One of the best and to the point videos I've seen on this topic. And the succinct commentary say the end was on point! It's a shame that so many people who barely know Hebrew at all, if at all, remain so confident about the pronunciation of the Name despite what 99.99999% of scholars and people fluent in Hebrew say. And yes, I'm fluent in Hebrew and proficient in 2nd Temple period Aramaic and intermediate Arabic. I'm aware I don't know everything, but when it comes to pronunciation of the Name there really isn't any debate among people who know Hebrew and other Semitic languages. And no, Nehemiah didn't find anything people didn't already know. He's a smart guy, but the fluff about 'discovering' the vowels of the Name is a huge exaggeration. No one fluent in Hebrew who reads ancient Jewish literature considers the vowel points of the Name Nehemiah talks about to be some new discovery. Perhaps it's the ancient pronunciation, but likely not for reasons many have already explained, and even if it is, he didn't discover these vowels. It's common knowledge.

The Hebrew name of God יְהֹוָה
When taken as individual Paleo Hebrew symbols the four letters in God's name יְהֹוָה have the following meanings:
    Yod (Yodh) = Hand
    Hey (He) = Behold
    Vav (Waw) = Nail
    Hey (He) = Behold
When read in English from left to right, it says:

Psychology of the Ancient Hebrews is very different from our own and when we read the Bible we must learn to read it from the Hebrew's perspective rather than our own.
When we use a word like "name," we focus in on how it is written and pronounced.
I will tell of thy name to my brethren; in the midst of the congregation I will praise thee. (Psalm 22:23)
What does it mean to "tell someone about another's name?" Does it mean to tell others how to write or pronounce the name? From a Western perspective yes, but from a Hebraic perspective a name is much more than its pronunciation; it is the character of the individual, his ethics, workmanship, attitude, dependability, resourcefulness, compassion, honor, etc. When the Bible teaches us to "tell others the name of Yahweh," it isn't telling us to teach others how to write or pronounce it correctly; it is telling us to teach Yahweh's character

Using the concept you are providing, what quality of character can we extrapolate from “I Am that I Am”? Is there much description of character in this phrase, other than maybe the sense of eternity? The other names of God do express some specific characteristics, or actions of God. Provider, healer, etc. But what does “I Am that I Am” tell us?

Yahweh is not the name of the G-d of Israel. It is forbidden to write the Name or to speak it except by the High Priest. יהוה represents the Name but not its pronunciation. This is because it could be desecrated by some enemy burning a Torah Scroll. The Name hasn't been spoken since the Romans destroyed Jerusalem in 70CE. Since there are no vowels in the Torah, we no longer know how to pronounce the Name. The Tanach, prayer books and other Jewish books have vowels for showing people how to pronounce words who don't understand Hebrew as their first language. The word יהוה has different combinations of vowels to show the past, present or future tense to show how it should be understood in the verses it is used in. Anyone fluent in Hebrew does not need any vowels because they already know what the words are and how to pronounce them. This is why everything printed in Israeli newspapers and magazines are missing vowels. We Jews say Adonai when saying the word when reading it or when praying in in our synagogues. We use the word Ha Shem, the Name, every where else. Who should no more about this or anything concerning Judaism than the Jewish people. We are the people G-d revealed himself in person to and chose to bring the knowledge of him and what he wants to the nations of the world.

What you said is a crucial theological statement, understanding G-d, His nature, character, and knowing Him personally, is far more important than knowing how to pronounce His name. More folks are looking deeper into our Father, the GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Clearly, history and science have not been handled and distributed honestly to the people. So one can assume that Father's word has also been a victim of dishonest handling. I do trust my old King James Version. The Cepher is a really good source that I wish I'd known about sooner. They changed the calendar and names and gave Messiah an Italian face. Scripture says we are to study to show ourselves approved. Yahuah's only begotten son is Yahusha, the Christ. GOD'S seven appointed feasts are the true holidays. Shabbat and the commandments are to be guarded while living in the grace of Messiah. Jesus said the gates of Hell would not prevail against His church. So, the church He founded has not been corrupted, it is not hiding the name of God and the doctrine is all available to anyone who seeks it. Who "gave Him an Italian face"? What does that even mean? Jesus was most likely olive-skinned, but do you actually believe He cares about what our thoughts are on His skin tone while on Earth? This is exactly my point; you people focus on stuff that is not important. And no, we are not to keep all the feasts, because Christ fulfilled them. If you celebrate Yom Kippur, you're saying Jesus wasn't a sacrifice worthy of covering all your sins. Looks like you still have quite a bit to learn.

