  • A wonderful example of natural untreated intense pinkish red rough Rubies on green Amphibolite schist. By comparison to other worldwide ruby deposits, the Paranesti occurrence is most similar to the Winza ruby deposit according to mindat.org
In 2017 various samples from this locality were sent to Theodoros (Ted) Themelis at his state-of-the-art gemstone research and development laboratory in Thailand. After a series of thermochemical processing experiments, the color, the luster and durability in all samples showed a noticeable improvement compared to their original condition. However, the transparency did not improve as the samples remained opaque and in rare cases translucent only at the periphery. Furthermore, all the processing details can be found in Anastasios Tsinidis book - MINERAL COLLECTING IN NORTHERN GREECE volume 2.
