Incredible video - thanks for posting it! I was so lucky to be working in a field near Wattisham airfield in 2014 and to my amazement see a Vulcan performing aerobatics. Presumably it was XH558. I stopped what I was doing and stood in the cab door of my Cat Challenger 75 while she flew overhead completely drowning the exhaust noise of the still-running Cat. Unforgettable!
I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO SEE THIS INCREDIBLE JET 3 TIMES AND ONCE IN MY HOME TOWN. I WAS ALSO LUCKY ENOUGH TO ATTEND A TALK WITH THE GREAT PILOT MARTIN WITHERS. THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT DETAILED VIDEO IT WILL SURE BRING BACK HAPPY MEMORIES FOR ME AS I REMEBER WITNESSING HER HOWL. SAD SHE IS NOW CONFINED TO THE GROUND.
Great video. I was there with a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. She should be flown into the future as part of the memorial flight. 2million a year well spent!
Stunning. It's hard watching this knowing she won't be flying for much longer. I'm so grateful that I've had the opportunity to see XH558 fly and appreciate just how amazing she really is. Brilliant video. Thanks for posting.
Masterful video, got Her Ladyship captured wonderfully and commentary with little crowd noise.I was one of the lucky ones to be there, tremendous day, even the lengthy traffic jams could notspoil the day. Superb.A huge THANK YOU.
Thankyou SO much for sharing, am in tears as I was @ Southport yesterday to see her for the last time n the best display I've seen her fly this year. Was wonderful to see XH558 with her 9 Praetorian Guards, the Awesome Red Arrows, wasn't expecting that one n that final spiral climb I was right on the flight centre line n oh, what a HOWWWWWLLL she gave us!
Love this. I will never forget this fellas voice. Heard him many times commentating. As he once said with a crack in his voice after commentating for all these years 'Words fail me!' :'( Thanks for sharing
What an absolutely fantastic aircraft, it was the Vulcan on static display at Blackpool Airport that got me interested in aviation in the first place. Seen XH558 twice in the past year as part of her farewell to flight and each time she's drawn such a massive crowd. This display was just awesome, plenty of that trademark Vulcan howl to set car alarms off. Thanks for sharing.
+jwhiteside91 I have a piece of that Vulcan. Due to it's scrapping, there were a few bits escaped Mr Scrap Man and as a result I have a section of wing. Proud owner!
What a memorable sight and sound, I was there standing way out on the beach that day with the Vulcan howling directly overhead and climbing straight above me. I've spent my whole working life close to all the European fighter aircraft but this aircraft I'll always remember as being so different.
No video can truly convey the full, awesome Vulcan sound effects, but this one does a pretty good job. My, she was loud on Saturday! So glad I was there, but so sad there are just a few weeks left. Thank you for filming and for sharing.
+Mandy Martin I was in tears earlier, couldn't stop myself and I'm seeing her in her hanger tomorrow! Thanks for your comment, please make sure you share this, the world should really be in tears I think, not just us!
+Mandy Martin I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL MANDY. I GET EMOTIONAL WHEN I WATCH A VIDOE OF THE GREAT XH558 IN THE SKY. IF I WON THE EURO MILLIONS I WOULD PUT A GREAT AMOUNT OF THE MONEY INTO PRESERVING HER. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO SEE HER FLY 3 TIMES AND ONCE IN MY HOME TOWN OF WELSHPOOL. I STILL GET GOOSEBUMPS WHEN I HEAR HER HOWL.
I have watched this video several times and it never fails to move me. I was there on the day, tears flowing freely, it must have been some Vulcan grit. Such a shame she will never fly again.
Magnificent, phenomenal aircraft. I have been privileged to see it fly at The Dayton International Air Show at Dayton, Ohio USA. Thank you for showing this flight.
Great video, been privileged to see this magnificent aircraft over the years at Bournemouth air festival, always one of the highlights of the 4 day show (and gutted i didn't get to see this year due to op.) Brutal elegance from the Old Lady. Seeing her alongside the Red Arrows is just awesome! Very sad we will not get to witness the howl along the seafront any more.
