conor and i are the same age. i've been listening to him since i was 19 and i feel like we've grown up together. his music has always been there for me and it still is. love you bud.
playingforbritain yeah van morrisons 'saw you from a foreign window' he's definitely chanelling here, pretty sure he's a fan as there's a few van like tracks he has
I saw a crash on the interstate It left a feeling I could not shake Just a name in a database who must be notified It's not a phone call I wanna make A stranger answers, I hesitate Got some bad news that couldn't wait Are you sitting down? Her bathrobe hangs on the bedroom door Though she's been dead for a year or more He buried her by the sycamore So that he could keep her close It broke his heart and it made him old Tries to rebuild but it just erodes Some people say that's the way it goes But he don't feel that way Get too drunk and you can't perform Something dies when a star is born I spread my anger like Agent Orange I was indiscriminate Yeah, I met Lou Reed and Patti Smith It didn't make me feel different I guess I lost all my innocence Way too long ago She called my bluff and she won the fight I ran outside in the hot twilight I had a lighter that didn't light Well I know I shouldn't smoke I was gone, I was free to leave Walking fast down the Bowery Tears in my eyes so I couldn't see But I made my way back home
why is it ugly? its true, this is nothing more the Conor Oberst being himself. jamming out, its beautiful and no nonsense. i agree there is something cool about some sweet new art work. im a media art major in collage. but the cover it says volumes about the album.
Lord of Mush yes. it's a beautiful cover. this album was recorded in Conor's living room. written and recorded alone in his home after discovering a cyst in his brain. He was not intending to release these versions of the songs.. But friends that he first showed these songs to all encouraged him to release the raw stripped down versions as well. knowing all of that makes the tracks and the album cover even more beautiful, I think.
Woooow.... Thanks for explaining this on here, I didn't know this despite having listened to this album quite a few times. This totally explains why I feel this album is superior in many aspects to Salutations.

Chris Santos, what then? by sharing? cash?
If you like an artist and want them to keep making music... pay em. Buy an album, go see them play live, tell your friends.
One of America’s greatest living storytellers.
I just heard this for the first time today and I swear I've already listened to it about forty times
I cry everytime I listen to Conor's music. It hits a place deep inside me no other music has.
This album is beyond great. The writing, production, etc. it's emotion and this is the gem on the collective work.
So excited to see him in February
conor oberst is a god among men.
What an awesome sound! A truly brilliant songwriter!

I saw a crash on the interstate
It left a feeling I could not shake
Just a name in a database who must be notified
It's not a phone call I wanna make
A stranger answers, I hesitate
Got some bad news that couldn't wait
Are you sitting down?
Her bathrobe hangs on the bedroom door
Though she's been dead for a year or more
He buried her by the sycamore
So that he could keep her close
It broke his heart and it made him old
Tries to rebuild but it just erodes
Some people say that's the way it goes
But he don't feel that way
Get too drunk and you can't perform
Something dies when a star is born
I spread my anger like Agent Orange
I was indiscriminate
Yeah, I met Lou Reed and Patti Smith
It didn't make me feel different
I guess I lost all my innocence
Way too long ago
She called my bluff and she won the fight
I ran outside in the hot twilight
I had a lighter that didn't light
Well I know I shouldn't smoke
I was gone, I was free to leave
Walking fast down the Bowery
Tears in my eyes so I couldn't see
But I made my way back home
Where can I donate, Conor?
The suicide hotline? Anyone who listens to this album all the way through will probably need it.
Son of a Bitch made me cry
Very Neil Youngish ❤
