      That actually I have not tested. Scenes do not work if you have no active internet connection. You most probably can access the sensors locally tough.

    Great video. I have so many IoT devices connected to my router that my bandwidth has decreased. Do you have a video to enhance this or any other suggestion you can give me like creating VLANs? What devices should I buy? Thank you!

    • @csongorvarga
      @csongorvarga  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry, I have no idea. Definitely one reason to switch to Zigbee, so that instead of all the different individual IoT sensors, only the Zigbee bridge is connected to the wifi. You can buy a router which works on 2.4 and 5GHz as well, and you can migrate all your laptops, phones to 5Ghz network and leave 2.4 for the IoT. You can also download a wifi scanner app on the phone to see which wifi channels are used by your router and other wifi networks and maybe set it manually so it is on a less busy channel.

    What's the difference between the zigbee and TH16?

    • @csongorvarga
      @csongorvarga  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In terms of the sensor, it is probably same or very similar. TH16 connects to the wifi directly, and it also has a relay. So it can directly control a device, for example a fan, or dehumidifier. The zigbee sensor works on zigbee, it also needs a zigbee bridge before you can use it. And it is only a sensor, if you want to control anything (like a fan), you need another Sonoff like a Basic that has the relay to control any device.

    I'm just adding my experience here - the pairing wouldn't work with the manufacturer-installed batteries (yes, even with the battery isolation removed!) I would see the flashing lights but no pairing. It wasn't until I put in fresh batteries that the sensor would pair.

      @@csongorvarga I wonder if Google Home will treat is as a sensor. E.g. if you can ask "what is the temperature", or create routines depending on it. On itead site they claim that it should work with Google, but I don't have it myself to test and I haven't found anyone who tried that yet.

    • @csongorvarga

      @@DidyshishBaishushish Sorry, I was not correct last time. I looked into this. I can see the ZB temp sensor in Google Home, I can ask what the temperature is, but it cannot be used for anything. Google Home routines start on voice command, or time/sunset/sunrise. Nothing else. You cannot set up a routine on a device state/event.

    • @DidyshishBaishushish
      @DidyshishBaishushish 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@csongorvarga OK, thank you! Yes, Google Home is not a "smart home hub" per se, so it has only such limited possibilities.
      It is annoying that TH10-16, despite having temperature sensor, cannot be usedas both sensor and relay in more complicated scenes in eWeLink - e.g. I would like to have daytime and nighttime temperatures set to different levels, but that is not possible with single TH (ok, I know that ZigBee temp sensor + Basic ZigBee costs the same as TH16+Basic WiFi ;) )
      BTW, I recently had Sonoff Basic to burn out while powering car preheater (2000W max), so from now on I will use Sonoff relays just to trigger high power rating contactors...

    • @csongorvarga
      @csongorvarga  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DidyshishBaishushish Yes I agree with both. Basic have a 10A relay, so 2000W is almost at its limit. So I am not surprised. POW has a 15A relay, I think that would suite the heater much better. And yes TH10-16 is very limited by software.
