Sublime, un chef d œuvre, à tout point de vue. Bach, biensur, le chœur, et l expression de toutes ces jeunes femmes, à l expression si divine, gracieuses...
This is a wonderful performance. It's very difficult to find the "ideal" version of this very challenging work, but in my opinion this is it. Too many performances are compromised by driving too hard and inflexibly through the outer sections, uncomfortable intonation in the very difficult solo quartet, or clumsy transitions between sections. This choir doesn't need to be "driven" - it knows exactly how to sing baroque music "instrumentally", so they can relax and focus on both small-scale and and large-scale phrasing and dynamics - including smiling all the time (very important). The conductor is brilliant - great shaping and lifts; she brings out all the suspensions; she has fantastic control of tempo, especially at the end (where many other choirs just rush headlong into the final cadence); and she gets the choir to "dance". It has made my week - thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts about our performance of Bach's motet. It truly means a lot to us reading this - especially since you are highlighting many of the aspects that where important to us when recording this wonderful piece of music. Thank you for listening!
@@thenorwegiansoloistschoir I have to agree with Criccieth Castle. Not only is this an excellent recording of this piece, I enjoyed the expression of the singers' in how they enjoy performing an otherwise complex piece. They are relaxed throughout the entire performance with a light approach in singing it. Baroque period choral works require this kind of treatment and this ensemble gives the performance of this piece the respect it deserves. Also, the placement of the microphones is superb in allowing the listener to hear every intricate phrase of this work. Thank you so very much for your hard work in preparing for this recording. It is indeed a pleasure to watch and listen to it.

You are right! This performance by the Norwegian Soloists’ Choir, and their “Komm, Jesu, komm” video, may be the most beautiful ever recorded. Superb in every possible way. I’ve loved these two motets for more decades than I care to mention, and I cannot adequately express how moved I am by this. 😎🎹
@@marshallartz395 According to Forkel, Bach would play a piece for his students and say, ''this is how the piece should sound''. That's kind of the feeling I got listening to it.

This performance of my favorite motet by this wonderful ensemble, makes me extremely happy!
Bach's music is truly divine, but this is one of the best performances I've heard. Very warmful, a treat for our souls!
