What little of seen of him at Brighton frightened the life out of me last year
Could be outstanding for us
I saw him a few times and he was exceptional. Has all the attributes of a top striker. He holds the ball well too. He came on yesterday for the last 20 minutes looking match fit.
Great signing! There's a reason Brighton valued him at 100m only 2 seasons ago. If we can keep him fit, we've got a great young striker for a few months. If he does well, hopefully we sign him in the summer (though as you say, it will probably be for more than the 40m rumoured)
He’s fit and there’s a reason he ain’t playing and why they were ready to Off him.....
@@HarryFlowerrs bit like why they sold Gyokeres for 2m. Brighton never get anything wrong and Hurzeler is always right, yes?
Yes sullivan is in control of transfers another player incoming for our medical team to get to know very well, we keep making the same mistakes and the majority of them are sullivans doing
Evan’s had a poor season with injury but same can’t be said for previous seasons
Happy with the loan, as he will hopefully do a job for us for a few months. Potter can assess him with little risk and then try and make it permanent, or go for a striker he really wants in the summer. Seems sensible to me
Hopefully more Lingard than Phillips 😂
Same doctor as the one used for zouma incoming…
No, Dr Shipman I think he’s called 😀
😂😂😂
I'm disappointed we didn't get Brobby, I think he is the better player and suits us better
Idk I watched him midweek and he was awful!
I agree think he would have done well in our system but trust Potter hopefully knows best 🤞
Ajax fans wanted us to buy him too.
@@IAmCrumpton Ferguson hasn't been great either
I get the feeling the reason we didn’t push for an option is that we have our eye on someone else for the summer.
Hope we're lining up something better in the summer
Im happy with this. Definitely a risk he does very well and his value increases a lot but i think it negates a lot of the risk if he gets injured. Also gives Potter and McCauley time to identify a striker for the summer.
Best deal for us an option may have been better but honestly Brobbey may have been better but I hope Evan is a success with us and gets us up the league a bit in the summer we can worry about yay or nay on him 😊⚒
I just hope he stays fit, and let’s see how things pan out. I hope he’s a success. “Come on you Irons.”
Ooh, wait for the rumour that he tripped up on the way into his first training session... 😉
I'm glad it's only a loan because he'll only get injured
Hoping this works out. For a space filler/loan deal, with a potential to either do well and get injured, or do horribly and get injured, it is OK. Brobbey was far better to get behind, but if they're building up for the Summer treating the rest of this yr as a semi-pre-season, it is what it is. Gotta trust the Potter process...
I like it, sucks no option to buy in case he excels but better than an obligation and he gets injured. His connection to potter could make him get up to speed quicker than normal for the loan period and also give us an advantage in negotiations in the summer if he does well
Happy we are finally getting a striker (in this transfer window) but I would have preferred an option to buy although if he turns out like many of the other failed strikers we've had it will turn out for the best.
Finally? We have had about twenty in the last few years, its just that we ruin them or they are crap
@@ironix1 I meant finally in this transfer window considering its now 2nd February, have added clarity to my original comment.
Well at least we got someone in. Really thought it was gonna be another dry january for the Hammers in terms of recruitment.
If he succeeds with us is great and it gives us a chance to to find a good forward in the summer.⚒⚒⚒
I remember him scoring his hatrick for Brighton. He reminded me of Alan Shearer. If he could score half the goals Shearer did he would be an excellent signing. I think he's definitely worth a punt.
YES! We got a striker.
We have nothing to lose and a loan without any option to buy is the best deal for us .....Ferguson has only scored 1 goal in 13 appearances this season so not sure what to expect ?
Loan only is right decision
Potter wants the boy & i trust Potter simple as that👍⚒️
Brooby reminds me of tony yeboah
I see this as a chance to get Emegha, Delap, or maybe even Kroupi. These are the players I would like to see at West Ham. (Can you tell I watch french football 😅)
I suppose a plan is better than actually buying him although seeing him cone on yesterday against Forest, didn't look overly fit so going to probably take a while.
It's weird that Villa value Watkins at £60 mil and people talk about Evans being worth £40 mil.
Mental.
Excellent signing…the loan makes sense.
My fingers have never been more crossed that a risk pays off
The thing is gonzo if he bangs in loads of goals then it’s worth paying more at the end of the season as you will pay a premium for an in form striker, it’s more of a risk buying him and he breaks down, this can be the best outcome for us really ⚒️ plus if he settles he may want us to buy him at the end of the season.
