I am a retired high voltage electrician. Some electrical tapes stretch and some do not. 3M +33 tape is designed to stretch 50% and be double lapped, to keep out moisture. That tape is a lineman's tape. Stay away from economy tapes of all brands, because they are not engineered to stretch and half lap. +33 will cost about $5 and is available at most big box stores.
Thank you for beautiful & factual video information about grafting. I have one question. In this video at video time 03:05, the size of scion is approximately 3inch (7.62cm). I wonder if such an old / large scion can be grafted successfully? Please elaborate & share your experience about such big size scion grafting.

This is great info and so helpful for folks who can’t access specialist grafting tape. Thanks!

Yes! Bark grafting can be done on a really thick branch or even trunk…as long as it’s the r right time of year and the bark is slipping 😊
Super cool! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I would have sealed the Rootstock. Help prevent water loss, and prevent bugs getting into the tree
That's a good point, is the risk significant?