To watch, or to record? That is always the question. On Saturday, I watched this display from the beach and enjoyed every moment of it. When so close, you can feel the power! To now have a permanent record of this unique occasion is such a bonus. Thanks Ian, you've done a great job. The crowds at Southport on Saturday were amazing, I've never seen anything like it. On the following day, there were maybe only 25%. That's the Vulcan Effect at work.
+Robin Emley Vulcan effect of course, I have to say that the Reds don't have the pull 558 has in my view. Yes, they're the best in the world at what they do but they are overrated to me, but a flypast with both is unmissable! And yes, the question is always to film or to watch, but I decided to film because a memory may only last so long, film can be there to view for a good while longer, you can always go back and watch. Thanks for commenting Robin!
A Friend of mine was doing an archaeological dig in the UK, and one of these passed overhead. possibly XH558. and their professor looked up and shuddered, and said one thing. " That, ladies and gentlemen, is the sound of Death on the wing. "
Great video, I got to see her fly as a child and as an adult but more important my 5 year old boy (at the time) got to see her fly in Swansea on her final year of flight, thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Very well done Ian. I've bits of that display but nothing as excellent as this, you've done her proud. It was such an emotional afternoon, with a lot of greying gentlemen trying to keep it together. I do think I'd rather see AND HEAR that than an 'Eden Project' for engineers. Cheers.
+Stuart McKenzie The Etna project is a cracking idea, at least she won't be allowed to rot away and be a part of a future - an engineering future, defying the companies that will ground her. Although I would much rather see a Vulcan flying without complex aircraft status, it's better than nothing. Thanks for your comment Stuart!
(In head, chants: UK! UK! UK! UK!) The V-Bomber nuclear fleet of aircraft was an incredible achievement for Britain on many levels. The series 'Building Britain's Superweapons' episode about them is fantastic.
Cheers! It's nice to know what people think of my work, especially when they tell me it is their favourite! Thanks for viewing. It's such a shame however that it is nearly a year since this video and almost a year since her final flight too. But, we must move on - Blackpool tomorrow so cameras at the ready!
Outstanding bit of film! Quite a sad thing to realise such a thing of beauty and incredible feat of engineering will never leave the ground again.....Fortunatly we've still got the video's of its smoking old RR Olympus engines (just to irritate the greenpeace people ;D)
Excellent video which really captures the sight and sound. Sadly Old Warden was a sell out today so had to take family to a field a few miles away...sadly not close enough but it captured the imagination of my 9yr old daughter who loved watching these videos. Incredible to see roads...fields, verges and greens with people of all ages with cameras, camcorders and selfie sticks all out to capture a glimpse. So sad we won't see her like again.
Just look at what we used to be able to do.... The sound that says. "Argentina, get off my land, we're going to fuck you over" Now it seems that BAE systems, Rolls Royce, and others are turning their backs on our country's heritage. We've seen that before with Concorde, when RR, and British airways pulled the plug. Have we in Britain become so small minded? This about more than just money, it's about national pride!
Great Video the Mighty V its Amazing and such a shame that we have to let it go :'( The commendatory needs to just have a kitkat and let us watch it and talk before or after the display not during it really ruins it.
The maneuvers are incredible to witness ... in the true sense of the word .. I am german so I will never find words in plain english for dumping the Vulcan, SRN4 Mountbatten fleet and Concorde. Wait, there is one, hypocrisy. And the rescued money is anyway much safer put down with topnotch consulting outfits. She should have rolled once more 🌹.

