My siblings aren't Christian while I am. We were having lunch at our parents house to celebrate one of their birthdays and they were all sitting around while I was helping set the table. I was coming over with some stuff and one of them loudly exclaimed so I could hear, "when you really look at the bible you can see how sexist it is." I know she wanted to engage me in a fight and trigger me in anger (because that's how she operates) but instead I decided to pretend I didn't hear what she said and had a polite and happy lunch with my family. I really wanted to contend her on her point since it was blatantly wrong, but I knew it wasn't the time or place and that she wouldn't listen. I hope my calm response and patience for the right timing to talk with her about it will plant some kind of seed within her. Especially since becoming a Christian was one of the most freeing things in the world to me as a woman, especially once I found a good church. Once I found a church with God-fearing (or God-revering) men and women, I wasn't paranoid or tense around the guys I was hanging out with. I wasn't bound by my sensuality or what my body could offer. I wasn't bound in exhausting cyclic banter of 'men vs women'. I wasn't as obsessed with my physical appearance, I put my worth and opinion in a God who loves me no matter what instead of people around me. I wasn't anxious about how the people around me would judge me, and could come to them with my burdens freely. I could openly express myself because I knew we shared the same values. I felt like I didn't have to be as masculine as a man to be valued (as modern feminism speaks of. Being as strong or competent or capable as a man). Instead I began to embrace and feel empowered in my femininity, enjoying feminine clothing, hobbies and innately feminine qualities. It felt like being feminine was valued- even in my job as a civil engineer! Finding God and being part of his church was the most amazing thing I ever did- or that God ever did for me.

The part you said about Christianity relieving you of competing with men or trying to look beautiful in a competition. I like to say my country is plagued with looking beautiful, expensive shopping and lots of people will take bribes and do bad things to get ahead in this materialistic and consumerist race to nowhere. Being rich isn't bad or spending money but when you need 12 clothes every month of 100$ each because you have your friends saw the old ones is a total nonsense to me. Praise Jesus 🙏💓 for guiding you to God.
I am glad you addressed this topic. It is interesting to talk about it, and think about it. Personally I believe that Christianity lifts up both men and women to a higher degree of being human. Women in the early centuries seemed to believe that too. In many households, women were the first to convert, and many men followed them (like the mother of St. Augustin). So, I believe women are valued very much in Christianity. But like I said, it's good that we talk about it. So, thank you!
@@BiblicalBookwormI might add: patriarchy is gynocentric, despite popular contemporary believes. Christianity was always patriarchal because nothing better can be invented, and that's why it should stay patriarchal.
@@Wargulpartal what? Patriarchy is gynocentric? Don't be rediculous. How does that work? Don't conflate women being ones getting pregnant thus having to chose mates carefully with men holding all the power in society.
@@ОксанаЧернохвостенко Christian patriarchy? Of course, it is gynocentric. All human species is. Protection of women was necessary for species survival. Besides, what was new and innovative in christian culture, in opposition to dominant pagan culture at the time, women were no longer a property of a man, as it was in roman collectivist patriarchal familia. Before that, prostitution was everywere, and was extremely cheap. Besides, patriarchy, especially in europe for last centuries, didn't used power over women for merely hurting women, more so to protect them rather. Woman, to defend herself from evil man, usually found protection of good men, usually her family: father, brothers, uncles, other family friends. Patriarchy is and was a system of using their power and authority to protect and to provide sustinence for women and children. This is how patriarchy has been ginocentric.
A womans submission is a ROLE MODEL for her husbands submission to Christ. (And of course this comes back to her in his charge to love her as Christ loved the church....)
I agree with this statement. I should also add I won't submit to them if they aren't doing God's will. If you ask God for wisdom and discernment he will give it to you.
That's right. Any man who tells you to submit to him while he himself doesn't submit to God, is a fake. I was married to such a man. He converted me to Christianity, even enlisting several of his friends to push me to go to church. He said he loved Jesus, but he abused me severely, and always accused me of not being submissive. But I was the one who always went to church alone, while he went out with his friends. I will never be with a man like that again. A man has to lead by example.
Without law or constraint, women are completely powerless against men. Christianity recognizes this and teaches restraint against our base instincts, desires and capabilities. This is why Christianity was/is popular amongst women.
Its popular in the West because our culture has sanitized Christianity with enlightenment values like equality and freedom of speech. Christianity in the Middle East, or Africa is very different from Christianity in Europe or the Americas. If you read the Bible, front to back, on your own; you will find all the mistreatment of women, both described and prescribed.
Only when you selectively read passages. If you are complete with your reading, it actually becomes clear that men endure greater responsibility, greater duties and, greater self sacrifice.
Which is why in turn they are the head. Honor is equal to duty in many ways. I do agree with you though. In the same passage where wives are called to submit and respect their husbands, husbands are called to return Christs love which included death well verse 21 also calls men to submit too. Respect doesn't seem like much when compared with death, but it brilliant as being willing to die for respect is an innate part of male psychology.
@@viperstriker4728 my priest asked the question recently, who has the toughest job. I believe men do. We are called to be both. Therefore, as men fulfilling all of the characteristics of being submissive but, in charge as well is a difficult path to tread.

