  • Mr David left USA for Rwanda after coming up with Harmony Village 100. A concept he developed with his brother Chris
    They decided to settle in Rwanda and invest in Broiler chicken farming. This venture has grown and they have fully modernized their farm. They have imported their own Parent Stock , built a modern Hatchery and as well an Abattoir.
    Harmony village 100 is a company where investors join and they fund small holder farmers.

    Why spending $10 million on this type of farm? I think we need to stop exaggerating on unnecessarily, things like this could discourage many people venturing into agriculture and could also make people feel they have to break the bank 🏦 to make a startup. All money spent on that farm is not up to half a million dollar. I wish them best of luck

      It depends on who is investing. I most African countries, it's very expensive for a foreigner to invest that it is for a local person. By foreigner I mean one who is not domiciled in that particular place. You find that a foreigner spends 800usd for a service that a local can get for only 100usd, so it's possible that he spent all that much on that farm.

      @Olisepazed I don't think he is looking for them in particular. He is a poultry expert and as part of the show he gives advice so that everyone can learn. You could be in the same line of business and could unknowingly be making the same mistakes and you wouldn't learn anything by watching this if it was all rosy. These videos aren't just about entertainment they are about educating farmers while showcasing African ingenuity. He also does give the guy props for what he is doing right.

      It's very important to correct them on their mistakes. As you heard, the owner admitted inexperience on their part so it's only normal that they receive the right advice in other not to lose a lot of their investment.

  • @benbo7042

    Seems a huge project. My advice will be scale down a littje bit to enable you to spend time to know all the nitty gritty (in and out ) of taking care of the birds then as your experience and know-how grows, you can then begin to upgrade gradually in terms of increasing then number of birds, etc. Mistakes will be made along the way as a beginner and the bigger the business is the bigger the loss( financially ) from the mistakes. The smaller the business is the smaller the loss ( financially) .

    • @muchit3629
      @muchit3629 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@benbo7042 Wise advice. Not everyone has a business mindset. Actually the biggest mistake most people make is they put all their hens in one basket. For example, someone can come to a potential investor and say her invest $250K in 5 apartments for very good Air BnB business. A fool with $250K may invest it all at once but someone wise would at least start with one or two and see if the business model actually pans out. Losing 20 or 40% of your capital is way better than losing 100%. Very sound advice, but again is if someone has unlimited capital then they can always go full throttle but those with limited means need to be aware not to get too excited as that is a good way to lose a shirt. If the investment is as good as it sounds on paper, you can always scale up once the concept has been proven profitable. Never let greed drive your decision making.
