I have a soft spot for the 1937-40 IHC trucks. On our South Dakota farm we had a 39 IHC truck from 1939 to 1966. This particular truck was about as straight as you could hope for.
Silas, the front and side badges on the hood of the '54 Ford are worth some good money. I have a '56 F-100 I've been trying to get badges for for a while. Everyone wants my left arm for them. And that grill! Mmmm, mmmm!
most days we are banned from using a torch , during red flag days the winds are 50+ mph and one little spark could wipeout a bunch of acres, recently a neighboring town , a body shop tried to burn some boxes and the wind burned about 20 homes , they even ban smoking outside .
I just wish there was a history sheet on old rigs. If they could talk, think of the hills that they had a run away or lost their brakes... had a load so heavy, it should of been on three trucks.. why not stretch the truth, humans do/lol. I do understand the reasons to save and also the reasons they just need to go. Some of us are born into money while others fight for every nickel in their pocket, they seldom had more than one coin to rub against another one. I used to drive many of those old rigs that are now in their final resting spot and like you said... your only one of many folk who have a wrecking/salvage yard with some rigs that in the whole world, there might be one person who needs that strip of chrome, he is in Maine or washington, maybe alaska... so needing and even getting it would be even less likely. Just for example, I am a ford guy so when they have someone walking through a wrecking yard filming rigs there I hope to see the old fords, especially the 57 ford two door hardtops as it was my first nice and near new car. The guy filming his video will walk by every ford to show a four door nova or bisquain chevy. Or his choice is mopars and thats all he will film. Once in a while a ford guy will video some fords but they are truly scrap model A's or rusty T models. The real nice to fix ones he or she will just walk by showing them in the background leaving me frustrated... after all, its his video, so why do I get worked up.. no answer needed. I share different videos of yours showing certain old rigs that I know others do like as well hoping they will go get them... I shared a bunch to Mr. Goodpliers and then shortly after, he came to your yard... can't say I sent him tho. Have a great evening Silas

Another great video Silas you never disappoint. Watching you cut stuff up reminds me of when I worked for a machinery manufacturing company about the only time I had any fun was on occasions when I got to go out in the yard and chop up scrap machinery.

My friend who ran a scrap yard for years always used a cutting torch that was about four feet long. He could stand farther away from what he was cutting, and the stuff on the ground he could get without doing as much bending.

That 7.3 in the bus is pretty desirable if it's only 140k on it. Idk what things are like there but everywhere I look around they seem to bring decent $. Even as a core for rebuild it should be 500$ by itself. If you start parting the turbo, injectors, ecm, starter, etcetc it would seem to me you'd be in the 1500$ range. Wish you were closer I'd love to be buying it by the pound.
Couple of questions you might be able to answer. First when Studebaker go out of business, two there was a company called tupelo that made a car called the tupelo torpedo cheaper, better and more affordable than the heavy hitters like GM , FORD , CHRYSLER etc that helped fabricate a story that eventually put the company I to bankruptcy but was found out to a buch lies . Anyway, who eventually bought the company out of liquidation? Possibly in the early 50's ? I don't know so I figured you might know since you deal with so many older vehicles from that Era.
Hi Sal. Sorry for My english but it's not My first lenguage. Wouldnt be easier if hoy hace a dump truck and put the load in it and just dump at the scrap yard? That way You don't waste time chaining the loads, it's more secure and you don't have to wait the crane for unloading?
I love the videos when you go through the old farm houses and check them out Barnes and stuff really cool but I was curious why can't you fix the windshield wiper on your tractor is it just need a new blade or just a whole motor shot I don't think it looks like it would be very hard to replace it you got to consider that so that way you can keep your windshield clean so you can see? LOL keep up the great videos my friend I do enjoy them.

That bus would be good for a church or a job project to haul workers out in the field ,that 7.3 ,was it none turbo , if I get one ☝️ I’ll be pulling the bus body off and use the rest for one of my ol Chevy 2.5 trucks and make a wrecker slide bed or a boom truck , and I know what you are talking about metal growing out of the dirt , just yesterday I got a piece of 3/8 flat bar hunge up in the tracks of my Link-Belt 2800 excavator , lol I had to lift the track on that side a roll it to where is could kick it out , it was a nice 20 foot stick of flat bar 4.5 inch wide , lol thanks BigAl California.praise Jesus Christ grace amen 🙏.

Hey Silas, what do you do with the gas in all the junk cars that are brought in, (that actually have gas left in them) are you able to filter it and put it in that beater work truck? Or does it all go in the same container as the oil, coolant, and every other fluid? I feel like I would try and use old gas in like a yard truck or something.

No it moves, but the blade is bent and the hose for the washer broke. Of course they can only be ordered via Case, so they cost about $200 to replace a $15 part.

Too bad the old International didn't get bought for a rat rod. One of those military beds would have completed the rat rod with the right patina paint to match. Sad! Staging it's potential with a bed and wheels might have saved it.

Very difficult and time consuming to get the radiators out of them. I had plenty of other stuff to crush, so I’ll do those later.