@@BiblicalBookworm a man has to be the husband to his wife and the wife to Jesus as members of the bride. He has to be all things in different contexts.
@@BiblicalBookworm Agreed, we all weight the sacrifices we make more when comparing ourselves with others. I think this is why Jesus death was such so tragic. None of us can claim we have it worse in life then what Jesus suffered. That makes it a little silly when we compare our sacrifices like this.
A lot depends on the perspective of the word "submit" and "serve", two "bad" words in today's culture. But as a Christian man, I'm called to submit to all kinds of authorities over me, not least of all being church authorities, and to serve my family. I consider both a privilege and a blessing. When I submit to elders and pastors, I'm not being inferior, I'm being guided and protected by people God has placed over me.
Just remember that Ephesians does not say that you're the boss or that you get the final say in decisions. It does say that you are to submit to your wife (submit to one another, Ephesiand 5:21) and are to love your wife as Christ loves the church.
Christianity maintains the divine hierarchy between men and women by emphasizing that to lead is to serve. St. Paul’s words regarding men being the “head” of women should be understood as a call for men to serve God by leading their wives rightly, in the sense that leadership itself is a form of service. This concept should not be seen, as some contemporary feminists might suggest, as a form of oppression. Instead, the biblical text has always upheld a balance that both recognizes equality between the sexes (in terms of human dignity) and the distinct roles that men and women are called to fulfill. “But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant,” Matthew 20:26 ~ Jesus Edit: For those that are confused, This is not to say that women don’t also serve their husbands, but rather that husbands and wives serve each other, with men filling the role of leader, as St. Paul says in Ephesians 5:21. I know I properly struck a balance when both atheists feminist and tradcons are mad at me 🤣.
This is the correct interpretation!! Husbands are called to love and lead their wives as Christ did the Church (Ephesians 5:25; a few verses down from "submit to your husbands". Meaning serve, but lead (spiritually), and essentially lay down your life for them.
@@Wargulpartal Equal as it pertains to humanity dignity. Hierarchical as it pertains to the role men and women are called fulfill. It’s not mutually exclusive.
@@Artisan_GenZ That's something feminists easily gets wrong: in real life there is no place for egalitarism, and yet that doesn't have to lead to harmful oppression, as long as the hierarchy is based on competence and not on violence. But feminists take all hierarchies as exercise of "control and power" understood as "violence". Because feminists cannot look at the world and history otherwise than as neverending continuation of "power, control and oppression". That's why feminists has not even a fraction of trust towards men, they never accept men authority over a woman, in any way, but yet they celebrate all and any case of woman dominating a man. One may call it "hypocritical', I call it "evil logic". If there is nothing else than power, then to gain power is the only sense and only ethic value. And feminists only sees and seeks power. Feminism was never about equality, just power and control.
It is unjust and wicked for Christian men to be expected to sacrifice themselves for their wives and children (Eph 5), while their wives refuse to submit to and obey their husbands. Additionally, St. Paul and St. Peter where not joking that the wife's salvific realm is the home and childrearing. Again, it is a grave injustice to hold men accountable for working to care for their families and even die for them while allowing wives to neglect their God designed role as mother and helper to her husband. This is the great sin of the modern era and weakens the church.
Since I converted, I never felt so loved before as I feel now by God. I feel free when I'm close to Him, I feel valuable, like a jewel, but not as an object, but precious. I feel like I have a eternal loving and caring Father who sees in me the best version of myself. And if my Father made me for a greater purpose than I can plan, and if it is His will for me to get married, it will have to be a trustworthy man who sees me as my Father in Heaven does, and if this kind of man, a true man of God, a fearful and loving man of God came to me, I would gladly submit to him, because I want that reliability, I want to put my trust on him, because I would know that where he goes, there will be no deception, for he loves my Father before myself, and he follows in the footsteps of Jesus, my savior.
Another verse that might have been relevant to this discussion is Galatians 3:28 - "There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
Indeed, that means that women should be feminist (ignoring the common and expected behavioral patterns that biblical females displayed). Likewise, that means that male or female doesn't exist and therefore +1 point for the alphabet warriors. Congratulations! He talks about the law, faith, and baptism. In the context of being baptized in Christ (coming into agreement with his sacrifice, accepting, and submitting oneself under that authority), we are all one unit (equal). In that context and under that banner. It is quite possible for people to have equal values in a bank account and still have variance outside of that context. Biblical example: Not all will have the same authority in Heaven. Wholesale equality is a delusion unless you are doing math. There is no biblical dei.

Regarding the verses from ephesians 5, I believe that Paul addresses husbands that they are to love their wives like Christ loved the church, and he addresses wives with the submit to your husband. The issue comes in when the husband tris to enforce the submission, or the wife tries to enforce the love. Each party has their own responsibility they need to attend to. As a man, I need to focus on what I am called to in a marriage, not what my wife(hopefully I get married someday) should do.
@@Himmiefan but there is a hierarchy tho, it’s all about not abusing the “power” or “authority” given to u/u have based on your hierarchy. But I do get your overall message
Something i like to bring up is a verse in ephesians. Men are supposed to love their wives as Jesus loves the church. Jesus died for his church. He had a sacrificial love. That means I am called to have a sacrificial love for my wife. As men, we need to be ready and willing to lay down our very lives for our wives.
Unfortunately if you look at the entirety of what Paul wrote there, you find a false teaching. That is, a husband being over his wife. I have a post on this should you wish it
Jesus did sacrifice for the church. But he also left commands for the church. He fulfilled both responsibility and authority that leadership entails. If I am to love my wife like Jesus loved the church, I am to BOTH sacrifice AND direct.
You opened the video by saying "the Bible seems misogynistic". That is largely a recent perspective. People in general, and women, in particular, in past centuries didn't agree. So the interesting question is "what happened in recent decades to make this new idea that the Bible is 'misogynistic' so popular?". The answer is likely to tell more about the recent generation's ideals rather than reflect any particularly anti-woman bias in the scriptures.

