Yes it is. I was wondering what the lions might think about this, so I had to research it. “Lions, while not colorblind in the conventional sense, have limited color perception. Their vision primarily centers around shades of blue and green. However, they struggle to distinguish between red and brown colors. This unique adaptation is due to the composition of their retinal cells. While they may not fully appreciate the rainbow of hues as humans do, their vision is well-suited for detecting the movements of prey in the savanna, where these hues often dominate the landscape.” medium.com/@animallearns/are-lions-colorblind-amazing-color-perception-in-lions-264c6e9cce4e
This was my 6th Zoo Lights since 2017, the lights this year are the best. The one thing I missed on opening night this year were the ice sculptors. For some reason they were absent on opening night but they will be sculpting at some of the nights this year, usually on weekends. It amazes me to see a large block of ice turned into a beautiful piece of artwork right before your eyes. I am going back again this year on a night when I know they will be there. Plus I hope there is snow, it really ads to the holiday ambience.
I did hear that there are no plans to relocate Pilipili yet. This will eventually happen, Lincoln Park Zoo is in a lion breeding program with other accredited zoos. He is still too young. It will be a sad day for me when he leaves.
Thanks Mike! Enjoyed the ride on the carousel!
It was an enchanting evening, I haven’t been on one of those since I was a little kid. Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful ❤
