This is the Rachel that I recognize, lyrics and vocals that are pure and relatable. I saw you in Denver in concert, at the VIP meet I told you the Universe sent me. I used that trip from AK to organize a family reunion. 30 yrs since the 5 siblings were together. Replicated a photo of the last time minus our Mother. Was a great weekend. Since then I've lost a sister and a brother, having seen them in the near past made the loss somewhat less. You Rachel are the only reason I had the gift of seeing them. You fixed my heart when I found you, Your lyrics, your voice, your music fundamentally changed my priorities. This is a beautiful song but I can’t believe my estranged bio mom thought it was appropriate to ignore my existence and then send me this song out of the blue. Love the song, but discovering it through the woman who abandoned me kinda hurts tbh
Edit: she has been trying to come back into my life and I’ve been trying to let her but it’s hard. I’ve forgiven her, I don’t hate her and the little girl in me still wants a relationship but it’s hard. I barely know her and I can’t forget all the hurt she and her husband have caused. I know she loves me, anyone can see it; she quit smoking and drinking and she’s found god. Words can’t explain how uncertain I am about having a relationship with her but I’m trying.
Just means that she's been thinking about you for years and years. What she's done to you is known, and she battles with her mistakes every day. She just has no idea how to say sorry or how to express her feelings and thoughts. It's probably a battle between her having zero right to ever step into your life after what she's done vs should she ever try. Maybe it's different than all of that, but I can imagine a terrible struggle with past mistakes like that.
I'm sorry girl. Maybe that was her way of reaching out. At least I hope so.