The question of who retains love longer is posed close to the end. It DOES work vice versa because a relationship requires BOTH sides to love another, therefore women must love their husbands, and men serve their wives. I don't know who hurt you, I don't know what woman cheated on you, I don't know why you think the way you do, but I can tell you, women can be and are loyal, even without Christianity. I hope that you find a godly woman, who loves you deeply and means it when she says til death do us part. In the mean time, read Jane Austen. 1:26 context matters. This was written to a specific group of women. Around the time this was written there were some women reaking havic in the church. Paul wasn't saying all women are to be silent.
Yet, in no less than 3 instances in 1 Timothy, we see Paul referencing Genesis 3. Which would be to say that he is making reference to core foundational truths, regarding the human condition - which hold true in all cultural circumstances. The instruction is relevant to women in churches today, however, "silent" is perhaps a bad translation; "quiet" is a better word. Which is to say, women aren't called to be completely silent but rather to be gentle, gracious, and not quarrelsome or being caught up on controversy. Within Christian circles woman have an important and highly visible role to play in ministry - but the fundamental nature of that ministry is that her good deeds ought to be louder than her words. The key rationale that Paul gives is the nature of sin, in the garden of Eden; making reference to the woman's deception - and in doing so making general application to all women. Because, when Paul says: "it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman who was deceived". He is providing a fundamental insight into the sinfulness of MEN and WOMEN - and a lesson in how these differ. - Eve sinned, desiring to do good - whilst in a state of deception, and so did evil. - Adam sinned, knowing what was good - but through weakness and failure of leadership - failed to act upon it. And, if you're willing to be perfectly honest, this same pattern of sin hold true today... As deception is not a pre-requisite for a man's sinfulness - in quite the same was as it is for a woman. Men are rarely deceived; they are instead lazy.
@@BenjaminPitkin Paul cannot make doctrine, only Christ can do that. Did Christ make this point about the creation order? No. Then these verses are not for all time but is a situation that Paul was confronting right then. In this case, Paul was confronting teachings of the cult of Diana that were infiltrating the church. The women at that time were ignorant of true teachings because their culture forbid them to be taught, so of course, they could not lead or teach. Paul did say for them to learn - and that was radically pro-female. As for the creation order, Paul was refuting one the teachings from the cult of Diana. The audience he was directly writing to knew all this.
@@Himmiefan I don't think so. Paul is an Apostle, and was given apostolic authority in his encounter with the risen Christ - you can read about it in Acts chapter 9. If Paul was the Lord's chosen instrument to take his name to the Gentiles, before kings, and to the children of Israel, what grounds do we have to disregard what he says? Now, as it stands your reference to the cult of Diana is hardly endorsement for limiting Paul's teaching strictly to that period of time. As Diana influenced much of Greek mythology, paganism, wicca, and feminism - which in turn pervades modernity and modern secular practices to this very day. Whether you call it "Diana", or "Jezebel", it's actually the same thing. It's about women being fooled into thinking they know best, disregarding the created order, and falling into Satan's trap. Paul's teaching on this matter of church doctrine is just as relevant today as it was then. As the saying goes: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions". The only way for a woman to escape Satan's scheme, is to recognize her own limitation, and encourage the men in her life to lead boldly.
@@TheHylian-fd6fn But I'll explain my joke with a serious undertone just for you: BiblicalBookworm said that Conservative protestant Christians believe that women shouldn't teach, so I answered that I'm both a conservative protestant Christian and that I am glad to have learned from her, which is a seeming contradiction, but it isn't.
I think you can get a better understanding of this subject by not focusing so much on Bible verses and more on Christian culture. The churches (at least in the US) are filled with majority women because the messaging, activities, and even the portrayals of Jesus tend to favor the feminine over the masculine. See "Why Men Hate Going to Church" by David Murrow for a very good discussion. Church culture is also very family- and child-centric, which appeals to women. It's not so much about particular Biblical teaching about submitting, etc. It's about the actual culture of the church. Simply put, it's more interesting and inviting for women than it is for men (on average).
Yet, the vast majority of churches are controlled by men. I do agree though about churches being family-centric. I stopped going because as a single, childless woman, I felt like I didn't belong and wasn't wanted.
I have seen growing up that women involved in Church activities seem to have a form of soft power, in that they kept themselves central and involved in community life in an overt way.
I think the narrative about Mary and Martha, relates less to cultural gender roles and norms, and more to "choosing the best" which is the contemplative life. Monastics lean in this direction, as it orients one towards our eternal destiny, rather than earthward. I think Jesus tells us quite clearly here what He means. Men stay away from modern church because it has become sappy and girly and disgustingly ugly, like a pretend tea party with teddy bears and dolls. Most males want beauty, order, and real dignity. Probably because of feminism. Women are very caring and are emotionally driven, meaning they often care more about social issues than men. Thank you for this video. I found it very informative and it cemented my own Catholic views on women in Christianity. In my own Archdiocese many leadership positions are held by women
As you may know, the Catholic Church is edging toward the ordination of female deacons which will break with two thousand years of tradition. The German bishops are already pushing the church in this direction. This would be another example of how German clergy have led the way into Protestantism. According to St. Paul, older women have the primary responsibility to lead younger women to love their husbands and children being discreet homemakers that are obedient to their husbands so that God's word is not blasphemed (Titus 3:4-5).
