Darn!!...must be hard to live in such tight quarters! :D Enjoyed tremendously all the information given and her wonderful demeanor and calm manners. Thank you my lady!
Wow..Lady Carnarvon.....the descendant of the late great Lord Carnarvon...who funded Howard Carter's expedition to Egypt in the early 20th century. The family indeed does have some history...
I'm addicted to Downton Abbey, I can't get enough of the series.. and now I'm watching all the youtube videos that has a 'Downton Abbey' title ha ha ha
My bf Steve & I are big fans of the series and hope to visit Highclere within the next couple of years. So magnificent but certain video doesn't begin to do justice to it's beauty!!

Remember you can't take riches and status with you to the grave. The most beautiful thing on this earth is not diamonds, mansions, or physical beauty but a kind heart.
How could the countess not know how many rooms are in her home ? 2 to 3 hundred. Wow thats quite a range. If it pleases her ladyship I will gladly volunteer to count the rooms. likes.
1679 So about 40 years after Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries. I'm sure the Bishops, who owned the property 800 years prior, weren't happy about that. It's a fitting place to shoot a series called Downton Abbey.
Although my house could fit in one room of the castle, I, too am not sure how many rooms I have as I never know whether to count bathrooms, entrance ways, halls etc. as rooms. Some of the landings there are bigger than both floors of my house but I doubt they would be considered 'rooms' nor would disused out-of-date servants rooms perhaps, so I don't see any problem with her not knowing.
Nice to see, but I am asking myself what to do on earth with 200 (or 300 whatever) rooms. P.S. I am asking myself, "not knowing exact how many room the house has", is that a valse form of modesty (not daring to say that is in fact -for normal people- too many)
200 or 300 rooms? 50 to 80 bedrooms? My Lord. I am sure some one has counted. She is lovely but speaks far too fast and so much of what is said makes no sense to me. I went over and over a few sections and still have no idea what she was meaning to convey. I would have liked more and clearer information.
Yes. About 40 to 50 years after King Henry VIII seized church property, made thousands of people homeless and unemployed, and then pocketed the assets.
I really admire the simplicity of Lady Carnarvon. Thanks for the tour!

I hereby volunteer to count the actual number of rooms in the castle since it's still a vague "2 or 3 hundred".

What does she say about the dining seat arrangements mirroring the “Plamal?”upstairs to the downstairs servant table formally below.

Perhaps, but that's one imposing castle someone left after his death.
Love the show!

Amazing that in this time we have an upholstered piece in place of a wooden coffee table! You missed the right piece by several decades!!!

Terrible choice for a camera lens, the warping is atrocious. I expected better from a legacy news source.
I agree, plus, you don't hear the term Legacy News Source often enough. TIME can afford better.
