My gf got her Switch from Nintendo Refurbished last year. No cosmetic issues and still works the same as it did day one. I highly recommend refurbished systems from Nintendo.
The tricky tick Same. Just had my New Nintendo 2DS XL refurb come on Friday and was basically brand-new(minus the box like you said). Unfortunately Wal-Mart had just restocked the same one the day mine arrived and I realized I could’ve picked that one up or shipped it to my home for the same price and it comes with Mario Kart. I’m not going through the hassle since I system transferred already, but it just irked me a bit considering I could’ve literally had a brand-new 2DS plus a game if I waited.

“Refurbished” from a manufacturer’s POV could simply mean that it’s not a full package, off the line product. Meaning it’s not in the original box, it could have parts (joy cons, grip, dock, etc) from a different unit, etc. 1st party refurbished products are generally new and come with the same warranty as a new product. the switch is so expensive on the states, here in portugal the retail price is 330€, but usually on sale you can buy it really cheap, i bought mine for 250€ 2 years ago and some of my friends bought theirs for 225/230€ on black friday sales last year. Here people don't resell too much aswell there is always stock, so people almost always buy them new on the store.
260 seems a bit steep. I was able to get an original switch used from ebay a year ago for about 220. was able to hack it to run retroarch and cracked games.
Yeah $260 was steep back then, I’d agree. But considering the shortage of Switches and stuff at the moment, people are willing to pay the $260 to avoid the scalper prices on eBay and to not get a switch from a potentially sketchy eBay seller.
The definition of Refurbished doesn't necessarily mean taking in a system under warranty, replace it and then repair the broken one and resell it. In my case, I had a Lenovo laptop (I know, different device, similar concept). They could not meet repair times so they sent me a new laptop AND my broken laptop back. Since I repair laptops, I tried to repair the broken laptop. I had it working but it ended up dying a few days later. Most of the time a refurbished electronic system is basically a system that failed Quality control. It goes to repair to get fixed then 2nd QC. You can't sell a repaired laptop or computer or game console as new even though it never left the factory because it failed quality control #1. Think of it also like a Core i9. If a core i9 fails QC, it becomes a i7 and if it fails QC again, it becomes an i5 and so on (with cores disabled and or removed along the way and clocks reduced as well).

@@therandomd2717 Christianity and evolution can totally coexist, given that God is a master mathematician, since He is perfect. He is a scientist and a mathematician, and thus all His creations are perfect, and are given the perfect biology for the changes that occur to His will. He is a kind genius in His creation. Why do you think Catholicism has moved from a Dark Age of stagnation to a more scientific view in terms of discovery, even having astronomers in the Vatican? Science and religion are two sides of the same coin. One requires faith in the Truth, and the other provides the proof of our well placed faith. You can in fact love science and love God, it's just a matter of leaving ignorance and embracing Him and His creations in a new, knowledge-hungry point of view.
I got my New 3ds XL from Nintendo’s Refurbished program. The system battery stopped holding a charge maybe a little less than a year out. Aside from replacing that it was a great purchase.
btw theres a much easier way to see if thats an unptached switch. the serial number can be plugged into a website that will tell you for sure if it is unpatched, patched, or possibly patched.
This is madness, Nintendo needs to make a simplified new base console, call it the SWITCH 4K or SWITCH DIRECT. I know many that just want is a standard pro game controller with a base console.
I wouldn’t use the markings on the SoC as indication for whether or not it’s hackable. There has been several completely unrelated SoC revisions and I doubt they’d bump the SoC revision for the patch (the SoC itself received no changes,). But it probably is patched, yea.

Your console refurbishing videos have inspired me to want to pick that up as a hobby. Any video suggestions or equipment that you can recommend for someone just wanting to get started?
Nintendo has always had the highest standards for their refurbished products on their site, dating back almost 20 years. They will go out of their way to ensure that the outside cosmetic is 99% perfect, going as far to replace outer shells of screens, plastics, and buttons with OEM parts. Most of the time, by refurbished they mean to say that they took the inside components of their products (PCB, chipset Internals, ETC,) fixed whatever the issue was, and reshelled them with new exterior parts. Although their pricing can sometimes feel like it's not far off the MSRP of a new product, they do offer a year of warranty and on states with higher taxes (like California) can mean you get a like-new out of the factory product without paying any sales tax. This is also why their refurbished products usually tend to be of one model/colour, they mass produce a colour, or scheme for extra parts to refurbish these products (for example only having a choice of one colour). You were also able to get OEM parts directly from them, including game cases, chargers, controllers, batteries, and extra misc console accessory replacement parts from them a few years ago.
I was considering getting a refurbished one direct from Nintendo but I'd prefer the newer model over the launch model. It's solid savings and everything I've heard makes it sound like Nintendo's refurbished hardware has always been practically brand new. Likely mostly comprised of stock that simply got returned or possibly damaged during shipping. It's a bit of a lottery with something like a Switch, but the 3DS line gives you quite the selection.
I bought a pair of gameboys once they opened. Both were fantastic - and now I can sit down and try to fix the kid device, which looks like a lose ribbon cable.