This seems bizarre because 90% of the converts I've met all across my travels in California have been men. From what they tell me its the same for them in other places. These circles are mostly Orthodox and Catholic. However this just seems to be where I've seen the largest net increase in men who converted/weren't born into it. Even the retreats in the Sierra Nevadas and Lake Tahoe that host converts and cradles alike (which was basically an unspoken singles event) are mostly men.
I think it's partially contributed to by redpilling and larping (Redeemed Zoomer has talked about this, some young men are Orthodox cause it's cool). However, this is still very good to see.
The bible also says that slaves should obey their earthly Masters and Mistresses so I think its more about respecting a need for structure to allow Gods society to flourish without being cruel to fellow man and women. Teaching obedience is a key part of being able to worship God but conversely also teaching those with earthly aurhority to be kind
It also says that for masters to treat their slaves properly and not abuse them. And slaves are still required to take a day of rest. The Bible gave rights to slaves that other cultures didn't.
Why does the Bible not tell the masters to free their Slaves anyway. A slave is a human without any human right, they're treated like pigs. I'm a Christian and i'm still confessed about this part
@ValadrienLeonhart I think something a lot of people miss is that God can see the entire picture. Just because you make a new law doesn't mean humans change overnight. To end slavery you have to end slavery on a society level and get the masses to agree. Slavery was a huge park of human history. Especially with the Romans. So, 1 nation outlawing slavery isn't going to work. But if you give slaves rights and freedoms through a nation, it makes it a lot easier for other nations to follow suit. It was a gradual change in society. And then, when European and American slavery were eventually ended; it was by Christians with Christian morality. I honestly think that was the goal to change society's heart. Another note is that there is a huge moral difference between giving slaves rights versus outlawing slavery. If you simply give slaves human rights it means they aren't property and give them humanity and dignity. Thus if slavery ever returned, the foundation to push towards ending slavery would already be in place. It's acctuly pretty ingenious. You put in the foundation that slavery is wrong but don't outright say it. So when Humans figure it outbtgey think they thought of it. But nope God was just playing us.
There is a counterpart term to misogyny, which is misandry (disparagement or belittlement or prejudice towards men). The present westernized Christian churches are heavily influenced by the current culture in which, to be blunt, women are elevated and men are ignored. Believe me, those passages you point out (such as 1 Timothy 2-12 re women being silent in church) are NEVER recited in any church I've ever been at. Pastors know their tithing comes from the congregants, leaning generally 2/3 women, so they cater to them. The modern church is lukewarm, as exemplified in the example of the Laodicean church in Revelation 3 (particularly see Rev. 3-16).
Big question is if this has always been the case, that Christianity or church-going was more popular among women than men. However in the past singleness was much less common, so any frequency difference between the sexes could be very subtle. I have read that men like to join hierarchical systems, and most modern churches are very 'flat'. Also men like to join into communities where they get to do stuff, where stuff needs to be built, or initiatives have to be shaped. Most modern churches are already quite settled in their ways, except for new startup churches, which are more popular anong men. Finally, modern churches and Western christianity has followed culture in its over-empathy towards women, and harshness towards men. I have heard plenty of sermons and messages specifically towards and against men and their typical sins. However, if there's ever a message regarding women it's either about how they can be victims, or how they should not give in to fear or peer pressure. The passages about wives submitting are never mentioned, or explained away.
My bet is that it's always been more popular with women. At least in the US, pastors have always complained about the lack of male involvement, even during the revolutionary war.
See an above comment by @GroundZero_US for the passage about "wives submitting". This is the correct interpretation. Also it's good to read the chapter that that verse comes from Ephesians 5 to get better context.
@@alexlewis5365When men make up 40% or less of a congregation, it is on the way to dying. If, however, a church has 50% or more men in the congregation, it will be a growing church evangelizing its community. Additionally, men bring their wives and families. Even if they come without their wives their children usually remain believers far more often than when the mother alone comes with her children. Hence, one of the most effective things a church can do is to affirm godly male leadership. If, however, it focuses on affirming female spiritual leadership it has a self-defeating impact and eventually young women will drift away.
I’ve noticed that secular folks love to discuss Ephesians 5:22-24 and its “misogyny” in its instructions to women, but completely neglect the passage immediately following. The instruction to men is as follows from Ephesians 6:25-33: Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church- for we are members of his body. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery-but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. This is profound! We, as men, are meant to establish a relationship with our wives as Christ did the church, meaning *up to and including death for her sanctity.* I am meant to be entirely self-sacrificing out of my love for her. Marriage between man and woman really is a microcosm of the marriage between Christ and his bride, the Church. Great video!
Well, I have a dad so I feel pretty okay by being loved by the best Father of all. Some say that those with awful father figures have a harder time trusting God who is described as a father.
The thing I like about Jesus' teachings was he basically said learning from him was a higher authority than whatever worldly concepts people were worried about, like serving food, activities on the sabbath, etc. He put spiritual authority higher than worldly concerns, which is something we should all practice.
