HGV Tipper Driver’s Day - Tarmac, quarry stone & talking - new camera angles

Welcome to a new style of video from me now I’ve bit the bullet and bought a GoPro. I filmed the goings on from my day using different camera positions in and out. Let me know in the comments which you prefer and what you’d like to see in future videos.

Hi Scott, good vids and I'm glad there's some commentary from yourself now. You were asking about which camera angles we prefer and I definitely prefer the forward-facing camera.
I do the same thing for a living so I understand the countdown process when getting loaded by shoot with tarmac or shovel with aggregate, but I think it would help new drivers if you could show them why you do this ...if of course, it's possible to film the loader?
Keep the vids coming mate, it's a good insight into the world of the tipper driver.

Thanks for the feedback. I do forget that people won’t understand everything I’m doing because I’m just so used to doing it I forget to explain. Certainly something I’m trying to work on 👍🏻

As a non trucker, I liked the forward facing where we can see the wheel and mirror 👍🏻 and no offense but why do tippers always seem to be barrelling along?!😅

Haha if it’s an owner driver they’re paid by the load or quite a few firms pay their driver’s a percentage of the wagon’s earnings so people can be more inclined to go as fast as possible thinking it gets them an extra load

hey scott i know im late on this vid lol.. love the vid mate, im in the middle of doing my class 1, would love to start off on class 1 or 2 tippers !! any advice on tippers mate? cheers will give you a sub 👍

Good luck Rick 👍🏻 tippers can be a tough one to get into because they can’t just throw you the keys and say crack on so just apply to every tipper firm in your area and someone will give you a chance

Are all tipper trucks manual ?

It’s pretty rare now to find a manual tipper. The newer the wagon the more likely to be auto and the older the wagon the more likely they are to be manual. Not many firms will have older wagons because tippers get hammered

Hi Carl, the Scania in the videos is a 410 and the one I drive now which is a next gen is a 450

I’ve done all sorts from general haulage to tankers on both class 1 and 2’s and personally I would say tipper work is the best out there closely followed by tankers 👍🏻

Mark Hunter hi Mark, were a bit hit and miss at the minute but nights seem quite steady. The boss is driving mine at night with another lad on the other so I don’t think he’s after anyone at the min sorry
