@@AmyShulke You're so welcome. I have been watching the vids more than once, committing what you teach to my memory and practicing what you teach. I am so relieved. I could see Copics would be the fastest way to do a big project of mine. But they seemed kind of cartoony and you (and a couple of other channels, but to a much less extent) opened my eyes to see that ain't necessarily true at all.
Hi Amy, this video may be older but the information is so on point! When I print my pdfs, I always print them on the lightest ink possible. I truly can't stand dark, black ink because that's all I see. I've been on TH-cam since 2015 and after about 3 years I wanted to try alcohol markers, but I wanted to learn how to use them first. I have searched high and low and I found no one worth my time or so expensive...Until now. When I first saw your name in someone else's stream, I subscribed because what did I have to lose. What a blessing you have been, you're so talented, so kind and so patient. Thank you so much for sharing and being who you are.🥰
I’m curious what you were watching to find me. So glad you’ve avoided the black lines from the beginning. It’s a hard hurdle to overcome when someone trains their brain that coloring must always have strong outlines. You’re starting right!
@@AmyShulke I'm a mod for a couple of streamers and Kelly came in and mentioned your name, she said she had another stream to go to soon. I know all who stream and so I asked Kelly who she was referring to, she told me Amy Shulke, and how you knew everything about Copic Markers. I did tell you I had been looking for years for a good instructor lol but I found the best with you! I am glad I avoided the black lines too, they never looked right or good.
Amy, thank you SO very much for this great video. I sure needed to see this to encourage me in my coloring. I've been unsatisfied for a while and just need to get out of the slump and get rid of black!! Thanks, and I've already signed up for the class! You are such an inspiration...thank you!!! Hugs!
I'm really glad you found it helpful! We get so used to seeing the black lines that we forget how prominent they really are. The good news is that as soon as you get used to using disappearing or fine lines, people start complimenting you about your "drawing" versus your "coloring". It's great reinforcement and encouragement to have people see your work as art!
Thanks for the encouragement, Amy. I've tried the so-called "no-line" coloring and just was unhappy and more. But I am slowly (operative word "slowly") working on it. But all of life is a process, and so is art. Thanks so much. I've learned so much from you, and I appreciate your gift of artistry and in teaching.
Thanks and welcome! In case you haven't checked it out yet, be sure to visit my site at www.vanillaarts.com . My videos here at TH-cam are not nearly as frequent and regular as my articles and blog posts on the website. There's new stuff 2-3 times a week over there. I love this image!!!! I remember when this was the very first class I ever took with you. I will have to do this project again to see how much I have grown!!
I discovered you through Pinterest and find your drawings beautiful! I am happy to leave a subscription and look forward to your other creative works! Greetings from Germany Claudia
Woo hoo! Another convert! BTW, I wrote an article over on the Power Poppy blog a few weeks ago about the same subject: powerpoppy.blogspot.com/2020/04/artists-notebook-are-you-stamp-blind-4.html
Coloring books are generally not printed on good marker paper. If you're copying the image onto marker suitable cardstock, you can set the printer to a lighter gray.
Sucks, I don't stamp nor have a printer. I regret not getting a printer. I trace and color so the images are never great images always slightly off images lol
Watch for sales on black-only laser printers. They use toner instead of ink and are safe for use with alcohol markers. Printers aren't cheap but the black-only machines are cheaper than the full color machines. I've also had students take files on a thumbdrive to office supply stores like Staples. Bring your marker paper and they'll print the files for you.

The best instructor by far that I've seen on Copics and colored pencils.
I'm honored. Thank you.

I totally agree, I have searched high and low and have had some not so great teachers. With Amy I feel as if I hit the gold mine.

Just come across your channel today. Great videos and advice. Subscribed and will be binge watching as I practice with my copics.

Thanks for another art installment. I'm anxious to check out this class as I know it will expand my coloring world in ways I don't anticipate.

Wow!
How can i cover the outlines in coloring books?
Use white and then grey it out to make it lighter
