Thanks. I’ve actually had it torn down for a couple months now. I’ve fitted a larger 21” front wheel on the bike as well as some other small cosmetic changes. I’ll post another video with the changes.
Thanks for sharing this. I have an 82 nighthawk 650 and wanted to make it into a chopper style like this. Currently its cafe racer style and I'm less into that now. I was looking for a hardtail frame and they make em for the cb650 but not for the cb650SC which is the nighthawk. Good to know you went with the universal kit and it worked out. Thanks for describing how you did it. I wish there was more videos though on how to set up a hardtail jig and line everything up correctly.
Is your Nighthawk SOHC and chain driven? I think the 82’s might have been the same as the cb’s. In 83 the Nighthawk engine changed to DOHC and had a shaft drive. Even if there are differences it might be easier to adjust the cb hardtail frame to fit rather than build one from scratch.
@@fromthebackyard2415 Yea its a SOHC chain driven, but i went online and can't find a weld on hardtail frame for it. I've tries tc bros and lowbrow customs. They have it for the standard cb650. I sent them emails asking if the hardtail frame for the cb650 would also work for the cb650SC and they said no. However, they both responded pretty quick so it seemed like they didn't put too much thought into it. I didn't think there would be any real difference in the frame between the 2 but idk.
@@jrich240h can't you jus extend swingarm then cut rear off frame, then weld hardtail from axle plates at rear wheel to frame, then you use bike as jig etc. I've done it few times over the years 👌.
@@wasterdnb I've never did a hardtail before so I'm sure you'd know more than me about it. How would I extend the swingarm and Why would i need to? Wish there was a video on the procedure you describe. Thanks.
Propane and propane accessories i believe the jetting is stock. I did shim the needle with a small washer. It’s a fairly common mod which I read about on the rebel forums. The shim solved a back firing issue I had and seemed to give the bike a little more pep.
The only original part of the frame is the steering stem. The rest is from scratch. Laying out the frame wasn’t all that hard. The harder part was making everything fit to it. It would be hard to use the stock frame of a nighthawk or rebel as they don’t really use regular round tubing.
That is soo freaking beautiful i hope you keep it and make it even better.
Basically, she's perfect. I love it.

@@alexonkow Lovely! Hope to build one of my own one day.
That seat makes the bike

What jetting did you do to the carb

How hard was it to hard tail the frame

Are you on Facebook? If so do you mind if I add you? I have a few more questions to ask.
Caleb Purvis I’m not on Facebook. You can email if you’d like at alexonkow@gmail.com
Voodoo Vintage has a hardtail kit for the Rebel.