Men are required to love their wives, while women must respect their husband, a lower standard. Following the Biblical standards, a man must provide and protect and live as an example of Christ who laid down his life for the church. A godly woman should honor and appreciate that kind of man and the liberation it gives her to safely nurture her family and focus on creating a happy home life. Historically, this has been wonderful for women with a faith conscious husband. It's only when women see upholding their part of this social contract do things get twisted, men feel free to equally drop their responsibilities and no one feels their needs are met. Given our society where both genders often are only give lip service to the Bible, the form of traditional roles without the spirit to give it life has selfishness in practice make it unappealing to those outside the faith who see both genders upset about their rights but apathy towards their responsibilities.
@@BiblicalBookworm While submitting is hard for women, they do get to chose the person they allow to have that authority over them. The Christ conscious man bears the weight of both making the right choice, but to do so knowing God judges his motives. He also has to be strong enough to reject the wife he loves when he clearly sees she is wrong and risk upsetting her. If there isn't a maturity in the woman she may be happy to let the man make all the choices they agree on so she can say I told you so when he fails to make the right call.
I'd not say expect is a "lower standard". Instead, both - for men to love their wives and wives in turn to respect their husbands - is the HARDEST thing for both to do. Hardest, but the most rewarding.
@@AngryboganI was going to come to say exactly this. There's a reason that command is set up the way it is. The goal is to give each other what we need. Men desire and thrive on respect while women desire and thrive on love.
Some years ago, feminists and atheists found common cause and held a conference together. One of the feminist speakers later wrote about how uncomfortable she felt because she got approached by multiple men there. I tought to myself, here she is, fighting against Christianity, and then complaining about the exact behaviours Christianity curtails. I found that irony very fitting. There you are, with Christless men. Something in that story in my opinion is the key to answering the question posed in the title of this video.
@@BiblicalBookworm Women are into Christianity because Christianity leads to a culture which doesn't objectify them and a culture which curtails certain behaviour in men that women don't like.
@@BiblicalBookworm It is the same point you made about the sexual revolution being bad for women. Even feminists want Christian men but aren't willing to do their part to be Christians so they are left with men that they actually fear to be around. It's really sad actually.
@@BiblicalBookworm What I'm getting is that Christianity holds higher respect and gets men to be decent towards women, more than athiesm. Women want that kind of respect and chivalry, therefore they are Christian.
@@jaden_skywalker I see where you’re coming from, but this perspective could only be backed up if you’re cherry picking the Bible. Let’s not overlook the problematic parts.
As a Catholic man how I've seen and interpreted these things are that they are nothing out of the ordinary with Christian teaching. A big part of what we as Christians are called to do is serve one another and it all fits into that box. Husbands are called to serve their wives as leaders, they are still subject to their wives and men are subject to God to serve him. This is what it means, it is not about putting people down, it's about humbling ourselves
This must be why people ideologically opposed to Christianity are narcissistic, morally relativistic and don't believe in objective truth but their own subjective "truth." At the crux of Christian ethics is humility so naturally people opposed to the Christian worldview emphasize selfish desire and elevate the ego above objective truth more regularly
No where does it say that husbands are to serve their wives. In any relationship, the submissive one is supposed to serve the dominant one. The woman was created to be a help to the man, and not the other way around. There is a difference between serving a woman and providing for her.
I was raised in a Christian home. But I re-committed my life to Christ in my 20's after hearing a man's testimony about how prior to being a Christian he was an 'angry jerk'. I decided that I wanted that kind of life. I really can not fathom a life being apart from Jesus, I feel so much more at peace, whole and clean. I am also much easier to and kinder to get along with. I see nothing in atheism or any other works based religion that offers the same kind of benefit or change.
It's also very interesting to notice how these verses are always in Paul's letters, but the Gospels never record Jesus saying anything remotely similar.
It's because Paul was writing to gentiles that had no moral structure around these things. Jesus was writing to Jews that had Jewish culture to base the roles on already. If you read how the Roman's talk about women you will see that as harsh as Paul sounds it was mostly softening the treatment of women. For example, the instruction to women to submit to their husbands is addressed to women. The household codes only addressed men at that time.
Italian catholic writer Costanza Miriano has written a book which has the problematic quotation of the Bible in its very title: "Marry him and be submissive". She also wrote a similar book for men: "Marry her and die for her".
Usually, when Paul's epistles mention a principle, it's because his target audience wasn't doing a great job of following the principle. The whole "women should be silent in Church" thing suggests that Paul had encountered or heard of women who were being loud and disruptive during Church, at least noticeably more so than the men. In the historical context, Timothy was written to a young pastor whom Paul mentored (and IIRC were the final letters Paul wrote before his martyrdom) regarding numerous matters of church governance. Another of Paul's epistles talks at one point that women should dress modestly, which is a rebuke of the women who were dressing lavishly and provocatively with presumed intent to draw attention to themseves. Though the _letter_ of Paul's word mentioned specific objective fashion decisions (unscarved heads, among others), don't mistake the word for the intent. God is not so terrible and cruel that you have to take brotherly culturally-relative advice as the literalistic eternal will of God just in case. God is not some short-fused tyrannical despot that you need to avoid offending at all costs, as Allah is in Islam. The actions Paul spoke of, often in condemnation, usually had spiritual connotation. We see this in his advice regarding the then-prominent controversy around eating meat sacrificed to idols. Paul's conclusion is that, while meat sacrificed to idols is fine for Christians to eat because it's not as if the idol has any real power over the food, not all other Christians within your vicinity would immediately understand that. Paul's ultimate conclusion is that, whatever the choice, your priority should be the well-being of those with lesser faith.

