Great that Chantelle is going after our deadbeat media, devoid of all ethics or intellectual honesty.
When I was mayoral candidate for Wellington in 2022, Stuff's Tom Hunt found that I had commented that the people filing politely into the Capitol building to take selfies didn't look like violent insurgents. "Mayoral Hopeful Backed Trump Rioters", screamed the headline.

They weren't politely filing into the Capitol building, that was a coup. Why would you lie?

@@saregama-r8td You're the one that's lying. Fact: a lot of footage shows people filing politely past security at the door. This was shown everywhere at the time. Recently Tucker Carlson viewed the footage and commented similarly. But if I'd got it wrong, that does not make me either a liar or a backer of rioters. You are clearly a deeply unpleasant person.

Luxon looked the people of Southland in the eye and lied, he promised a new better hospital, wake up Southland, wasn't the rate rise enough of a kick in the crutch.

Why are you happy with all of us taxpayers facing a near-50% increase in a massively expensive hospital building?? I'm happy the expenditure should be constrained. Nothing to do with Luxon!

They can not afford it. They have all ready Said that their promises made pre election were based on the financial situation that Labor were saying we were in.. which was not as good as labor said it was. Once National became the government and got to see the actual state of our financial situation, they realized it was much, much worse than they were told. This has meant that some promises have had to be broken unless you would prefer our country to go further down the crapper then it all ready is. We need our finances in order so we CAN provide the things we need...

@@noelreid1345 You have your head stuck firmly in between someones cheeks. I'm not from the South, but for you to have the audacity to suggest taxpayers money is wasted on a health care facility that services the majority of people downs that way is remarkable and selfish to say the least. A short term thinker like most of National egg voters. Always about me me me, my democracy, my vote. My goodness give it a rest.

This council is only taking the next logical step from Maori wards. Once you believe that democracy and elected representatives don't matter, you can just wait .Young people will move to having unelected old people who will go on to alphabet soup people .How about somebody from every group of self- interested people, like, say Christians and the Islamic community?? It won't be long before councils won't be able to make any decisions, you know, like Wellington . It would be easy to suggest because of the bad job councils in general seem to have been doing lately that them not being able to do anything could be a good thing, but it has a job to do if only we had a set of rules that tied the hands of councils by mandating what they can do and can't do .