Absolutely stunning ...possibly the best video i've seen of the Vulcan ....thank you.
+Geoff Griffiths Thank you very much!
Incredible video - thanks for posting it!

STUNNING!!! You captured a piece of History there!!! Thank you for sharing :-) Big lump in throat and tears in eyes.

Masterful video, got Her Ladyship captured wonderfully and commentary with little crowd noise.I was one of the lucky ones to be there, tremendous day, even the lengthy traffic jams could notspoil the day. Superb.A huge THANK YOU.
+stimmy66 Honoured to get such a nice review, I'm glad you enjoyed my video. Thank you for watching!

Awsome awsome video. Brings a tear to the eyes thinking we won't see her fly anymore.
Silent, gliding in, drops the bombs and kills the baddies, howls away like a mad demon. Beautiful aircraft. True shame.
Bollocks.
Goosebumps...... RIP old girl and thanks for all those who let us see her in her glory... enjoy your retirement.
Thanks for sharing with those of us not lucky enough to be there.

Only saw her flying twice, but wow, what a beautiful old lady she is. Superb video. Thank you for sharing.

Simply beautiful! Thank you for capturing a special piece of British history.
Superb Video thank you Im in tears again !!!

+Ian Hardman (Steam Dream Diesel Theme) Don't cry because she's gone, rather be elated that she ever was!
+Mandy Martin I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL MANDY. I GET EMOTIONAL WHEN I WATCH A VIDOE OF THE GREAT XH558 IN THE SKY. IF I WON THE EURO MILLIONS I WOULD PUT A GREAT AMOUNT OF THE MONEY INTO PRESERVING HER. +TORNADO TAZ Metoo, I really miss her! 😢 😢 😢
I have watched this video several times and it never fails to move me. I was there on the day, tears flowing freely, it must have been some Vulcan grit. Such a shame she will never fly again.
Fabulous footage - thank you for taking it. I'm so sad this is her last year. My late father used to fly them - they got into my blood.
+Karen Hall We shed a tear or two, but managed to see her up close and personal at Doncaster today!
Magnificent, phenomenal aircraft. I have been privileged to see it fly at The Dayton International Air Show at Dayton, Ohio USA. Thank you for showing this flight.
TAstronomy well that's just a big fat lie, unless you're talking about the red arrows. But the Vulcan, nah
he may mean in 1980, where indeed one flew
Still less emissions than a Volkswagen.
Superb video of a suberb machine. It was a privilage to be there to see that display and the final combination with the Reds.
That howl gets me every time.
So glad I managed to see her fly before it was too late, fabulous video, well done.

Speechless!.......pure gold.
Fabulous video!!!!! So sad and elegant at the same time!!!!!

Pity we didn't meet up on the day, Ian. I owe you an ice cream!
There's always this Saturday in Leeds! Haha, plans are set.
A Friend of mine was doing an archaeological dig in the UK, and one of these passed overhead. possibly XH558. and their professor looked up and shuddered, and said one thing.
" That, ladies and gentlemen, is the sound of Death on the wing. "
Superb filming, wish I could have been there but this is the next best thing!
Great video, I got to see her fly as a child and as an adult but more important my 5 year old boy (at the time) got to see her fly in Swansea on her final year of flight, thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Fantastic filming, I am blubbing....Thank you so much, best I have seen. You should put it on disc and sell to help fund XH558
Very well done Ian. I've bits of that display but nothing as excellent as this, you've done her proud. It was such an emotional afternoon, with a lot of greying gentlemen trying to keep it together. I do think I'd rather see AND HEAR that than an 'Eden Project' for engineers. Cheers.