Sensible that it is a loan deal with no obligation. I really hope he does well for us and wish him all the luck. I do however have the injury doubts but let's see.
Wanted Brobby but now that Ferguson is coming 100 per vent behind him COYI ⚒️
West Ham need a striker, Ferguson wanted to come and Potter wanted him and the deal is that he is on loan until the end of the season. It sounds like a perfect setup. If he scores loads West Ham do well, if he gets injured at £30k a week not much has been lost (in the big scheme of things). Of course if he does do well his value will go up but then we would know what we are paying the money if we buy him in the summer. It gives everyone a chance to test the water.
It’s good business ! And then wait for the summer. Good to have another attacking option, just hope he is fit & gets minutes on the pitch for us ⚒️
Difference with the lingard deal we were already playing well n was already in the top six, we ain’t at the moment so we need to change our momentum which I do believe is starting to happen
I just can’t get beyond the idea that Brighton are totally comfortable letting him go. They see him every day and have concluded that there is nothing in it for West Ham.
It is absurd that we get in an injured striker to deal with our injury crisis
I would prefer if all loan deals, were mostly built upon a 'Play & you're Payed' basis. But either way the deal is done, I'm always happy when a new player walks through
our sacred doors and say's "Alright Lads", whilst grabbing himself a Claret & Blue shirt and one of those a brightly coloured bib before running outside to do the business.
I don’t understand why an option would not make the most sense?
Ferguson is like Andy Carroll 😮
Carroll on his day was a beast. Sadly due to injuries there were too few of them. The similarities are all too obvious.
If he comes in and gets fit scores a load of goals and his value does go up if he digs his heels in about wanting to come to us we should still get him for a fare price
Would of preferred Brobbey of Ajax
We should have put an option to buy in. Not learnt from the Lingard loan have we
Breaking news injury after the 1st game . Out for rest of season 🎉
There appears to be an issue between Fabian Hürzeler and Evan Ferguson, be it whatever it is. This loan deal is as good for Brighton as it is WH under the current circumstance, but the reason I say ‘as good for Brighton’ is if they decide to move Hürzeler on, his replacement could work with Ferguson.
He will probably do great and score loads for us, so then we buy him for big money and THEN he gets injured, that West Ham’s luck !
Fingers crossed he's not jinxed on joining us like so many of our past strikers!
know my football and i can you tell you I can spot a player, he has injuries i reckon cause they over train him there. work his schedule out right, and get the big young irish lad playing and you have a serious player. potential is just huge, big men dont hit their stride till their mid twenties anyway.
Just a loan is fine by me ..
Worry about the rest in the summer window ..imo..
Absolutely right
Sounds like a sensible deal. If he goes back to Brighton a £70m player, it's because he's scored plenty of goals for us. Let's hope his injury problems are behind him
As an Everton would of like him but would of like gykores when we was linked with him when at Coventry anyway good look the hammers rest of the season
Let's give him a chance!!! Potter knows him well and will get into Fergusons head with his psychology skills and hopefully get him playing to his best. (Injuries aside of course) 🙏🙏
It takes the persuer of Bowen and Kudus
Happy with this deal Gonzo .
Me too mate
I would have preferred Brobbey. Looos a much better fit
Loan with option and pre agreed price, subject to how many appearances he makes and whether he gets injured or not would have been my angle
Great result for us. Losing a risky 40million is far worse than spending a safer 60million. By next season other options may also be available.
Loans good for afew reason 1 being of we move up 2 or 3 places least that covers the loan deal
I’m trust Potters judgment the only risk for us in this deal is if he does well and stays injury free he’s value will soar so will he’s suitors
Yes but if Brighton starts going backwards and he decided he wasn't to leave them we might have a better bargain position
Should have got an option to buy but not an obligation.
I'm not happy with this especially with no option to buy,if he bangs in the goals and stays fit we are just being used by Brighton and his price will soar in the summer.
Blimey getting players fit for Brighton that's how low we have got
Daniel kret buy him out
I think we need another striker as well.
Never mind if you wanted, loan, obligation, option etc etc………. West Ham NEEDED a centre forward for the next few months and they have got one for that period
I need to have a good lay down because sully might be getting his check-book out
Brighton want Ferguson back to past form and if he does hit form they would like him back . With Pedro and Matoma being watched and Wellbeck aging he will be needed. If he hits form Brighton can either sell for more or return to Brighton.