@@BiblicalBookworm I'll give you an even more direct example, as to why early Christians refused female priests. Look no further than America. As soon as the Protestants allowed for women to be pastors, these churches went full woke. Ruined. Case in point.

What I think is that the biblical passages concerning the relationship between husband and wife are being relativized, making everything more complicated. On one side people giving a more "literal" interpretation while others a "revised" version, basically a vision closer to traditional roles and one closer to gender equality. And then we have the "centrists" trying to reconcile the two views with extreme abstraction, making it impossible to understand what they mean in practice. Now everyone believes what they think.
Very good. This is what I would have been taught in Catechism. This is old tyme faith here. The original stuff. I just explain it to people, that there has to be a chain of command in a marriage, that if there's a dispute between the husband and the wife on things that are essential, it has to have a tie breaker. Like Male Authority is Federal and Female State and the Older Siblings Local law. Lol. The church thing, it's about preaching, because I've seen women lead churches astray. It's just a way Satan can get in there, and cause all sorts of mischief, no matter how good the intentions. That's part of the curse of humanity. Nobody actually likes it to be that way, but it's supposed to be that way for that reason. Good doctrine.
Wrong. The chain of command, tie-breaker mentality is not Biblical, but is from the sinful world of male domination. There is actually no hierarchy. First, everthing must go back to a teaching of Christ. So, with Ephesians, we have 5:21, submit to one another, wives to their husbands (receiving and supporiting) and the husband's headship/leadership is to love their wives as Christ loves the church, and this is with acts of service that support. There is no hierarchy, no who is the boss, etc. It's just an example of how to carry out Christ's command to love one another that touches on aspects of femininity and masculinity. Also, look how many false churches there are that are headed by men. So many men fall for the false male-entitlement mentality.
I was riding through rural NY one day, and a Christian radio station was literally the only thing that would come on the radio. The lady talking said that there is no such thing as a democracy of 2. Always stuck with me.
This is great, however, another issue with feminism is the no fault divorce and revoking alienation of affection, so they get married and then a partner can withhold sex/affection which justifies a divorce biblically but the court will punish the man because alienation of affection is no longer a cause which will punish the offender in the divorce proceedings. This is especially bad if there are kids involved
Answer: most Christian women aren't actually Christian. They just call them selves Christian. They largely don't actually follow the bible and pick and choose the sections they want to follow or reinterpret the bible to suit their wants. like you.
Christian men too since they reject the slavery supported by the bible and the Early Church. Augustine: "You must use the whip, use it! God allows it. Rather, he is angered if you do not lash the slave." John Chrysostom "to discipline and punish ignorant slaves is a great accolade, and not a perchance commendation"
Catholic dogma mixed in and not biblical. Women were made for us, not us for them. They are never to have any kind of authority over us. First born males who open the womb are preeminent in the Kingdom of God. Females of any type are not listed. There were no queens in Israel.
My mother lived through a traumatic childhood. When she found out she was pregnant right after graduating high school. My father on the other hand didnt want to but, to make her happy he studied the bible and became christian. Today they are still married. But she is clinically depressed. She has lost contact with me her son. She still has her 2 other kids whom she treated favorably in their childhoods. What i learned from her life and my upbringing is: she has daddy issues from her childhood that have never been resolved, she used religion to shame and control my father due to her insecurities, she also drank the cool aid and lives in anxiety for armegedon, she absolutely disliked having a son due to her insecurities and even the their christian church SA'd her son.... she still insists that i be controlled by her and the church. Today we dont have any contact, according to her church, that way i learn my lesson and want to go back to them. Lessons learned: church and religion preys on the vulnerable. If you read this far.. ❤
People seem to forget that while wives are called to submit to their husbands, husbands are called to lay down their lives for their wives (and children). A man who treats a woman like a lesser being isn't alpha or strong. He is weak and evil.
Blalalabalalablaba. "I wont submit until you are like Christ or you lead me the way I want you to." And this really means she will never submit at all.
Interesting video, but I feel like you didn't really cover why more women are Christians than men. 😊 Much more could be said on women's status, such as men's obligations to women or how Christianity gave value to women in a culture that saw them as mere property. However, liking the social effects of Christianity has no bearing on whether it is the truth, so I don't think this significantly explains the gender gap in religiosity.
@@MrRicebowl42 you are right, much more could be said on the gender gap in religiosity. The goal of this video was just to adress the contradiction between misogynistic Bible passages and more women being Christian. 🤓
I do not think it is accurate to say the Romans or Greeks viewed women as property. A wife and a slave were not the same thing in the ancient world. Sure women were seen as less then men, but they often had control over the home, which is called inward facing power.
Nahhh, sorry to say but f*ck that "expectation" to have sex, that is called Lust, not Love. I know how great Love can be, and Love does not expect me to do something like that as if it was nothing or meant nothing. In my experience, Christian men always avoided being disrespectful to women, while a large number of men who weren't Christians would cat-call and do all of those things other women complain about. There's so many things I see women complaining about that I just don't relate to because I wasn't surrounded by horrible people. Christians were always so kind while secular people were a bit of a mixed bag.
If you wanna be fair about it, then men would also be allowed to say: fuck your "expectation" to *insert any female expectation* Which will happen, I can guarantee you that. This is a recipe for disaster for both parties. Sex is a very important part of the relationship for men. Just like how women also have their own needs (such as feeling safe) and if not met, they would leave the man. So too would any man leave you (eventually) if you don't meet his sexual needs. Men are perpetually horny (even those religious men you spoke so highly of), it's our nature, it's not a choice.
if you don't like the expectation of sex, then don't get married. Marriage is literally God saying "you are now lawfully wedded, now go and become one flesh". Your body is no longer your own.
@@shaunsteele6926Well, people can't have their cake and eat it too. Sure, in marriage two people become like one, that also means that if your wife isn't feeling like having sex, the husband HAS to understand her. What are men going to do if their wife is sick, or has other reasons not to have sex? People can abstain from sex in order to pray because there are things that are more important than carnal desires, even in marriage. The type of love that God asks people to display goes beyond what people can even imagine.
If people are going to say the Bible is too hard on women, they have to say that it is equally hard on men, if not more so. The reason so much emphasis is placed on the kind of verses, like in Ephesians, is because modern women, particularly in 1st world countries, would rather live their lives like care free college kids, so any call for restraint or responsibility is seen in a negative light.
As a Christian myself, I've struggled with being a women in the church. Thankyou for talking about this topic in a rational and evidence based way. I'm glad that you referenced verses and biblical theology to support your reasoning rather than just speaking your opinion.
About 1 timothy 2:12, you didn't even talk about the mistranslation or change from different languages. It's more like "Be at peace", specifically when a teacher or preacher is speaking. This also goes for men that aren't elders or the speaker/teacher. While yes, it's not allowed for women to be elders or preachers/priests in a church body, they can hold other leadership roles. Otherwise, Miriam wouldn't have been a prophetess, Deborah wouldn't have lead Israel during bad times, nor would there be children ministry leaders. Women are called for different roles in the church than men, though we do often share them. The way church is to be done is like the relationship btw God, Jesus, and the Church (Jesus' bride). Jesus will lead (male) and support the wife, and the wife (female) will support and follow him. There's so much more I could go into, but it'd be a bit much for a comment.
The new age hyper grace form of Christianity is more and more attractive to women than men. I've noticed it in church before. The only church where I liked listening to sermons was one with an old pastor who was a korean war vet. That man was a patriarch, someone who has actually killed. I prefer that cold hard form of religion than the hyper grace one. Although, a lot of men are gravitating towards orthodoxy nowadays.
Also, many Bible translations are not accurate, but because of the patriarchal interpretation history of the Bible it has been linguistically translated and socially interpreted in ways that are not actually the original intent.
For instance compare the greek and here mentioned texts: I do not allow _a_ woman to teach nor to _domineer_ a man vs. I allow _no_ women to teach nor to _have authority_ over men.
Also because 2 are married they often are referred to as just the man. Adam means both of them frequently. And Noah went aboard the ark , includes his household. The bible is correct we misunderstand it frequently due to our culture being different.