Thanks for sharing. Fantastic video. One of the best I've seen. So sad she won't be flying after this season :-(
(In head, chants: UK! UK! UK! UK!) The V-Bomber nuclear fleet of aircraft was an incredible achievement for Britain on many levels. The series 'Building Britain's Superweapons' episode about them is fantastic.
Very well captured, enjoyed every minute of that, thanks
Superb video many thanks
Majestic, utterly speechless. Somebody's flying one somewhere, you can bet your paycheck on that.
WOW, goose bumps, fantastic video sir, great commentary too.
thanks for sharing. it was the best Vulcan display this year.
+Andrew Hoseason Seconded! I have to agree with you there!
What a beautiful bird.
Still my favourite video of the Vulcan here.. And truly amazing to see at Southport last year too.
Cheers! It's nice to know what people think of my work, especially when they tell me it is their favourite! Thanks for viewing. It's such a shame however that it is nearly a year since this video and almost a year since her final flight too. But, we must move on - Blackpool tomorrow so cameras at the ready!
Thanks Ian......got some Vulcan grit in my eye
Fantastic! I just wish she had flown over our little town.
Been luckily enough to see the Vulcan fly twice. Amazing....
So sorry I missed this in person. Thank you for posting.
Never to be replaced ........
Absolutely stunning. Great clip, well done.
Fantastic video!
Outstanding bit of film! Quite a sad thing to realise such a thing of beauty and incredible feat of engineering will never leave the ground again.....Fortunatly we've still got the video's of its smoking old RR Olympus engines (just to irritate the greenpeace people ;D)
+Ian Bluemink But of course! And yes, it's a terrible shame I believe but there's little we can do
In the end it's unfortunately all a case of (lack of) money
She's absolutely beautiful, I will mourn her like Concorde x
Gives me goosebumps, the best aircraft ever to fly the skies. Comment done.
I remember this. She was a lovely Aircraft.
Hard not to get emotional :-(
Even though I am a yankee... I still have the utmost respect for the Avro Vulcan.
Excellent video which really captures the sight and sound. +KennnnnnyTucky But, it's good that you saw her. I didn't get to see her at all today!
Air shows will never be the same they will be much quieter
A superb video Ian.
Great vid Ian, I was there. GREAT DAY.
Thanks for the video, wonderful! I managed to see her at Acorn Airshow in Kent for a short fly pass. Great!!
sheer power and beauty.
Just look at what we used to be able to do.... The sound that says. "Argentina, get off my land, we're going to fuck you over"
Now it seems that BAE systems, Rolls Royce, and others are turning their backs on our country's heritage.
We've seen that before with Concorde, when RR, and British airways pulled the plug.
Have we in Britain become so small minded?
This about more than just money, it's about national pride!
Awesome. Thanks. I was there..
A beautiful, beautiful lady.
Wonderful....
Magnificent!
Stunning Plane!
Fantastic !!!!
Superb video....Steve.~
Vulcan is amazing
The howl is amazing
I do not often become emotional over aircraft however, in this farewell tour I will make an exception.
Great Video!
AWESOME!
9 little escorts just goes to show we can do it and we will. Great site.
Great Video the Mighty V its Amazing and such a shame that we have to let it go :'( The commendatory needs to just have a kitkat and let us watch it and talk before or after the display not during it really ruins it.
BEAUTIFUL PLANE. BRITISH AT IT'S BEST.
Seen in real life it was similar to a giant moth .The ground trembled
when this beautiful aircraft flew over
What a beast
Yeah, that was awesome!
miss seeing her fly
ok thankx ian
If I won the EuroMillions I’d give them 20 million just for 1 last display, what a machine she is
Nice plane very very very Nice.
I am so sad that the Vulcan is on flying again 😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😓😘😓😓😓😓😘😘😓😓😓😓
Its a shame they don't have the Victor on display.
Would be interesting, how long this plane could stair in air without engines sailing because of those big wings !
Is it that the Vulcan is literally too fragile to fly or is it a case of the refurbishment being cost-prohibitive?
Absolutely Awesome. #EndOfAnEra
+Keith Jones It is and it's a huge shame, but... all good things must come to an end, no matter how much we hate it.
She should have rolled once more 🌹.
is this the final boss?
+Harry creasian Last flight with Vulcan and Red Arrows. Vulcan is now grounded for good, her last flight was yesterday.
+Ian Hardman (Steam Dream Diesel Theme) i'm joking. it is so cool, it looked liked a game final stage boss
Why has the Vulcan been grounded
Got a love the ai subtitles. Brain arrows😂
Avro, Handley-Page and Vickers the V bomber triumvirate.
A ROYAL B2 BUT NOT ENOUGHT
That's was death sounds like...
9
there's only 9
+Harvey Smith No, there were 10 as to the left or right of shot was Red 10 filming the final Big Big Battle (I think that was the call-sign anyway!)
