If you have the time and energy I was wondering what level of price in oil are you looking at for indication of potential reversal? Seems like oil will stay elevated and the macro environment is to say the least tough. From what I can judge we’re likely already in a recession and the balance sheet run off that will commence any day now will continue to crush demand. What indicators are you looking at also except for oil and the repo market?

Nice to see you back Ken, but I won't stop adding to my long term positions as they continue to fall. I believe in long term investing and will increase my ownership in the companies that are best positioned for future success as long as they continue to drop (TSLA, NVDA, AMD etc). However, I definitely agree that margin should be avoided at all costs.
I hear you. I’m the same way. But careful in your assumptions especially if your market experience is mostly post 2008 with an accommodative backdrop and careful to think that equities are only affected by their own fundamentals. Up until now, the SETUP for equities was great. But now, a pretty rare occurrence is happening where the sustained SETUP for equities is very bad. And a bad macro setup will affect every company’s earnings and stock price, no matter how special. So I get that you’re deploying on a long term thesis on valuations that will be looked back upon as cheap, but you’re still throwing cash at things with 30-50% more downside, with no reason for a rush considering a lot of the problems in the underlying setup can’t be fixed overnight with merely an announcement or a signal. Consider throwing a percentage of your DCA money to hedging vs buying.
Even during the peak oil prices from Dec 1978 to April 1980 the sp 500 actually increased. I would suggest everyone compare sp 500 and oil prices charts for past 50 years side by side

Solid advice. Small clarification: increasing supply is not difficult just because building infrastructure take years, but because reinvestment rate in the oil industry are at historical lows - it's expensive and nobody has the appetite to do it. OPEC+ and big oil companies are happy raking profits in, the orchestra plays while the ship sinks.

When you could be doing so many happy things with your time as all of the TH-cam drama fades in the rearview mirror. Some people will catch those life preservers. And put them on. And be thanking you over and over again, weeks + months + years later. Same as we have done for all that you have given us, out of the goodness of your heart, during the bull times.

When Pumpers are telling you to sell is it because they have long-term short positions and they need the market to go down more for the liquidity to cover their positions scaring you into selling they need their long term puts to print. If the market trades sideways, these pumpers lose theta decay. Sell puts, pumpers are in pain
