- Here's an obscure piece. It's the cheapened version of the classic Thomas Theme that was used in commericals advertising the ERTL range in the 1990's. I'm guessing it may have been a liscening issue or maybe they actually wanted to have a version more suited for the commerical, this simplified version of the theme does suit the dinky aesthetic of the toys used in the commercials.

My family would not buy ertl Thomas back then because die-Cast Metal could be a hazard to my brother at the time.
So instead they bought us Wooden Railway stuff. I still love Ertl for being extremely accurate to the character models.

@@Leonardo-cw1dd Sadly the only wooden train I have now is a classic first edition Thomas, but it’s severely damaged. I guess you can say he was loved. 😅

Do many memories, I still have mine and my brothers old collection, I even have a sealed golden Thomas, and two narrow gauge shiny’s.
Never saw this commercial as a baby/kid but real talk, I feel more nostalgia hearing this version than the actual theme!

I only got to see the third commercial that had Rusty and Sir Handel in it. The first time I saw it was 1998
I remember having almost every ERTL engine out there. I sooooo miss this line. They were literally as realistic looking as you could get with Thomas merch.

I've still got my ERTL collection. I was heartbroken when they discontinued it.
Compared to what merch we have today i preffer the golden oldies (motor road and rail, take n play, ERTL, Wooden Railway ext)

As someone who hasn't grown up with ERTL or their commercials, seeing them on TH-cam and hearing this really accurate instrumental makes me feel somehow nostalgic.
Good times, I remembered when I finally got my hands on some of those ertl engines back in 2010. I also remembered the time when I went to play with some at my old friend's house before then.
Ahhhhh yes, these bad boys were the Holy Grail of Thomas merchandise back in the day. My family could only ever find them at the local hobby shop - I ended up getting a lot of the wooden trains as gifts from family over the years, but my die cast engines were my prizes possessions by far

Oh man, I've got so many of these chilling out in the garage. My grandma used to get them for me when I was little when she went up to the mountains.
I remember I watched a commercial for the Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends ERTL toys back in 1995 on TCC. It had a clip of Time for Trouble and two clips of Trust Thomas, as far I can remember.
I remember watching the Ertl Thomas commercials on TH-cam when I first began to get interested in the Ertl line! That was years ago and it felt so good to hear this from you!
I wished they still soled these Thomas ertl products here in Australia I do remember getting them as my first introduction to this franchise and I still want to get all the non engine models like the road vehicles for my new layout we have now.

From a kid (age 4), I have been a huge fan and collector of Thomas and Friends ERTL Merchandise.
As a kid, I had no idea the Playtrack existed. I had every single train though. They were the most screen accurate toys to date.
True, though the Tomix and Bachmann lines that came after are pretty authentic looking too (I'd have drooled over one of those G Scale sets as a kid, even if they would have likely been too expensive for me to ever have one).
What a neat Variant of the theme, I had to look up the commercial after listening to this because I'd never heard of it before.

I think the only ERTL toy I ever had was an ERTL Percy, the rest were all Tomy, Trackmaster, Wooden Railway, and Take Along.
Those were the good old days, I haven’t seen and played them in years.

Nice, I love this commercial but I never once thought in my lifetime that anyone would make a remix of the song that's just honestly pretty dope!! Some day I plan on remaking the commercial using brand new footage of the characters in Ertl and another remake where the commercial is entirely made into Bachmann (and then I would just change the brand name and lines to say Bachmann instead of Ertl)!
Oh I remember seeing these commercials on TH-cam years ago. I always wondered what an instrumental of the music would sound like.
This piece was actually exclusive for the American commercials in order to promote Shining Time Station in the early 90s.
Now THIS is a work of art! Which makes me quite glad that I still own my entire collection of ERTL models to this day. In fact, I've nearly completed my collection.

I'm trying to find and image of a playtrack I had as a kid. It was made of plastic and was 3D, and had an indented track.

I don’t know what it is about this, but just listening to this just makes me feel nostalgic. Maybe it’s because the theme is pitched up by 1 semitone and i just like stuff like that. Now, I never grew up with ERTL, I grew up with the (far superior) Take Along/Take ‘n Play pre-2014 toys, and I’ve longed to own an ERTL Edward (cuz he’s my favorite character) and cuz I would binge watch GWR Studios’ ERTL Thomas collection and see Edward and go like “That’s the one!” But really I think it’s because it at 1 semitone higher than the original theme.

Awesome. I had some as a kid. I think they're nicely detailed for the small sized they are. Not a fan of the hook for the couplers as they pretty fragile.

Also getting flashbacks of having most of those figures (albeit all scratched up from playing too much :P) as well the pull back Thomas and Percy and remote control Thomas (that was kinda pointless on a tiny wire but I still loved it).
