For an interesting listen, check out their first two albums, same name but completely different band, barring Maurice (leader then too) and Verdine. And the soundtrack to Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song with that lineup. the best line is Orlando Jones in Drumline: "in the beginning, there was Earth, there was Wind, and there was Fire."

And they had outrageous costuming to boot. September, After The Love is Gone, Shining Star and Boogie Wonderland were just a few of their hits. This is old skool harmonies and instrumentals.
Phillip Bailey was 2 years ahead of me in high school, 1971. I became friends with some of his friends who had a band, Tender Fore, and today those guys are still singing and playing in different places. EW&F is one of the best R&B groups in history! You need to hear more of them!! You cracked me up when Phillip hit that note. lol Twon, there are 3 brothers who came across my feed the other day who do covers of R&B that has amazed me. And they've gotten shout outs from some of the EWF guys and Taj Jackson and Andre Tresvant, etc. They're called Roney Boys.

Dude this is the best band ever! EWF was the standard that all R & B bands were measured by. So many hits that you can choose from. Horn section off the charts and Maurice White & Philip Bailey were the main lead singers. "September" and "Let's Groove Tonight" were up tempo jams that everyone knows. The Gratitude album is one of my favorites.

Great R&B band. They started back in 1969. This track Reasons was recorded back in 1975. One of my favorites by this band. Sadly the group's founder Maurice White died from complications due to Parkinsons disease. Luckily the band carries on in his memory