Absolute perfect deal. Was worried it was Andy Carrol 2.0 when the loan to buy rumours ciruclated. Haven't panic bought someone for an over inflated fee or pursued Andre Sliva 😂
We should open a fortune teller stall outside the ground we would get loads of applications a footballer can get injured at anytime with so many things that could go wrong first niggle he gets told you so will start even if its an injury he's never had before
Besides his initial handful games I really don’t know how much he’s done. But we do need a striker. So I guess this is as good as it gets for next to nothing
Trust me if Ferguson gets going he could be anything......Clever Brighton wont sell Ferguson.
Are we still in for any other players
I would of gone with an option at about £30-£35 million, just incase he comes in and does well
I would have preferred Pepi
Morning mate, I liked him too. Looks like he picked up quite a big injury this weeks though
I think we should loan out Irving, he looks pretty good. He needs game time & maybe we’d see a really decent player
This could be make or break for Potter
It's a Sullivan deal but if he negotiated this then we'll done.I hope the guy flies for us and shows he is a proper striker let's watch this space .
Just seen some of the goals this 20 year old has scored for Ireland and Brighton. Good player for us just needs to stay injury free.
How do you know that there isn't a close in the deal that after loan we can have time for what ever like 30 or 40 mill
Obviously I wasn't in the room with them, but the club are reporting it as loan only. . . . could there have been some other secret things negotiated? I guess so but I just thought I'd go with what I've been told John.
@@HammersChatForum If there was a clause in there to buy at a certain price, the club would not make it public knowledge, especially if Ferguson tears it up, as everyone else would know the fee.
It’s progress! Instead of old and injured we now have young and injured. Just find a young fast strong cf ffs who doesn’t have an injury record!
Straight loan is fine by me. Even if he plays great and doesn’t get injured in the next 14 games, he will next season. He’s got dodgy knees and ankles. It will happen again. A loan means we can bring in our main target over the summer. And if it ends up, we really really want him, we can still sign him.
As for Ings, as an influence and a veteran player with character, I’d like him to stay. He’s clearly well liked by everyone, he works hard and is a good example to the kids. Unfortunately he doesn’t score goals which is his purpose. So, practically speaking he needs to go, for the intangibles he’s good to have around.
Keep Andy get rid of Rodriguez.
Its a no brainer , we see if he has glass ankles with no obligation to buy and if he bangs in a few goals and creates a bit of chaos in the box all good be sods law though he does really well we buy him in summer and wham out for season with bad injury.
Can’t see him playing on Monday (not signed in time )so Potter has until Feb15 for our game against Brentford to get him to fit in ⚒
He had to be signed by noon on Friday mate, definitely Brentford as you say
Not sure I like this deal, if he plays well for us we’re just increasing his value for Brighton. I would like to think there is a long term target but fuck me we’ve been waiting 10 years for them to find a striker
Happy with a loan did not want to spend £40m on injury prone striker
Ww are going to regret this the option to buy would have been perfect my thinking is we have a striker lined up for next season
Let’s wait and see. The worst scenario was buying the lad, only to find he’s as injury prone as we fear. West Ham can still go out and get in another Striker before the Window shuts, as this is just a Loan signing. West Ham need back up, especially with so few fit specialist Strikers currently at the Club.
What squad numbers are available in the 40s yet?
Cost 80m if he rocks up in the summer
Let’s face it Brighton wouldn’t add option to buy . He could comeback injured or he hasn’t worked out never an option . In Potter I trust the loan option .
I’m hoping this is a lingard and not a Phillips, under potter hopefully do us a turn
Can he play tomorrow????
Get the sick bay ready dear o dear west ham
Great if, IF he stays fit. Still not convinced he is the man for us anyway so overall good. If Brighton slap a silly price on him then we should go elsewhere, he's not good enough to break the bank over at this point and let's face it another injury prone striker might cause a riot!!!
Worrying that we have zero youth strikers rather than loaning a injury prone player that if we make him as good as he used to be before injury hes gonna destroy us next season and we still have to buy a striker in the summer not great imo
Make or break
We’ve shown no ambition. We have become a development club for serious teams
I wanted brobby
This lad screams of one of those talents who is constantly let down by him being so prone to injury. I don't mind a loan but please do not buy him. It will take the burden of us until the summer window. This move will work for him as well. He will be the top forward with no competition!
Disappointed there’s no option to buy, but it’s the next best thing. If he smashes it, scores a hatful of goals and proves his fitness I’ve no problem paying £60m for him to hit the ground running in the summer.
Will be surprised if he passes the medical 🤷🏻
Typical Sully signing...no pay, no gain!
