Hello, I have a question regarding the histogram in Darktable. When I want to correct the exposure so that the information is distributed evenly, let's say that the brightest area reaches the right end of the histogram, the result is a tremendous overexposure. It's as if the right limit of the histogram was located before where it should be. This doesn't happen to me in other programs and I end up setting the exposure based on mere assumption.
That is the default and usually works... the display profile can also come in to play in certain circumstances. There is something set up wrong if the display is blown before the histogram is all the way to the right...There are some old edits that get messed up in 4.8 when using filmic but I don't think that is what they are seeing
A well explained treatise for the mathematically challenged amongst us. Thank you. Looking forward to the next.
Thanks Berny!
Another interesting set of videos on the workings of Darktable. I'm always watching them again and again. Thanks.
Thank you Graham!
Very interesting. I like these dissection sessions.
Thanks Eigil!

What do you have set as your histogram profile...this can alter your perception of the data vs what you see on the display
I have my histogram set to work profile. I can check using the over/under exposition warning (shortcut o). I have no such problems...