The Hebrew word SHUA in the name YAHUSHUA means 'salvation', hence YHWH is salvation or YHWH saves, will save See matityahu 1:21.
The word SHUA (one of the two elements of the name YAHU + SHUA) comes from the verb yasha (ישע), which means to save, deliver, rescue.
of course i know Isaiah! As a matter of fact, the Hebrew name of the OT evangelist has the two elements of the Messiah's name, only viceverse!
Etymology of the name Yeshayahu (ישעיהו). From (1) the verb ישע (yasha'), to save, and (2) יה(ו) (yah(u)), the name of YHWH (the Lord). Same meaning: Yah Is Salvation.

    1. Is "HE" pronounced "HEY" as in, "Hey, you!" Or is it pronounced "HEH," like a short scoffing sound? I've heard it pronounced either way, and I've always believed the "HEY" pronunciation was an American idiosyncrasy, like saying "PAY-DROE" instead of the Hispanic pronunciation, "PEH-DROH."
    2. Don't the Tetragrammaton square script/ideograms (is that what they're called?) YOHD HEH WAW/VAV HEH also represent "NAIL, BEHOLD, HAND, BEHOLD," which translate to, "Behold the hand, behold the nail?"
I will be subscribing since I am very interested in the language of my Lord and Savior.
    Thank you.

Shalom Ayelet. I read from my ebook bible, in Exodus 3:14-15, the word “God“ is “Elohim“ instead of “Adonay“. It confuses me. Which one should be correct in the text? And what are their differneces? But surely I know your gist of this video-dont think too much about the name because God is so much more than names. We just have to know God's words. However, I just wanted to know whether my apps went a bit astray and have to download another more proper hebrew-English ebook bible. Thanks a lot.❤

Shalom, Yes, in Ex. 3:14 the word is “Elohim” which is simply the Hebrew word for “God” (or “gods”). In Ex. 3:14 GOD is answering Moses.
The word “ADONAI” could be used as a replacement for the NAME of God, יהוה YHWH or LORD, but could also be used to mean Adonai as in “My Lord”.

In the Septuagint, which is a Greek translation of the Hebrew text created a couple hundred years before Jesus and used extensively by The apostle Paul, Exodus 3:14 has God answering Moses, "I am the Being."
The word translated "being" is a present participle verb used as a noun.
Consider this: Moses came from Egypt where there were thousands of gods, all of them named. When Moses asked this God what his name was, his answer had something of the meaning of "I am the existing one" or "I am the one who is".

I am a believer in Yeahua. I grew up going to both trinitarian and non- trinitarian churches. I for one have never believed in the trinity. I at one point believed that Jesus was Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. But I saw the error in that theology. I still wasn't convinced of the trinity but was questioning it.
I remember one day I was in prayer and thought to myself, 'If I could ask God any question I would ask him, are you one, or are you trinity?" I felt foolish just thinking that question. However, God did answer me.
He gave me in my mind Moses at the burning Bush asking God what his name was to give to the children of Israel. He said. I AM THAT I AM. As those words still fresh in my mind. I just stood there just repeating that fraise. And the epiphany! I understood it.
Are you 1? I AM THAT I AM. Are you a trinity? I AM THAT I AM. Are you many ? I AM THAT I AM! He is bigger than oneness. He's bigger than the trinity. People believe in one or the other because that is what our feeble minds can only comprehend.
People say you can't put God in a box. But we put him in boxes. A box of oneness. Or a box of the trinity. But that day. Any box and all boxes were completely and forever shattered to trillions of pieces that can never be reconstructed.
I am not a trinitarian. I am not a oneness Jesus only. I believe God is. unfathomable. Unmeasurable. I don't have the words to describe Him. I do believe that he is a multidimensional Spirit. But beyond that I couldn't describe it.
About the Son. Yeahua is the Son of God. He is the Son of Man. He is Not God. He came from the Father just as he said. He is Lord because the Father sanctified him, anointed him and gave him all authority placing everything under his feet. Expect God himself. Yeahua is not just a good man, or just a prophet. He is the literal human Son of God!

