting. Much nicer to have Sara looking at the camera and to feel she is talking to you. Thank you.
Where can I purchase the plume pallet
I have used this technique on my horse tails for months
Nice video. What fabrik is it, that you use?
Late to the party but can these feathers be made from wool, or must it be fur? Thank you.
What a great tool! Is there something you could add to the tool so you wouldn't have to use a ruler? Maybe add a hinged weight onto it? What are the other slots for? Does this mean you will be adding smaller combs to the set, to make smaller feathers?
Hi! The other slots are for the scissors as you cut, kind of like a fabric cutting table.
Is there anyway to simulate the irridecense of feathers?
My apologies but where are all the links you spoke of? Especially the hair cut kit(s)!
Thanks, I need the kit too!
Great video - overhead, front view and close up. I agree, not a fan of the side view. Distracting. Thanks!
Hi, any tips for making the peacock feather?
How do you attach the feathers to your sculpture?
I don't have an ironing board as don't like to iron anything lols could I just use a roller back and forth to flatten it?
You want something with heat to really flatten and shine it.
@@SarafinaFiberArtHowTo thanks 😊
I bet you could work gold leaf into the feathers!
Could you use a hair straightener instead of an iron?
Hi! I would think that would work, yes.
Creature features
that twisting would be easier and faster with a power drill
Can you provide a link for DeLisa? Is that her name?
Delisa is linked on this page: www.sarafinafiberart.com/articles.asp?id=323
Those scissors are expensive. Wow. $160 on amazon
Love your videos, always turn off music...it increases anxieties. Music conflicts with ur calm, knowledgeable voice.
That is such a long winded way to make a feather - there are much easier ways.