@@chenyansongAgreed, Philippians 2 applies to all Christians; however, this does not abrogate the responsibility of the wife to submit and obey (Titus 2:5) her husband even if he is a non-believer (1Peter 3:1). Biblical submission is based upon concepts Eloah set in order during the creation and also upon precepts of YHVH's Torah that Moshe explained to us. 'Christians' are not able to understand these fundamentals, nor much else taught by Rav Shaul, until they repent back to YHVH in submission to His commandments. Conservative Protestants - aka, "evangelicals" - are overwhelmingly women. It is even a challenge to state evangelical beliefs and morals in a way that appeals to men. (For example, I have never heard an evangelical preacher discuss how to shut down and hold the line against an aggressive, dominant person determined to put himself at the top of the hierarchy, or how to win and assert influence at work.) Everything is slanted towards women. But we often hear CNN, the WaPo and other liberal media outlets describe "evangelicals" as some misogynistic block because they oppose abortion. Most men don't care about abortion as an issue, or lean towards supporting it. Battles over abortion are fights between women.

Way to use scripture out of context and incorrectly to make political rather than Christian point. But I can tell you why men are not going to church--the cause is really easy to understand. Women ran them out. There it is.
Increasingly in the churches when women sin against their brothers, the church cries out for forgiveness, but when the men sin against the sisters, they cry out for justice. Forgiveness must come with submission. As long as there is no loss in authority for women being promiscuous, men will leave the churches. I say this as a Christian guy in America.
Five percent is a lot of women. I'm struggling with finding a partner equally yoked to me. I worry I may have to accept being alone for a lot longer than I had hoped, and risk becoming barren in the process. Still, I will wait on the Lord and serve my community in the meantime.
Notice how Mary is never given those titles in scripture. She’s a blessed human being deserving respect as she was chosen by God to raise Jesus but she’s not sinless and she’s not Queen of heaven. Giving her this kind of glory, idolizes her and breaks the Ten Commandments. Praying to her is a Roman pagan teaching, not a Biblical teaching.
Most people who call themselves Christians are only lukewarm Christians, so I don't have any idea what the gender ratio is among genuine Christians. My view is that authority and responsibility ought to go together. So, husbands having authority over their wives goes hand-in-hand with being responsible for their well-being. Conversely, I don't believe that my wife has any special responsibility to provide for me, which is why she does not have reciprocal authority over me. All of my worst experiences with authority figures have been women. My experience with women is that they form arbitrary prejudices for or against other people which have little or no relation to that person's behavior. In other words, some female bosses seemed to really like me, and some seemed to really hate me, but I usually didn't know why. It is only the female bosses who didn't like me who went out of their way to make my life miserable. The worst I ever experienced from male bosses is indifference to my wellbeing, but in that case I still knew that I could please him by doing what he asked. But sometimes it's just impossible to make a woman happy no matter what you do. Also, it seems to me that most women's moral development doesn't develop past the point of being able to take care of infants. They are consistently bossy and overly detail oriented. That behavior is useful for taking care of helpless infants, but it does not respect the autonomy and competence of adults. Almost all cultures in history have been patriarchies and said similar things about women, so I'm inclined to think that my experiences with women are more-or-less universal.
The very fact that all societies have always been patriarchies is just absolute proof that nothing else works. If equality were better than patriarchy, all societies would have been egalitarian. Because this is a quite ruthless world that will purge everything that doesn't work over the centuries and egalitarianism has always proved evolutionarily unviable over time. We just happen to live in a time period a system built on patriarchy over centuries produced such a level of abundance that its people became completely disconnected from reality and just changed the system without recognizing what it took to build and maintain it in the first place. Couple decades of egalitarianism and centuries of effort will be destroyed by women. And this, dear friends, is exactly the reason why women must not be equal to men because they aren't equal to men and can destroy centuries of effort with just a few stupid decisions.