    The Name Theory [יהוה]
I have a theory as to why this is so. It's partly inspired by Ayelet.
It's a valid question to ponder how and why the God of all things created, permitted His name to be verbally forgotten throughout the centuries, despite its spelling and letters still being known to us today. Keep in mind that I believe the verbal pronunciation has been willingly “permitted”, rather than “allowed”. The subtle difference between "permitted" and "allowed" lies in their connotations. "Permitted" tends to imply a more deliberate or conscious act of authorization, suggesting a decision made with consideration or permission granted. On the other hand, "allowed" is more general and may imply a less deliberate or conscious act, simply indicating that something was not prevented or prohibited, by which I believe was not the case.
“The Elohim of Israel permitted his name to be verbally forgotten concerning its proper pronunciation.”
But, why? Interestingly, He did not allow this with His word, which, if anything, should have, considering it had over 40 authors and was written over thousands of years. It survived only through preemptive scribal work and human preservation methods, all without a missing scroll within its divinely intended closed canon (library). I now like to refer to this library as a "Divine word spoken to Israel [for Israel and the nations]."
My theory concludes with Professor Carmen Imes's work and a simple acknowledgment of Exodus 3:14-15. Having heard of her first on the One For Israel podcast, then her being present on the Bible Project podcast regarding “taking the Name in vain”; she understands its meaning as how people who bore the Name should live and act in the world, rather than the focus on its pronunciation or usage as coarse language (which, in my and her opinion, should also be avoided as it would undermine the responsibility of our keeping His Name holy before nations and people-groups). Since the Torah supports this perspective on taking the Name in vain (for further study, refer to "Taking God's Name in Vain? - feat. Dr. Carmen Imes" on the Podcast app), the fact that its pronunciation is lost does not negate the relevance of this commandment's practical application. There is a responsibility for everyone in covenant with the Elohim of Israel, As Paul (quoting from the Tanakh) in 2 Timothy says, “let anyone who names the name of the LORD depart from iniquity”, seeing that there were men who boasted in the Law in some regard, while also dishonoring it by simultaneously breaking it through their infidelity in other regards. For, as it was written to such Yehudi’s, “The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”
Only in this way was the commandment concerning the Name, originally understood by the ancients who received it.
Regarding my final point, I referred to Exodus 3:14-15 (read from TLV). My theory aligns with Ayelet's. His Name, like all other names within the Hebrew Bible, is poetic in nature, albeit physically given. They convey one's destiny or purposeful placement. Specifically within the Biblical narrative, they delineate characters' placement, a predisposed disposition given by God, the circumstances they encounter, or their character, nature, or future outcomes. The same applies to God. His Name signifies existence itself, pointing to His nature, character, purposeful intentions, showing us how true glory and beauty are recognized in our witness of Him maintaining His loyal and faithful integrity, to keeping the reputation of His own Name.
Additionally, the subsequent verse emphasizes that what WILL BE REMEMBERED is that this One, ‘who is who He is’, will be known by all people of a times as the God of Israel's fathers-Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob! He declared this as His name forever, the chosen name by which He Himself selected to be remembered from generation to generation. Verse 15 alone resolves the inquiry into why He would permit the verbal pronunciation of His name to be forgotten while ensuring His word remains heard. It's through His word that His name is comprehended, not necessarily pronounced. His character is much more important than the pronociatjon of his name, by which He foreseen those with misguided zeal concerning its pronunciation while those same people dishonor the Name by the fruit of their lives. He’s not giving points for pronouciation. He’s granted righteousness to those with faith in Yeshua.
Thus, refer to Him as He Himself has declared He wishes to be remembered, while keeping in mind that the God of Israel’s nature, character and consistency is revealed to those who call on Him in spirit and truth. Those insisting on using a particular name will face rebuke for disregarding His wishes out of misguided zeal.

It will depend who you ask, lol 😉 It is very possible that in the ancient Hebrew the sound of the letter “ו” (vav), was closer to the sound of “w” than a “v”. But this view also have several issues with it. My view is that we just can’t know, but if I had to choose, I would use “YHWH”, while keeping in mind that it might not be a correct representation.

Sorry, but this is just one perspective/opinion of pronunciation/history of the name 'god' (why are we still using the name 'god'? Do you know where and how this term 'god' originated? The term 'god' first originated with the Germans who used this title for their supreme being Odin. Some say the Germans stole this term from the people of India who used this title for their supreme being. Ancient, Medieval, & Modern Jews or Messianic Followers of Yehoshua don't use, have never used, and/or shouldn't use the term 'god', 'lord', or even 'Adonai'. Adonai was a term utilized by Hellenistic Jews after the greek 'goddess' Adonis. 'Lord' is an English title for the England's kings, high ranking knights, etc. Some scholars believed that the term 'lord' originated from the supreme Canaanite being 'Baal'). Here is another perspective:
In SH'MOT 6:3, Our Creator stated His name and its' pronunciation: Yud-Heh-Waw-Heh (some say Yud-Heh-Vav-Heh) or Yahweh. According to several Messianic Jewish Scholars, the pronunciation of Yahweh's name was never lost. It was forbidden by Antiochus IV who invaded Jerusalem in his attempt to destroy the Jewish people either through the sword or by conversion to Hellenism. Shabbat was outlawed. Yahweh's name was forbidden to speak. Therefore, Jewish leaders created the title HaShem (the Name) in order to still worship Yahweh. However, after the Maccabees regain control of the Temple and Jerusalem, the Jewish Leaders refuse to go back to utilizing the Name that they were given in SH'MOT 6:3. Instead, they built a 'fence around the Torah' called the 'Oral Law' (Mishnah, Talmud, early stages of Rabbinic Judaism, etc). This 'fence' /Oral Law also included 'protecting' Our Creator's Name (this fence was never commanded by Yahweh).