@@therandomd2717 Dude. Seriously stop spamming. As a Christian myself. I'm finding that annoying
Dope shirt man!
Never seen that one before.
They sell in new zealand brand new for $539.00 NZD = $353.00 USD RRP
I bought a 2DS off the site, and it looked new.
What's that link kind sir??
I wish Nintendo sold the console only without joycons new and refurbished
The lights on the joycon will not turn on when you push them if they are not paired
I got my New 3ds XL from Nintendo’s Refurbished program. The system battery stopped holding a charge maybe a little less than a year out. Aside from replacing that it was a great purchase.
btw theres a much easier way to see if thats an unptached switch. the serial number can be plugged into a website that will tell you for sure if it is unpatched, patched, or possibly patched.
ordered a white 32gb WiiU from Nintendo Refurbs right when the Switch came out, was $179 came in brand new condition.
Great tech wave, but where's the tank top?
This is madness, Nintendo needs to make a simplified new base console, call it the SWITCH 4K or SWITCH DIRECT.
I know many that just want is a standard pro game controller with a base console.
YES!
Btw the way GameStop always has the older switch in stock for 300$ just to let you know brand new too!
I wouldn’t use the markings on the SoC as indication for whether or not it’s hackable. There has been several completely unrelated SoC revisions and I doubt they’d bump the SoC revision for the patch (the SoC itself received no changes,). But it probably is patched, yea.
Has John been working out? It's like for every new SpawnWave video, his arms gets beefier.
Just ordered a refurb Switch from Nintendo, hopefully I'll have the same success as you! Thanks for the reassuring video
How long was the delivery?
How was your switch? I just ordered one. Hoping it doesn’t take too awful long.
*I just bought a 2DSXL & 3DSXL refurbished from Nintendo.*
*Get them now before they disappear.*
*Nintendo used to sell the batteries also but they stopped.*
I bought a refurbished Wii U and new 3DS XL and it was pretty much brand new
$259 refurbished vs $299 new (at MSRP)? That doesn't make much of a savings. Is the warranty the same? Also it has the older chipset with worse battery life. Nah man I rather get a new one.
Just bought a refurbished, I think I’ll be fine. My phone and iPad are refurbished and they work beautifully. Got the warranty too so I’ll give it a go .
R.I.P. to ReviewTechUSA. He had the same video idea lol.
He can still do his own version
He's been too busy covering internet drama. I haven't checked his channel in a while due to that.
AndresLionheart same, it felt really weird that he was covering all that stuff even though he didn’t need to at all so I eventually stopped watching him
Maybe they have a bunch of old ones in a warehouse that they are selling as refurbished just to get rid of them?
The refurbished switch being sold on Nintendo store is now the newest one! So that has changed since this was posted.
How was your unit? Any blemishes? I’m thinking about buying refurbished from Nintendo.
It gets here Friday and I can let you know. They shipped it out the same day I ordered it. I’m mainly gonna be using the pro controller/docked mode so hopefully the refurbished was the right move. Upgrading from the switch lite.
@@joudo7 I know it’s been a while but I just got my refurbished switch from Nintendo and everything seems brand new aside from one small scratch on the screen of the switch. The joycons and grip are definitely brand new. I was worried that I should’ve went with new but I am 100% satisfied with this. I put what I saved towards a pro controller and it’s a great controller.
Bought a refurbished wii u and you couldnt tell the difference from a brand new one, even came with Nintendo land in it's original case in a spotless new box. Great place to save a few bucks!
What's that link bro??
Is it possible to buy empty game cases from Nintendo?
No you can’t
I find it crazy I got my switch brand new from newegg for $270 almost 2 years ago and this costed more used.
Your console refurbishing videos have inspired me to want to pick that up as a hobby. Any video suggestions or equipment that you can recommend for someone just wanting to get started?
Looks great, let's crack it open!
Ordered mine today. I hope Nintendo Sends me a nice one. First Refurb from Nintendo I ever bought.
was it good? thanks
@@guyfawkes6657 yes still going strong. Not a scratch or scuff on the shell or screen.
@@unkwnuser01 nice 👌 thanks
I dont know why, but i love these buy/see what he gets videos :)
The Random D Stfu please
I bought a pair of gameboys once they opened. Both were fantastic - and now I can sit down and try to fix the kid device, which looks like a lose ribbon cable.
Great vid man, cant wait to see the next portable wii video
Spawn wave Nintendo replaces ALL exterior casing screens etc on refurb products. That’s part of their process.
I got a refurbished Switch for my birthday from Best Buy. It was the only Switch around $300 that wasn’t sold out. It works wonderfully! Even came in the original box!
I think the joycon might be new. I recently sent my joycon in to get repaired for drift, and they fully sent me a new pair, and they came with no charge
I just picture the folks over at Nintendo that run maintenance on these devices just sweating bullets watching this video.
