Hay D hows it going thank you for sharing all your skills and ideas. We really appreciate your hard work. I still looking to find/buy an original creek devil lure
@SuperGordonFan If you intend fishing them in river currents , possibly go for the thicker 2,0mm sheet or even 3,0mm copper sheet , as current tends to lift any spoons . Stainless steel , once polished , remains shiny , brass and copper does tarnish after a while , .......I like to polish both sides of such spoons but only paint or cover the upper side with foil and leave the reverse side untreated , this way I achieve a kinda "blinking" effect between the shiny and tarnished sides
+smokster0604 Thanks , ....and they do work a treat, both for bottom jigging and also medium strong currents ! Greetings from northern Germany , Dieter
Both tapes are really sticky , ...apply aluminium tape first , as much wrinkle-free as possible , ...after wipe off with some tissue paper or rag soaked with a bit of spiritus to degrease , ....than stick on your holo tape and finally apply the protective topcoat . I've never done this , but I'm pretty much sure , that it would work out , ...maybe even topcoat the aluminium tape prior to applying the holo tape onto it and then topcoat that one again ?
The big silvery roll is ordinary plumber's aluminium tape , available in dollarstores or tool marts , ...the scaled tape is called "holo tape" or "hologram tape" . This particular one was sold by a local mailorder shop which no longer exists . Similar one , but with thin lined scales(otherwise transparent) is available at "w-w-w-moorelures-dot-com"(have to disguise the link , otherwise post won't submit) . Tape can be expanded over curved surfaces , but requires protective laquer .
i can just about make a sandwich but i can land sea-trout and id sell my soul for these lures they look totally amazing i wish id your skills to make these you should start your own company id buy these lures!
You can make your own after certain video sequences , can't you ,.... just keeping about the relations of width and length ? Important is not to make the spoon too wide(otherwise it won't bend in a vise) and not longer than your vise's clamps are . How to make a symetrical paper and after aluminium template is displayed in some sequences of another spoonmaking video of mine , check out my channel . Rougly the shape of this spoon is like a "Luhr Jensen Crocodile" spoon . Good luck , 61diemai
Thanks , ....good luck , and don't forget to wear goggles , when doing the polishing part , rotary wire brushes are hazardous to the eyes , as they often lose bristles whilst turning .
Forgot to mention : Lots of international fishing -related item suppliers to be found on the link list of this site , also some lure component shops there : "w-w-w-lurefishinguk-dot-com" Just click on "link" on top of entry page , after click "tackle supppliers/manufacturers" pages . Enjoy yourself browsing thru , maybe you'd be lucky to find such holo tape elsewhere as well , ....cheers , 61diemai
