  • In this video we get this BMW with an engine light on due to a misfire. Using a scan tool and our scope, we were able to find the root cause and rectify it.

    Hey Rob,
    You did well to explain passive voltage on the oscilloscope waveform. Another way to describe it is a power looking for a ground, which is switched by the ECU. The apprentices struggle with this concept until you show them on a vehicle. We have just completed the 'Diagnose & Repair Ignition Systems' unit and the same applies for 2 wire coils or any negative switched circuit, for that matter. Keep up the good work! 😉👍

      Thanks Max, I listened to it after I recorded it and I was sure I sounded like a complete twit hahah

      @@romanosautomotive Nah mate, you explained it well. Passive voltage is hard to get your head around. It took me ages before it sunk into the grey matter, so explaining it to others it a tough job anyway.

    Awesome video. The Megger tester appears to be a pretty underrated tool considering how good it is for diagnosing injectors.

    First time saw these system of fuel injector control, could you explain a little bit more in deep. Music in background perfect as always.

      Thanks Ivan, it's hard for me to explain because I just explain as I think it, but not necessarily in a way that other people can understand. The next one I get, I'll try to explain it in more detail. Thanks for watching!

    So, connecting to the first injector wires, you see the positive and ground signal for this injector and all positives (but not ECU grounds) for all the other injectors. And this is because positives are shared between all the injectors. Am I right? Thanks for sharing!!!

      Yes Chris, it needed it but I didn't show it in the video. I tried to include as much relevant stuff as possible without making the video too long. But I'll try to add little steps like that in future videos. Thanks

    Rob I wonder if on initial start of the engine you might see the injection being pulled to ground before the ecu switched it off.

    • @romanosautomotive
      @romanosautomotive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      D. D I did that off camera by clearing the code and trying but it didn't try to ground at all, so I'm wondering how it knew not to ground it. I need some BMW engineer to tell me because I want to understand how 😅

    Hi Rob, where you able to code the injectors with the topdon scan tool?

      I didn't try Neil, I'm not sure if it has that functionality. They were coded with my Verus.
