HVAC Blower Motor fits 1996-2000 Plymouth Grand Voyager,Voyager TYC
If you are putting in a new one, I suggest after you take it out look it up on ebay. Dodge had three different blower motors to choose from when I went to NAPA, so make sure you know which one you need before stopping there. New ones on eBay run about $50 - $60 delivered to your door, which is half the price of the $120+ I paid at NAPA. So imagine this you make $10 an hour and $80 a day which after taxes, Social Security and medicare are taken out is about $60, so wait 3-4 days for it to be delivered or work a whole day - No brainer to me if it was my car and I was paying for it.
This is behind the glovebox, so you have to remove the glove box and a few bolt and screw/bolts to get to it. You can also check to make sure it is not your resistor.

Excellent video. Just got done replacing the blower motor on a 1996 and your video helped a lot. Orielly's had the motor unit by itself for $45. It took a lot longer to do because the old squirrel cage fan had to be transferred, the motor mount required drilling, and the old wire harness needed splicing but the savings was worth it. Thanks so much for sharing.

Yes, any price much below 90 is going to be used, with OR without a cage - always check that. IF the cage has any damage, you might here a rhythmic thumping at all speeds - this means you might have to move the balancing clip around - do all that on a bench first, before putting the thing back in!

OK..just changed mine. WHAT A PAIN!! 1998 Dodge Caravan. The original factory was a DENSO. Ordered a TYC from Amazon. Hole pattern was off 1/8" inch. So ordered 2 more and one was off like TYC and one was OK like Denso. Just installed that one. Easier said than done. Took 2 hours. BUT saved $$$$$$. One thing the video doesn't show is disconnecting the power connectors. They hang on a metal tab so just pressing the plastic keeper tab is not enough. Take out>>> remove glove box cover,,easy, take off bottom plastic cover..a little harder. Remove old blower..worse yet. And that is the easy part.. installing new one..PUKE! CRAMPED SPACE!!! There are 7 5/16" screws and most are difficult to remove and harder to replace when holding up the 4 pound blower unit. Before installing a new one, measure the distance from motor center to closest hole on the angle tab that has 2 holes. the closest one should be 3 3/8" NOT NOT NOT 3 1/4"....YOU'RE WELCOME!!!!

    • @youcanfixit3721

That's not a bad price. I just prefer to keep the $125-$150 savings for myself. I figure I am paying myself $60-$75 an hour for the saving and that's some good pay for myself. I figure I have to pay that after taxes, so for your pretax dollars if someone make $17-20 an hour they have to work a whole day extra for the money to pay for the shop to complete 1-2 hours of work. And yes they need to pay there bills, but I have better things to spend my money on... I guess if money is flowing out of your ears it's no biggy, or if you make good money. I don't need to fix it to save the money, I just enjoy being independent. Also some people may need that savings as a necessity just to pay off other bills. Everyone has their reasons. Some can pay and afford it, others don't have the money and pay out of just fear of not knowing, some need to fix it on their own because they have no money and can't afford it, and others just enjoy doing their own thing to each their own and I wish every the best in whatever choice they make. Even if it was the wrong end, take it back to AAP - they take electronics back 90 days, just like everything else. Good thing you didnt buy it at a CarQuest. Then again, AAP OWNS CQ, so AAP would take it back!
CQ probably has to conform with AAP return policies by now, it's been over a year since the merger.

That said if the cage isnt too damaged - from removing it off the old spindle (remove the retainer clip first, of course - and dont lose that clip! OR have some Gel-type Super or Gorilla Glue handy!) - you could re-use the older cage and save 50 bucks.
Also, be careful and check the drive spindle for "shave-down", indicating that the motor is NOT OEM or proper after-market design. The shaft MUST have a proper key-way manufactured, not "ground down" manually. Then again, if you are handy with a grinder, grind away if needed! But, you shouldnt need.

This video sucks......it did not help much. He does not film the inside of the housing, how hard it is to see, and how it would be easier to remove the front seat first before proceeding. I just spent three hours doing this in a parking lot in the rain, and it was a pain in the you know what. Also, the screws are the crappy tiny type that fall out or strip out, and they really do not do a good job of not loosening over times. Thanks Chrysler plastic craptastic. I literally had to play contortionist and found my body getting tweaked. This coming from the year 2024, as this was the only video out there that gave us an idea how to repair. I did break the tab on the connector, but it still stays in place. I hope the screws that would not go back in do not work their way loose later. I was only able to get some back in upside down blind in the dark.

Well the video is actually pretty good. Now you were down there and all bent over and know how hard it is to get at. Now imagine recording and doing the repair at the same time for people twisted and contorted. Yeah it's not fun. No you shouldn't have had too many issues besides being smashed, contorted, and having little space. It is a mid novice level repair. Patience is a must and if you chose not to get it all back in that's on you. I never said to just put half the parts back in... Hopefully whatever you did works. Best of luck...