Jesus did call the Canaanite woman a dog ( more like pet) however it is an insult and rejection on the surface, you could be offended but your will lose the point of the story.
It's not an insult or a rejection even on the surface if you are careful when you read it. You can tell by her reaction as well as the word He used. Christ, by calling her a word that means, as you know, 'house dog', 'little dog' or 'puppy', was telling her, a Gentile woman, that He, the Messiah promised to the Jews, had a place for her in His house, and that it would be her turn to be fed after them. She responds, in Mark 7:28: "And she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs under the table eat from the children’s crumbs.” " So without Jesus having to explicitly say she's part of the family, she knows that she is, because she says that the little dogs are under the table and inside the house.

Christianity promotes the exact opposite. There’s no restraint at all if you can just go to confession and pay a tithe
Its popular in the West because our culture has sanitized Christianity with enlightenment values like equality and freedom of speech. Christianity in the Middle East, or Africa is very different from Christianity in Europe or the Americas.

I do agree with you though. In the same passage where wives are called to submit and respect their husbands, husbands are called to return Christs love which included death well verse 21 also calls men to submit too.
Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant,”
Matthew 20:26
~ Jesus
Edit: For those that are confused, This is not to say that women don’t also serve their husbands, but rather that husbands and wives serve each other, with men filling the role of leader, as St.

Amazing news. We need more Christian men.
@@BiblicalBookwormThere are trends that men predominate churches in gen z.
Society flourishes with slaves?
You said it! 💞
Geez, I wonder why misandrist women are going to church then?
@@MrWeebable thank you for sharing your thoughts!
"over empathy towards women" wow wonder how many centuries of overempathy towards men has led to this lol crazyyyy
I’ve noticed that secular folks love to discuss Ephesians 5:22-24 and its “misogyny” in its instructions to women, but completely neglect the passage immediately following. The instruction to men is as follows from Ephesians 6:25-33:
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
My theory of why are most Christians women: the Father, whereas many are missing this or have an absent one or not the best one. Peace.

Girls are more spiritual, boys are more rational.
I guess it is because women are wiser.
@@dagwould Wisdom does use a female pronoun in proverbs but I would read that more of a commentary on the nature of wisdom then of women.
Interesting view! Women often complain that submitting is the higher standard. Because every Christian is called to love (agape) even their enemies.
@@rogerhuggettjr.7675 Thanks for explaining! It's fascinating to get a man's view on this!

Something in that story in my opinion is the key to answering the question posed in the title of this video.

@@BiblicalBookworm Women are into Christianity because Christianity leads to a culture which doesn't objectify them and a culture which curtails certain behaviour in men that women don't like.

So true!

Yeah, I noticed the same thing!
So many people take verses out of context and use them to justify unbiblical actions
This was so thorough and well done. Great job!
Hi thank you for this informative video & God bless you 😄🙏🕊️
God bless you too!

Ladies are more emotional, so...

My mother lived through a traumatic childhood. When she found out she was pregnant right after graduating high school. She demanded that my father and her move from the Island that they both grew up in. She has never since visited the island ever again.
He had relatives in the mainland so, they moved. There she was visited by some christians, she accepted a bible study and shortly after decided to become christian herself. My father on the other hand didnt want to but, to make her happy he studied the bible and became christian.

Interesting video, but I feel like you didn't really cover why more women are Christians than men. 😊 Much more could be said on women's status, such as men's obligations to women or how Christianity gave value to women in a culture that saw them as mere property.
If you wanna be fair about it, then men would also be allowed to say: fuck your "expectation" to *insert any female expectation*
Which will happen, I can guarantee you that.
If you don't have sex you can sleep outside thanks 🙏

Thank you for supplementing the content in the video!

Any Christian man should not support abortion.
I am completely clueless how you don't have more subscribers and views. Your content is very high in quality and you source everything properly. Very nice
Thank you! Please share the channel with others, that really helps!
@@BiblicalBookworm1:30 ...ask your husband. People tend to hang out with people like themselves. I can't subscribe to this channel for the very reasons you state. Surrender or die. It may take 100 years, but it will happen eventually.
The content is thinly vailed feminist propaganda from another childless spinster lol.
Way to use scripture out of context and incorrectly to make political rather than Christian point.
But I can tell you why men are not going to church--the cause is really easy to understand.
Women ran them out.
There it is.
Great video! God bless you!!
If she is single over 30 at church she has been riding the carousel and is just looking to find a wallet
Had no idea! Very informative 🥳

So, husbands having authority over their wives...
That is a false teaching, which I address in a post.
@@Szpak-123 "For a husband has authority over his wife just as Christ has authority over the church..." Ephesians 5:23
If you disagree, then you are not Christian.
Ephesians 5:21-33- wives and husbands, submit yourselves one to another because of your reverence for Christ.....You can look up the rest if you're interested, but the Bible outlines how husbands and wives are to respect each other and treat each other with love and kindness. Men are called to have headship of the wife and children, meaning responsibility, not control.
christianity have to be taken as a whole, you cannot just take out the parts your like because the "problematic" parts are there for your good as well.
She responds, in Mark 7:28:
"And she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs under the table eat from the children’s crumbs.” "
So without Jesus having to explicitly say she's part of the family, she knows that she is, because she says that the little dogs are under the table and inside the house.
@@xn85d2 it could be taken as an insult no matter how you slice it. Her offence was really up her. she had a choice whether to be offended and turn away she said "Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” she did not have to response in this way
Thank you, that was very informative.
