    The writing is so good! All they had to do was cloud my mind with “Tyr just wants peace” and that prevented me from seeing the truth.

    There is another huge hint you didn't mention.
    The first time Atreus goes to Asgard and is walking around with Odin, Odin let's a big hint slip on accident. He tells Atreus at one point during their walk that "At least Mimir hasn't lost his sense of humor." This line implies Odin has been spending time recently with Mimir. The only time we've seen Odin and Mimir interact recently is at the very beginning when he and Thor came to "talk." But in that scene, Mimir was angry and hostile with Odin; he never made jokes or anything. So Odin bringing up Mimir's sense of humor reveals that Odin has been Tyr and spending time with Mimir at Sindri's house; where Mimir would be relaxed and act more like himself (joking, telling stories, etc...)

    • @DiobeticDaily

      I like what your thinking but hes deff talking about visiting the house and mimir being a dick lol

    • @ShadowJCreed
      @ShadowJCreed ปีที่แล้ว +299

      One of his lines before that also I feel was a hint, “Well he hasn’t exactly got a good perspective with my former employee and ex-wife in his ear” Not the exact quote but Atreus only went to Asgard right when Freya moved into Brok and Sindri’s House. Kratos did spend plenty of time with Freya in the last game but with that little detail definitely felt off with me that he mentioned Freya

    • @Rhethardation
      @Rhethardation ปีที่แล้ว +100

      Honestly that wasn't such a big tell, given the fact that Mimir Immediately went hard on him when he visited their home, So we're kinda mislead to believe he was referring to this moment.

      @latelate1000 ปีที่แล้ว +127

      Odin is known for using ravens as his spies to find out what happens in the Nine Realms and he is also spoken of as a god that wants to know everything, so these hints don't actually hint at Odin being Tyr but can simply be a nod towards Odin knowing a lot.

    The 4 biggest hints to me after re-playing were.
    1. When the group learns that Goa hid the true prophecy. Odin's pure shock and horror to realize all the preparations mean nothing. And the outbursts of anger he has towards Atreus and Kratos.
    2. If you go back to the "cell" we rescued him from. There's tons of raven feathers covering the floor.
    3. The way he tries to stroke Atreus' ego after they learn he's the champion of the Giants.
    4. And I think this is the biggest tell. When Freya first enters Sindri's home he calls her Frigg. Which is stated by Mimir to be something that only Odin ever called her as a cute nickname.
    And not really a tell but the fact that Tyr this 10 foot tall god that towers over even Kratos fit himself in a broom closet just made me chuckle but realizing Odin just used the area to go back and forth between Sindri's home and Asgard makes a lot more sense than him curling up in a ball trying to fit LMAO

    Saw a comment over here complaining about Brok being the only one who realized in the end what was happening, calling it the "lowest point" in the game, but i can't find it so I'm just gonna explain why that mindset is superficial and shallow.
    Brok is way smarter than most characters, and we see it multiple times throughout the story: when Mimir fails to understand one simple riddle he makes, expecting a complicated answer; when he teaches both Kratos and Mimir about the essence of things and dwarven magic, and when he says the existence or destiny is irrelevant for him because he gets to choose his actions. He is not a dumb character; he is a simple character that doesn't let other's knowledge or perception dictate what he thinks. That's why even if everyone respects Tyr and believes his BS, Brok does not; he doesn't care who he is, all he cares about is he's not making sense at all.

Along with that (as many people have pointed out) he used vegetables in the soup, Odin wouldn’t normally do this but since he was challenged and didn’t want to lose, he acted carelessly. “Tyr” also begins to become more agitated with brok near the end when he calls his food “passable dirt soup”, seeing it as Brok saying he underperformed in the challenge.

    In addition to all these specific moments, I think there were subtle hints in the way he acted throughout the game. Tyr always seemed preachy, annoying, cowardly, and impractical with his pacifism. After the twist, that makes perfect sense: it's because that's what Odin thinks pacifism is. Another clue : the others all had their obvious space in Sindri’s home and ALL were accessible when at Sindri’s home, but “Tyr” was often hiding in a locked closet. During those times he wasn’t around, you couldn’t even interact with the door of said closet, you couldn’t hear him speak, move. Etc. I think Freya complains he’s suffering something like anxiety or ptsd to excuse how he’s hiding.
    He wasn’t there. He can’t be in two places in once so he would go to the closet, lock himself there then transport in and out as needed - none of them would notice. Anyone talking to the closet would think he was ignoring them or sleeping.

    I love how the developers get creative with many characters by taking common tropes and turning them on their heads. For example, most of us thought Tyr was a "badass pacifist" who just wanted peace, while smarter players thought he was a spy for Odin. But no one guessed Tyr WAS Odin, while the real Tyr was still locked away somewhere (not dead).
    Another example: Everyone expected Odin to be a cliche villain who has an intimidating dimeanor and laughs with an evil laugh, but instead he's just a down-to-earth guy who speaks like any ordinary person, making him _truly_ manipulative because actual manipulative people don't sound like Thanos, or Palpatine, or Voldemort, or Firelord Ozai. They sound like your friend or neighbor or co-worker.
    Another example is Freya. After Freya becomes a Valkyrie queen, frees herself from Odin's curse, forgives Kratos, reconciles with her brother, and liberates her homeland from the Aesir, Kratos encourages her to lead the assault on Asgard. We all expected her to take on the challenge and further develop her leadership arc, but she instead refuses the position and asks that Kratos lead the assault because he has extensive experience as a war general.
    Then you have Thor, whose body isn't at all like that of Chris Hemsworth, but more like that of Kevin James. You also have Thrud, who doesn't fit the skinny girl archetype that most female characters in video games and movies do, but actually takes from her father by being slightly heavyset.
    You also have Mimir. You think he's just another wise and lovable comic relief guy, but there's also instances where you're angry with him or question his virtues. For example, his bondage of the whale and his mediation of Freya's unhappy marriage.
    Finally you have Sindri. Another lovable character you'd never expect to turn so cold.
    Things like that. The creativity in how the characters in GOW are written is what makes them feel so real and memorable as opposed to, say, the characters of Assassin's Creed Valhalla which feel so stale and predictable by comparison. Kudos to Santa Monica studios!

    There are also three details that could also clue you in on Tyr's true identity. One was when Tyr stood in from on those spears in the Jothun shrine. Then later Odin talks to Kratos and walks over to spears. There's when Tyr called a spear that was offered to him a walking stick. Odin later uses his spear as walking stick. And lastly Brok brings up the fact that Tyr's stew has vegetables in it. While this could just mean Sindr stocked some fruits and vegetables. Asgard is the corner stone for most vegetable and fruit exports as mentioned by Mimir. So it's likely he either just like vegetables or brought them from Asgard. Those are some details i noticed.