As a Bible believing Jew, Nehemiah Gordon promotes what is called the Qere Perpetuum (look it up) which the Masoretes created to protect and to guard the Tetragrammaton from abuse. As a Jew he is commanded to do that. Jews do not want non-Jews to use that name. Therefore, He teaches the Gentiles to use the defective vowel points.
Nehemiah Gordon gave Michael Rood a map that shows the location of rabbis that promote the defective pronunciation "Yehovah" but it is a map of European Ashkenazim Jews and it completely avoids Yemenite Jews. This is important because Yemenite Jews will tell you the truth. I found some back in the 1980s and they told me the truth.
Don't make the big mistake of thinking that Nehemiah Gordon is a born again New Testament believer.

Most assuredly, I tell you, if a person keeps my word, he will never see death." Then the Yehudim said to him, "Now we know that you have a demon. Avraham died, and the prophets; and you say, 'If a man keeps my word, he will never taste of death.' Are you greater than our father, Avraham, who died? The prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?" Yeshua answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is our God. You have not known him, but I know him. If I said, 'I don't know him,' I would be like you, a liar. But I know him, and keep his word. Your father Avraham rejoiced to see my day. He saw it, and was glad." The Yehudim therefore said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Avraham?" Yeshua said to them, "Most assuredly, I tell you, before Avraham came into existence, I AM."

I agree that our God isn't petty , but if we can know His Name properly ,I believe it also honours Him. Young folks are studying to show themselves approved and learning the Hebrew names. The Cepher is a good source. A TH-cam channel called Kingdom in context, keeps being harassed and TH-cam censored them. They are young folk getting to know our Father beyond the milk that most churches teach. We are to grow and take on the meat of the word, as scripture says. They are also guarding the commandments and celebrating YAH's feasts instead of man's holidays that blend pagan stuff with our Saviors truth. I'm learning so much at such an old age. Young ones seem to be leading the way. PARABLE OF THE VINYARD, is another TH-cam channel of young folk praising Yahuah in Yahusha's name. They get persecuted alot as well. 🕯🌾📜

It was from a strong male voice and Instead of cowering like the first time I was open to listen but nothing else happened. Now I’m hearing the Hey sound when spelling this name of God with two Hey sounds. I have no idea but I thought it was interesting. Not only that… another thing happened to me and where we live. A Gog of Magog Genocide!
The syllables Ha-lle-lu-yah or “Halleluyah” were in use by the Muskogee and Algonquin-speaking nations of the east and southeast coast before colonists. There are two independent recorded instances where the word Halleluyah was in use in Native towns that had never encountered Europeans. Thomas Thorowgood(1) in the 1650s recorded Halleluyah and other syllables similar to the Tetragrammaton in use by the Powhatan. One hundred years later, James Adair(2) made the same observations while living for 40 years in Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Creek towns in the 1700s.
Thorowgood had encountered with the Native Tetragrammaton variations. Vocables are a combination of syllables that are themselves compositions of the same core group of syllables; Yah, Weh, Yo, Heh, Wah, Ha, Ho, Hoi. It is interesting however that the names for God between these two geographically separated groups are similar. Yoweh sounds like a variation of Yahweh. Yo-he-wah sounds like a variation of Je-ho-vah. And Muskogee Yah, is analogous to the use of Yah in Hebrew. All three of those vocable sets are names for God in Muskogee and Tsalagi, just as their counterparts in Hebrew are names for God. As for the origin of the word Halleluyah in Native towns beyond the frontier in Adair’s life, in places that had never encountered a European, is history lost to genocide and time.

Technically, what you put forward in that comment doesn’t itself demonstrate that Jesus is the Father, just that Jesus is YHWH. There are many passages from the Psalms and Prophets that also can be used to demonstrate that Jesus is YHWH.
The Father may be YHWH, the Son may be YHWH as well, but that does not mean that the Son is the Father, although they are One. God’s personal name, YHWH, then may either refer to both the Father and the Son or possibly the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit too. Although, I’m not aware of any Scriptural evidence that explicitly suggests that the Holy Spirit is YHWH, there is evidence that the Holy Spirit is a unique person and that the Holy Spirit is God, and since that’s God’s name and there’s only one God then by extension we could infer that YHWH refers to the entire Godhead, which would make sense as that is the fullness of God’s being

That's not entirely correct is it? Re: Ex. 3:14? The Tetragrammaton is nominated as the divine name? Yehovah, perhaps?

Yes, the Tetragrammaton יהוה, is God’s personal name, but we just don’t know and can’t know the original/correct pronunciation of it from the reasons I explain in the video.

The Tetragrammaton is the four HEBREW letters that represent God’s personal name יהוה. When converted into English letters, it can be written as “YHWH” or “YHVH”.
